Psaumes 106
1 Louez l’Éternel! Louez l’Éternel, car il est bon, Car sa miséricorde dure à toujours!
Praise ye Yah, Give ye thanks to Yahweh—For he is good, For age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
2 Qui dira les hauts faits de l’Éternel? Qui publiera toute sa louange?
Who can relate the mighty deeds of Yahweh? can cause to be heard, all his praise?
3 Heureux ceux qui observent la loi, Qui pratiquent la justice en tout temps!
How happy! They who observe justice, He that executeth righteousness at all times.
4 Éternel, souviens-toi de moi dans ta bienveillance pour ton peuple! Souviens-toi de moi en lui accordant ton secours,
Remember me, O Yahweh, when thou acceptest thy people, Visit me, with thy salvation;
5 Afin que je voie le bonheur de tes élus, Que je me réjouisse de la joie de ton peuple, Et que je me glorifie avec ton héritage!
That I may look upon the welfare of thy chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the joy of thy nation, That I may glory, with thine inheritance.
6 Nous avons péché comme nos pères, Nous avons commis l’iniquité, nous avons fait le mal.
We have sinned—with our fathers, We have acted perversely, we have committed lawlessness;
7 Nos pères en Égypte ne furent pas attentifs à tes miracles, Ils ne se rappelèrent pas la multitude de tes grâces, Ils furent rebelles près de la mer, près de la mer Rouge.
Our fathers, in Egypt, understood not thy wonders, They remembered not the abounding of thy lovingkindnesses, but rebelled by the sea—at the Red Sea.
8 Mais il les sauva à cause de son nom, Pour manifester sa puissance.
Yet he saved them, for the sake of his Name, to make known his mighty power;
9 Il menaça la mer Rouge, et elle se dessécha; Et il les fit marcher à travers les abîmes comme dans un désert.
So he rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up, And he led them through deeps, as pasture-land;
10 Il les sauva de la main de celui qui les haïssait, Il les délivra de la main de l’ennemi.
And saved them from the hand of one full of hatred, And redeemed them out of the hand of the foe;
11 Les eaux couvrirent leurs adversaires: Il n’en resta pas un seul.
So the waters covered their adversaries, Not one from among them, was left.
12 Et ils crurent à ses paroles, Ils chantèrent ses louanges.
They believed therefore in his words, They sang his praise.
13 Mais ils oublièrent bientôt ses œuvres, Ils n’attendirent pas l’exécution de ses desseins.
Soon forgat they his works, —They waited not for his counsel;
14 Ils furent saisis de convoitise dans le désert, Et ils tentèrent Dieu dans la solitude.
But lusted a lust in the desert, and tested GOD in the waste.
15 Il leur accorda ce qu’ils demandaient; Puis il envoya le dépérissement dans leur corps.
So he gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.
16 Ils se montrèrent, dans le camp, jaloux contre Moïse, Contre Aaron, le saint de l’Éternel.
And they became jealous of Moses in the camp, —of Aaron the holy one of Yahweh;
17 La terre s’ouvrit et engloutit Dathan, Et elle se referma sur la troupe d’Abiram;
The earth opened and engulfed Dathan, and covered up the assembly of Abiram;
18 Le feu embrasa leur troupe, La flamme consuma les méchants.
Then was kindled a fire in their assembly, —a flame, consumed the lawless ones.
19 Ils firent un veau en Horeb, Ils se prosternèrent devant une image de fonte,
They made a calf in Horeb, —and bowed down to a molten image;
20 Ils échangèrent leur gloire Contre la figure d’un bœuf qui mange l’herbe.
Thus changed they my glory, for the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
21 Ils oublièrent Dieu, leur sauveur, Qui avait fait de grandes choses en Égypte,
They forgat GOD their saviour, who had done great things in Egypt:
22 Des miracles dans le pays de Cham, Des prodiges sur la mer Rouge.
Wonders in the land of Ham, Terrible things by the Red Sea.
23 Et il parla de les exterminer; Mais Moïse, son élu, se tint à la brèche devant lui, Pour détourner sa fureur et l’empêcher de les détruire.
Then would he have bidden to destroy them, —had not Moses his chosen, stood in the breach before him, To turn back his wrath from destroying.
24 Ils méprisèrent le pays des délices; Ils ne crurent pas à la parole de l’Éternel,
And they refused the delightful land, They believed not his word;
25 Ils murmurèrent dans leurs tentes, Ils n’obéirent point à sa voix.
But murmured in their tents, —They hearkened not unto the voice of Yahweh.
26 Et il leva la main pour jurer De les faire tomber dans le désert,
So he lifted up his hand unto them, that he would let them fall in the desert;
27 De faire tomber leur postérité parmi les nations, Et de les disperser au milieu des pays.
And would disperse their seed among the nations, and would scatter them throughout the lands.
28 Ils s’attachèrent à Baal-Peor, Et mangèrent des victimes sacrifiées aux morts.
Yet they let themselves be bound to Baal-peor, —and did eat sacrifices to the dead:
29 Ils irritèrent l’Éternel par leurs actions, Et une plaie fit irruption parmi eux.
So they provoked to anger by their doings, and a plague, made a breach among them.
30 Phinées se leva pour intervenir, Et la plaie s’arrêta;
Then stood up Phinehas, and interposed, and stayed was the plague:
31 Cela lui fut imputé à justice, De génération en génération pour toujours.
So it was counted unto him, for righteousness, To generation after generation, unto times age abiding.
32 Ils irritèrent l’Éternel près des eaux de Meriba; Et Moïse fut puni à cause d’eux,
And they provoked by the waters of Meribah, —And it fared ill with Moses, for their sakes;
33 Car ils aigrirent son esprit, Et il s’exprima légèrement des lèvres.
For they embittered his spirit, and he spake rashly with his lips.
34 Ils ne détruisirent point les peuples Que l’Éternel leur avait ordonné de détruire.
They destroyed not the peoples of which Yahweh had spoken to them;
35 Ils se mêlèrent avec les nations, Et ils apprirent leurs œuvres.
But had fellowship with the nations, and learned their doings;
36 Ils servirent leurs idoles, Qui furent pour eux un piège;
Yea they served their idols, and they became to them a snare:
37 Ils sacrifièrent leurs fils Et leurs filles aux idoles,
Yea they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to mischievous demons;
38 Ils répandirent le sang innocent, Le sang de leurs fils et de leurs filles, Qu’ils sacrifièrent aux idoles de Canaan, Et le pays fut profané par des meurtres.
And poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, And the land was polluted with blood-shed;
39 Ils se souillèrent par leurs œuvres, Ils se prostituèrent par leurs actions.
And they became unclean by their works, and became unchaste in their doings.
40 La colère de l’Éternel s’enflamma contre son peuple, Et il prit en horreur son héritage.
Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh with his people, and he abhorred his own inheritance.
41 Il les livra entre les mains des nations; Ceux qui les haïssaient dominèrent sur eux;
So he delivered them up into the hand of the nations, And they who hated them, had dominion over them;
42 Leurs ennemis les opprimèrent, Et ils furent humiliés sous leur puissance.
And their enemies oppressed them, And they were bowed down under their hand.
43 Plusieurs fois il les délivra; Mais ils se montrèrent rebelles dans leurs desseins, Et ils devinrent malheureux par leur iniquité.
Many times, did he rescue them, —But, they, rebelled by their counsel, and sank low in their iniquity.
44 Il vit leur détresse, Lorsqu’il entendit leurs supplications.
Then looked he on the distress which befell them, —when he heard their loud cry;
45 Il se souvint en leur faveur de son alliance; Il eut pitié selon sa grande bonté,
Then remembered he, for them, his covenant, and was moved to pity, according to the abounding of his lovingkindnesses;
46 Et il excita pour eux la compassion De tous ceux qui les retenaient captifs.
And granted them compassion before all their captors.
47 Sauve-nous, Éternel, notre Dieu! Et rassemble-nous du milieu des nations, Afin que nous célébrions ton saint nom, Et que nous mettions notre gloire à te louer!
Save us, O Yahweh our God, and gather us from among the nations, That we may give thanks unto thy holy Name, That we may triumph aloud in thy praise.
48 Béni soit l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, d’éternité en éternité! Et que tout le peuple dise: Amen! Louez l’Éternel!
Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, from one age even unto another, And all the people, shall say, Amen! Praise ye Yah!
