Néhémie 7
1 Lorsque la muraille fut rebâtie et que j’eus posé les battants des portes, on établit dans leurs fonctions les portiers, les chantres et les Lévites.
And it came to pass, when the wall was built, that I set up the doors; and then were appointed the gatekeepers and the singers and the [other] Levites [to their office].
2 Je donnai mes ordres à Hanani, mon frère, et à Hanania, chef de la citadelle de Jérusalem, homme supérieur au grand nombre par sa fidélité et par sa crainte de Dieu.
And I gave my brother Chanani, and Chananyah the commander of the fortress, charge over Jerusalem; for he was esteemed a faithful man, and one that feared God these many days.
3 Je leur dis: Les portes de Jérusalem ne s’ouvriront pas avant que la chaleur du soleil soit venue, et l’on fermera les battants aux verrous en votre présence; les habitants de Jérusalem feront la garde, chacun à son poste devant sa maison.
And I said unto them, The gates of Jerusalem must not be opened until the sun be hot; and while ye stand by, let them shut the doors, and do ye bar them; and station watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one opposite to his house.
4 La ville était spacieuse et grande, mais peu peuplée, et les maisons n’étaient pas bâties.
But the city was roomy in space and large: while the people therein were few, and the houses were not yet built.
5 Mon Dieu me mit au cœur d’assembler les grands, les magistrats et le peuple, pour en faire le dénombrement. Je trouvai un registre généalogique de ceux qui étaient montés les premiers, et j’y vis écrit ce qui suit.
Then did my God put it into my heart, and I assembled together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might give in their genealogy; and I found a register of the genealogy of those who were come up at the first, and I found written therein:
6 Voici ceux de la province qui revinrent de l’exil, ceux que Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, avait emmenés captifs, et qui retournèrent à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun dans sa ville.
These arc the children of the province, that came up out of the captivity of the exiles, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried into exile, and who returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his own city;
7 Ils partirent avec Zorobabel, Josué, Néhémie, Azaria, Raamia, Nachamani, Mardochée, Bilschan, Mispéreth, Bigvaï, Nehum, Baana. Nombre des hommes du peuple d’Israël:
Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua', Nehemiah, 'Azaryah, Ra'amyah, Nachamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Misspereth, Bigvai, Nechum, Ba'anah. The number of the men of the people of Israel was:
8 les fils de Pareosch, deux mille cent soixante-douze;
The children of Par'osh, two thousand one hundred and seventy and two.
9 les fils de Schephathia, trois cent soixante-douze;
The children of Shephatyah, three hundred seventy and two.
10 les fils d’Arach, six cent cinquante-deux;
The children of Arach, six hundred fifty and two.
11 les fils de Pachath-Moab, des fils de Josué et de Joab, deux mille huit cent dix-huit;
The children of Pachath-moab, of the children of Jeshua' and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred and eighteen.
12 les fils d’Élam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;
The children of 'Elam, one thousand two hundred fifty and four.

60 Total des Néthiniens et des fils des serviteurs de Salomon: trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.
All the temple-servants, and the children of Solomon' servants, were three hundred ninety and two.
61 Voici ceux qui partirent de Thel-Mélach, de Thel-Harscha, de Kerub-Addon, et d’Immer, et qui ne purent pas faire connaître leur maison paternelle et leur race, pour prouver qu’ils étaient d’Israël.
And these were they who came up from Thel-melach, Thelcharsha, Kerub, Addon, and Immer, but they could not tell their family division and their descent, whether they were of Israel.
62 Les fils de Delaja, les fils de Tobija, les fils de Nekoda, six cent quarante-deux.
The children of Delayah, the children of Tobiyah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.
63 Et parmi les sacrificateurs: les fils de Hobaja, les fils d’Hakkots, les fils de Barzillaï, qui avait pris pour femme une des filles de Barzillaï, le Galaadite, et fut appelé de leur nom.
And of the priests: The children of Chobayah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai who had taken a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gil'adite, and was called after their name.
64 Ils cherchèrent leurs titres généalogiques, mais ils ne les trouvèrent point. On les exclut du sacerdoce,
These sought for their family register, but it was not found: wherefore they were excluded, as unfit, from the priesthood.
65 et le gouverneur leur dit de ne pas manger des choses très saintes jusqu’à ce qu’un sacrificateur eût consulté l’urim et le thummim.
And the Thirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there should stand up a priest with the Urim and Thummim.
66 L’assemblée tout entière était de quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante personnes,
The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and sixty:
67 sans compter leurs serviteurs et leurs servantes, au nombre de sept mille trois cent trente-sept. Parmi eux se trouvaient deux cent quarante-cinq chantres et chanteuses.
Besides these were their man-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred and forty and five singing men and singing women.
68 Ils avaient sept cent trente-six chevaux, deux cent quarante-cinq mulets,
Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
69 quatre cent trente-cinq chameaux, et six mille sept cent vingt ânes.
[Their] camels, four hundred thirty and five: [their] asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
70 Plusieurs des chefs de famille firent des dons pour l’œuvre. Le gouverneur donna au trésor mille dariques d’or, cinquante coupes, cinq cent trente tuniques sacerdotales.
And a portion of the chiefs of the divisions gave unto the work. The Thirshatha gave to the treasure, of gold one thousand drachms, fifty bowls, five hundred and thirty coats for the priests.
71 Les chefs de familles donnèrent au trésor de l’œuvre vingt mille dariques d’or et deux mille deux cents mines d’argent.
And some of the chiefs of the divisions gave to the treasury of the work, of gold twenty thousand drachms, and of silver two thousand and two hundred manehs.
72 Le reste du peuple donna vingt mille dariques d’or, deux mille mines d’argent, et soixante-sept tuniques sacerdotales.
And what the rest of the people gave was, of gold twenty thousand drachms, and of silver two thousand manehs, and priests coats sixty and seven.
73 Les sacrificateurs et les Lévites, les portiers, les chantres, les gens du peuple, les Néthiniens et tout Israël s’établirent dans leurs villes. Le septième mois arriva, et les enfants d’Israël étaient dans leurs villes.
So the priests, and the Levites, and the gatekeepers, and the singers, and some of the people, and the temple-servants, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities: and so came round the seventh month, while the children of Israel were in their cities.
