Jérémie 30
1 La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de l’Éternel, en ces mots:
The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 Ainsi parle l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël: Écris dans un livre toutes les paroles que je t’ai dites.
Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.
3 Voici, les jours viennent, dit l’Éternel, où je ramènerai les captifs de mon peuple d’Israël et de Juda, dit l’Éternel; je les ramènerai dans le pays que j’ai donné à leurs pères, et ils le posséderont.
For, behold, days are coming, saith the Lord, when I will bring back again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the Lord; and I will cause them to return to the land that I have given to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
4 Ce sont ici les paroles que l’Éternel a prononcées sur Israël et sur Juda.
And these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah;
5 Ainsi parle l’Éternel: Nous entendons des cris d’effroi; C’est l’épouvante, ce n’est pas la paix.
For thus hath said the Lord, A voice of terror have we heard, dread, and no peace.
6 Informez-vous, et regardez si un mâle enfante! Pourquoi vois-je tous les hommes les mains sur leurs reins, Comme une femme en travail? Pourquoi tous les visages sont-ils devenus pâles?
Ask ye now, and see whether a male doth give birth to a child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in giving birth? and why are all faces turned pale?
7 Malheur! Car ce jour est grand; Il n’y en a point eu de semblable. C’est un temps d’angoisse pour Jacob; Mais il en sera délivré.
Alas, for that day is great, there is none like it; and a time of distress it is unto Jacob; yet out of it shall he be saved.
8 En ce jour-là, dit l’Éternel des armées, Je briserai son joug de dessus ton cou, Je romprai tes liens, Et des étrangers ne t’assujettiront plus.
And it shall come to pass on that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and thy bands will I burst asunder; and strangers shall not make him serve any more;
9 Ils serviront l’Éternel, leur Dieu, Et David, leur roi, que je leur susciterai.
But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.
10 Et toi, mon serviteur Jacob, ne crains pas, dit l’Éternel; Ne t’effraie pas, Israël! Car je te délivrerai de la terre lointaine, Je délivrerai ta postérité du pays où elle est captive; Jacob reviendra, il jouira du repos et de la tranquillité, Et il n’y aura personne pour le troubler.
And thou—do not fear, O my servant Jacob, saith the Lord; and be not dismayed, O Israel; for, behold, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity: and Jacob shall return, and shall be at rest, and be secure, with none to terrify him.
11 Car je suis avec toi, dit l’Éternel, pour te délivrer; J’anéantirai toutes les nations parmi lesquelles je t’ai dispersé, Mais toi, je ne t’anéantirai pas; Je te châtierai avec équité, Je ne puis pas te laisser impuni.
For with thee am I, saith the Lord, to save thee: though I make a full end of all the nations whither I have scattered thee, yet of thee will I not make a full end; but I will correct thee in moderation, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.
12 Ainsi parle l’Éternel: Ta blessure est grave, Ta plaie est douloureuse.
For thus hath said the Lord, Incurable is thy bruise, and painful, thy wound.
13 Nul ne défend ta cause, pour bander ta plaie; Tu n’as ni remède, ni moyen de guérison.
There is no one to plead thy cause, to bind up [thy wound]: useful remedies there are none for thee.
14 Tous ceux qui t’aimaient t’oublient, Aucun ne prend souci de toi; Car je t’ai frappée comme frappe un ennemi, Je t’ai châtiée avec violence, A cause de la multitude de tes iniquités, Du grand nombre de tes péchés.
All thy lovers have forgotten thee; thee they seek not; for with the blow of an enemy have I smitten thee, with cruel chastisement, for the multitude of thy iniquity, because thy sins were so numerous.
15 Pourquoi te plaindre de ta blessure, De la douleur que cause ton mal? C’est à cause de la multitude de tes iniquités, Du grand nombre de tes péchés, Que je t’ai fait souffrir ces choses.
Why wilt thou cry out because of thy breach? for thy pain which is incurable? because of the multitude of thy iniquity, because thy sins were so numerous, have I done these things unto thee.
16 Cependant, tous ceux qui te dévorent seront dévorés, Et tous tes ennemis, tous, iront en captivité; Ceux qui te dépouillent seront dépouillés, Et j’abandonnerai au pillage tous ceux qui te pillent.
Nevertheless all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thy adversaries, all of them, shall go into captivity; and they that plunder thee shall be [given up] to plunder, and all that prey upon thee will I give up for a prey.
17 Mais je te guérirai, je panserai tes plaies, Dit l’Éternel. Car ils t’appellent la repoussée, Cette Sion dont nul ne prend souci.
For I will place a healing plaster on thy bruise, and of thy wounds will I cure thee, saith the Lord; because they called thee “an Outcast.” “This is Zion, whom no one seeketh after.”
18 Ainsi parle l’Éternel: Voici, je ramène les captifs des tentes de Jacob, J’ai compassion de ses demeures; La ville sera rebâtie sur ses ruines, Le palais sera rétabli comme il était.
Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will bring back again the captivity of the tents of Jacob, and on his dwelling-places will I have mercy; and the city shall be rebuilt upon her own heap of ruins, and the palace shall be inhabited after its [ancient] manner.
19 Du milieu d’eux s’élèveront des actions de grâces Et des cris de réjouissance; Je les multiplierai, et ils ne diminueront pas; Je les honorerai, et ils ne seront pas méprisés.
And there shall proceed out of them thanksgiving, and the voice of those that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be diminished; I will also make them numerous, and they shall not be made few in number.
20 Ses fils seront comme autrefois, Son assemblée subsistera devant moi, Et je châtierai tous ses oppresseurs.
And their children shall be as aforetimes, and their congregation shall be firmly established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them.
21 Son chef sera tiré de son sein, Son dominateur sortira du milieu de lui; Je le ferai approcher, et il viendra vers moi; Car qui oserait de lui-même s’approcher de moi? Dit l’Éternel.
And their leader shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me; for who is this that will venture of his own heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord.
22 Vous serez mon peuple, Et je serai votre Dieu.
And ye shall be unto me for a people, and I will be unto you for a God.
23 Voici, la tempête de l’Éternel, la fureur éclate, L’orage se précipite, Il fond sur la tête des méchants.
Behold, the storm-wind of the Lord goeth forth with fury, an abiding storm-wind: upon the head of the wicked shall it fall.
24 La colère ardente de l’Éternel ne se calmera pas, Jusqu’à ce qu’il ait accompli, exécuté les desseins de son cœur. Vous le comprendrez dans la suite des temps.
The fierceness of the anger of the Lord will not turn back, until he have done, and until he have fulfilled the purposes of his heart: in the latter days shall ye understand this.
