Philémon 1
1 Paul, prisonnier de Jésus-Christ, et le frère Timothée, à Philémon, notre bien-aimé et notre compagnon d’œuvre,
Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ, and brother Timothy, to Philemon the beloved also our fellow-laborer,
2 à la sœur Apphia, à Archippe, notre compagnon de combat, et à l’Église qui est dans ta maison:
and to sister Apphia, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and the church in your house.
3 que la grâce et la paix vous soient données de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ!
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Je rends continuellement grâces à mon Dieu, faisant mention de toi dans mes prières,
I give thanks to my God always, making mention of you in my prayers,
5 parce que je suis informé de la foi que tu as au Seigneur Jésus et de ta charité pour tous les saints.
hearing about your divine love, and the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and all the saints;
6 Je lui demande que ta participation à la foi soit efficace pour la cause de Christ, en faisant reconnaître en nous toute espèce de bien.
in order that the fellowship of your faith may be efficient in the perfect knowledge of every good thing which is in you toward Christ.
7 J’ai, en effet, éprouvé beaucoup de joie et de consolation au sujet de ta charité; car par toi, frère, le cœur des saints a été tranquillisé.
For I had much joy and consolation over your divine love, because the affections of the saints have been refreshed by you, O brother.
8 C’est pourquoi, bien que j’aie en Christ toute liberté de te prescrire ce qui est convenable,
Therefore, having much boldness in Christ to command you to that which is appropriate,
9 c’est de préférence au nom de la charité que je t’adresse une prière, étant ce que je suis, Paul, vieillard, et de plus maintenant prisonnier de Jésus-Christ.
on account of the divine love, I the more exhort you, being such as Paul the aged, and now also the prisoner of Jesus Christ.
10 Je te prie pour mon enfant, que j’ai engendré étant dans les chaînes, Onésime,
I exhort you concerning my son, whom I begat in my bonds, Onesimus,
11 qui autrefois t’a été inutile, mais qui maintenant est utile, et à toi et à moi.
him at one time unprofitable to you, but now profitable both to you and to me: whom I have sent back to you,
12 Je te le renvoie lui, mes propres entrailles.
him, that is my own heart.
13 J’aurais désiré le retenir auprès de moi, pour qu’il me servît à ta place, pendant que je suis dans les chaînes pour l’Évangile.
Whom I did wish to have with me, in order that he might minister unto me in your stead in the bonds of the gospel:
14 Toutefois, je n’ai rien voulu faire sans ton avis, afin que ton bienfait ne soit pas comme forcé, mais qu’il soit volontaire.
but without your consent I did not wish to do anything; in order that your good might not be by constraint, but by the free will:
15 Peut-être a-t-il été séparé de toi pour un temps, afin que tu le recouvres pour l’éternité, (aiōnios g166)
for on this account he suddenly departed from you for an hour, that you might have him back forever; (aiōnios g166)
16 non plus comme un esclave, mais comme supérieur à un esclave, comme un frère bien-aimé, de moi particulièrement, et de toi à plus forte raison, soit dans la chair, soit dans le Seigneur.
no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a brother beloved, especially to me, and much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord:
17 Si donc tu me tiens pour ton ami, reçois-le comme moi-même.
if then you have me a comrade, receive him as myself.
18 Et s’il t’a fait quelque tort, ou s’il te doit quelque chose, mets-le sur mon compte.
If he has wronged you as to anything, or owes you anything, charge this to me.
19 Moi Paul, je l’écris de ma propre main, je paierai, pour ne pas te dire que tu te dois toi-même à moi.
I Paul have written with my own hand, I will pay it: not that I may say to you that you even owe yourself to me.
20 Oui, frère, que j’obtienne de toi cet avantage, dans le Seigneur; tranquillise mon cœur en Christ.
Yea, brother, let me rejoice over you in the Lord: refresh my heart in Christ.
21 C’est en comptant sur ton obéissance que je t’écris, sachant que tu feras même au-delà de ce que je dis.
Having confidence in your obedience I have written to you, knowing that you will do even more than those things which I say.
22 En même temps, prépare-moi un logement, car j’espère vous être rendu, grâce à vos prières.
And at the same time also prepare for me a lodging: for I hope that through your prayers I will be consigned unto you.
23 Épaphras, mon compagnon de captivité en Jésus-Christ,
Epaphras, my fellow-soldier in Christ Jesus;
24 te salue, ainsi que Marc, Aristarque, Démas, Luc, mes compagnons d’œuvre.
Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-workers, salute you.
25 Que la grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec votre esprit!
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
