1 L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:

And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:

2 Fais-toi deux trompettes d’argent; tu les feras d’argent battu. Elles te serviront pour la convocation de l’assemblée et pour le départ des camps.

Make thee two trumpets of silver, of beaten work, shalt thou make them, —and they shall be unto thee for calling the assembly, and for setting forward the camps.

3 Quand on en sonnera, toute l’assemblée se réunira auprès de toi, à l’entrée de la tente d’assignation.

As soon as they blow therewith, so soon shall all the assembly assemble themselves unto thee, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting.

4 Si l’on ne sonne que d’une trompette, les princes, les chefs des milliers d’Israël, se réuniront auprès de toi.

And, if, only once, they blow, then shall the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, gather themselves unto thee.

5 Quand vous sonnerez avec éclat, ceux qui campent à l’orient partiront;

But when ye blow an alarm, then shall set forward the camps that are encamped eastwards;

6 quand vous sonnerez avec éclat pour la seconde fois, ceux qui campent au midi partiront: on sonnera avec éclat pour leur départ.

and when ye blow a second alarm, then shall set forward the camps that are encamped southwards, —an alarm, shall they blow for setting them forward,

7 Vous sonnerez aussi pour convoquer l’assemblée, mais vous ne sonnerez pas avec éclat.

But in calling together the convocation, ye shall blow but shall not sound an alarm.

8 Les fils d’Aaron, les sacrificateurs, sonneront des trompettes. Ce sera une loi perpétuelle pour vous et pour vos descendants.

And, the sons of Aaron the priests, shall blow with the trumpets, —and it shall be unto you for a statute age-abiding, unto your generations.

9 Lorsque, dans votre pays, vous irez à la guerre contre l’ennemi qui vous combattra, vous sonnerez des trompettes avec éclat, et vous serez présents au souvenir de l’Éternel, votre Dieu, et vous serez délivrés de vos ennemis.

And when ye go into war in your land against the assailant that assaileth you, then shall ye blow an alarm with the trumpets, —and bring yourselves to mind before Yahweh your God, and be saved, from your enemies,

10 Dans vos jours de joie, dans vos fêtes, et à vos nouvelles lunes, vous sonnerez des trompettes, en offrant vos holocaustes et vos sacrifices d’actions de grâces, et elles vous mettront en souvenir devant votre Dieu. Je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu.

And in your day of rejoicing and in your appointed seasons and in the beginnings of your months, then shall ye blow with the trumpets, over your ascending-sacrifices, and over your peace-offerings, —so shall they be unto you for a memorial before your God. I—Yahweh, am your God.

11 Le vingtième jour du second mois de la seconde année, la nuée s’éleva de dessus le tabernacle du témoignage.

And so it came to pass in the second year, in the second month on the twentieth of the month, that the cloud lifted itself up, from off the habitation of the testimony;

12 Et les enfants d’Israël partirent du désert de Sinaï, selon l’ordre fixé pour leur marche. La nuée s’arrêta dans le désert de Paran.

and the sons of Israel set forward by their removals from the desert of Sinai, and then the cloud abode in the desert of Paran.

13 Ils firent ce premier départ sur l’ordre de l’Éternel par Moïse.

Thus then did they set forward for the first time, —at the bidding of Yahweh, by the hand of Moses.

14 La bannière du camp des fils de Juda partit la première, avec ses corps d’armée. Le corps d’armée de Juda était commandé par Nachschon, fils d’Amminadab;

So the standard of the camp of the sons of Judah set forward first, by their hosts, and over his own host, was Nahshon, son of Amminadab;

15 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils d’Issacar, par Nethaneel, fils de Tsuar;

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, Nethanel, son of Zuar;

16 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Zabulon, par Éliab, fils de Hélon.

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun, Eliab, son of Helon.

17 Le tabernacle fut démonté; et les fils de Guerschon et les fils de Merari partirent, portant le tabernacle.

Then was taken down the habitation, —and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward bearing the habitation.

18 La bannière du camp de Ruben partit, avec ses corps d’armée. Le corps d’armée de Ruben était commandé par Élitsur, fils de Schedéur;

Then set forward the standard of the camp of Reuben, by their hosts, —and over his own host, Elizur, son of Shedeur;

19 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Siméon, par Schelumiel, fils de Tsurischaddaï;

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai;

20 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Gad, par Éliasaph, fils de Déuel.

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Gad, Eliasaph, son of Deuel.

21 Les Kehathites partirent, portant le sanctuaire; et l’on dressait le tabernacle en attendant leur arrivée.

Then set forward the Kohathites, bearing the sanctuary, —and so the habitation was reared by the time they came in.

22 La bannière du camp des fils d’Éphraïm partit, avec ses corps d’armée. Le corps d’armée d’Éphraïm était commandé par Élischama, fils d’Ammihud;

Then set forward the standard of the camp of the sons of Ephraim by their hosts, —and over his own host, was Elishama son of Ammihud;

23 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Manassé, par Gamliel, fils de Pedahtsur;

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur;

24 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Benjamin, par Abidan, fils de Guideoni.

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, Abidan, son of Gideoni.

25 La bannière du camp des fils de Dan partit, avec ses corps d’armée: elle formait l’arrière-garde de tous les camps. Le corps d’armée de Dan était commandé par Ahiézer, fils d’Ammischaddaï;

Then set forward the standard of the camp of the sons of Dan, bringing up the rear of all the camps, by their hosts, —and over his own host, Ahiezur, son of Ammishaddai;

26 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils d’Aser, par Paguiel, fils d’Ocran;

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Asher, Pagiel, son of Ochran;

27 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Nephthali, par Ahira, fils d’Énan.

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, Ahira, son of Enan.

28 Tel fut l’ordre d’après lequel les enfants d’Israël se mirent en marche selon leurs corps d’armée; et c’est ainsi qu’ils partirent.

These, were the settings-forward of the sons of Israel by their hosts, —thus did they set forward.

29 Moïse dit à Hobab, fils de Réuel, le Madianite, beau-père de Moïse: Nous partons pour le lieu dont l’Éternel a dit: Je vous le donnerai. Viens avec nous, et nous te ferons du bien, car l’Éternel a promis de faire du bien à Israël.

Then said Moses to Hobab, son of Raguel the Midianite, father-in-law of Moses: Setting forward, are we unto the place of which Yahweh hath said, The same, will I give unto you, —Oh come with us and we will do thee good, for, Yahweh, hath spoken good, concerning Israel.

30 Hobab lui répondit: Je n’irai point; mais j’irai dans mon pays et dans ma patrie.

And he said unto him, I will not go, —but unto my own land, and unto my own kindred, will I go.

31 Et Moïse dit: Ne nous quitte pas, je te prie; puisque tu connais les lieux où nous campons dans le désert, tu nous serviras de guide.

Then said he: I beseech thee, do not forsake us, —for, on this account, hast thou come to know of our encamping in the desert, so shalt thou be unto us as eyes;

32 Et si tu viens avec nous, nous te ferons jouir du bien que l’Éternel nous fera.

and it shall be if thou wilt go with us, —yea it shall be that with the very good wherewith Yahweh shall do us good, will we do good unto thee.

33 Ils partirent de la montagne de l’Éternel, et marchèrent trois jours; l’arche de l’alliance de l’Éternel partit devant eux, et fit une marche de trois jours, pour leur chercher un lieu de repos.

So then they went forward, from the mountain of Yahweh, a journey of three days, —and the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, was going before them a journey of three days, to search out for them a resting-place,

34 La nuée de l’Éternel était au-dessus d’eux pendant le jour, lorsqu’ils partaient du camp.

And the cloud of Yahweh, was over them by day, —when they set forward out of the camp.

35 Quand l’arche partait, Moïse disait: Lève-toi, Éternel! Et que tes ennemis soient dispersés! Que ceux qui te haïssent fuient devant ta face!

And it came to pass when the ark set forward, that Moses said: Arise, O Yahweh! and scattered be thy foes, Let them that hate thee flee before thee;

36 Et quand on la posait, il disait: Reviens, Éternel, aux myriades des milliers d’Israël!

But when it rested, he said, —Return, O Yahweh! unto the myriads of the thousands of Israel.
