Ézéchiel 36
1 Et toi, fils de l’homme, prophétise sur les montagnes d’Israël! Tu diras: Montagnes d’Israël, écoutez la parole de l’Éternel!
“But as for you, son of man, prophesy over the mountains of Israel, and you shall say: O mountains of Israel, listen to the word of the Lord.
2 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Parce que l’ennemi a dit sur vous: Ah! Ah! Ces hauteurs éternelles sont devenues notre propriété!
Thus says the Lord God: Because the enemy has said about you: ‘It is well! The everlasting heights have been given to us as an inheritance!’
3 Prophétise et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Oui, parce qu’on a voulu de toutes parts vous dévaster et vous engloutir, Pour que vous soyez la propriété des autres nations, Parce que vous avez été l’objet des discours et des propos des peuples,
because of this, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord God: Because you have been made desolate, and you have been trampled on every side, and you have been made into an inheritance for the remainder of the nations, and because you rose up, over the tip of the tongue and over the shame of the people,
4 Montagnes d’Israël, écoutez la parole du Seigneur, de l’Éternel! Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel, Aux montagnes et aux collines, Aux ruisseaux et aux vallées, Aux ruines désertes et aux villes abandonnées, Qui ont servi de proie et de risée Aux autres nations d’alentour;
because of this, O mountains of Israel, listen to the word of the Lord God. Thus says the Lord God to the mountains, and to the hills, to the torrents, and to the valleys, and to the deserts, and to the ruins, and to the forsaken cities, which have been depopulated and ridiculed by the remainder of the nations all around:
5 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Oui, dans le feu de ma jalousie, Je parle contre les autres nations et contre Édom tout entier, Qui se sont donné mon pays en propriété, Avec toute la joie de leur cœur et le mépris de leur âme, Afin d’en piller les produits.
Because of this, thus says the Lord God: In the fire of my zeal, I have spoken about the remainder of the nations, and about all of Idumea, who have given my land to themselves, joyfully, as an inheritance, and with all the heart and mind, and who have cast it out, so that they may lay waste to it.
6 C’est pourquoi prophétise sur le pays d’Israël, Dis aux montagnes et aux collines, Aux ruisseaux et aux vallées: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Voici, je parle dans ma jalousie et dans ma fureur, Parce que vous portez l’ignominie des nations.
Therefore, prophesy over the soil of Israel, and you shall say to the mountains, and to the hills, to the ridges, and to the valleys: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I have spoken in my zeal and in my fury, because you have endured the shame of the Gentiles.
7 C’est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Je lève ma main! Ce sont les nations qui vous entourent Qui porteront elles-mêmes leur ignominie.
Therefore, thus says the Lord God: I have lifted up my hand, so that the Gentiles, who are all around you, will themselves bear their shame.
8 Et vous, montagnes d’Israël, vous pousserez vos rameaux, Et vous porterez vos fruits pour mon peuple d’Israël; Car ces choses sont près d’arriver.
But as for you, O mountains of Israel, spring forth your branches, and bear your fruit, to my people Israel. For they are close to their advent.
9 Voici, je vous serai favorable, Je me tournerai vers vous, Et vous serez cultivées et ensemencées.
For behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you will be plowed, and you will receive seed.
10 Je mettrai sur vous des hommes en grand nombre, La maison d’Israël tout entière; Les villes seront habitées, Et l’on rebâtira sur les ruines.
And I will multiply men among you and among all the house of Israel. And the cities shall be inhabited, and the ruinous places shall be restored.
11 Je multiplierai sur vous les hommes et les animaux; Ils multiplieront et seront féconds; Je veux que vous soyez habitées comme auparavant, Et je vous ferai plus de bien qu’autrefois; Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel.
And I will fill you again with men and with cattle. And they will be multiplied, and they will increase. And I will cause you to live as from the beginning, and I will give you even greater gifts than those you had from the start. And you shall know that I am the Lord.
12 Je ferai marcher sur vous des hommes, mon peuple d’Israël, Et ils te posséderont; Tu seras leur héritage, Et tu ne les détruiras plus.
And I will lead men over you, over my people Israel, and they will possess you as an inheritance. And you shall be to them as an inheritance. And you shall no longer be permitted to be without them.
13 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Parce qu’on vous dit: Tu as dévoré des hommes, Tu as détruit ta propre nation,
Thus says the Lord God: Because they are saying about you, ‘You are a woman who devours men, and you are strangling your own nation,’
14 A cause de cela tu ne dévoreras plus d’hommes, Tu ne détruiras plus ta nation, Dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
because of this, you shall no longer consume men, and you shall no longer harm your own nation, says the Lord God.
15 Je ne te ferai plus entendre les outrages des nations, Et tu ne porteras plus l’opprobre des peuples; Tu ne détruiras plus ta nation, Dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
Neither will I permit men to discover in you the shame of the Gentiles any more. And you shall never again bear the reproach of the peoples. And you shall not send your people away any more, says the Lord God.”
16 La parole de l’Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
17 Fils de l’homme, ceux de la maison d’Israël, quand ils habitaient leur pays, l’ont souillé par leur conduite et par leurs œuvres; leur conduite a été devant moi comme la souillure d’une femme pendant son impureté.
“Son of man, the house of Israel lived on their own soil, and they defiled it with their ways and with their intentions. Their way, in my sight, became like the uncleanness of a menstruous woman.
18 Alors j’ai répandu ma fureur sur eux, à cause du sang qu’ils avaient versé dans le pays, et des idoles dont ils l’avaient souillé.
And so I poured out my indignation upon them, because of the blood which they shed upon the land, and because they defiled it with their idols.
19 Je les ai dispersés parmi les nations, et ils ont été répandus en divers pays; je les ai jugés selon leur conduite et selon leurs œuvres.
And I dispersed them among the Gentiles, and they have been scattered among the lands. I have judged them according to their ways and their plans.
20 Ils sont arrivés chez les nations où ils allaient, et ils ont profané mon saint nom, en sorte qu’on disait d’eux: C’est le peuple de l’Éternel, c’est de son pays qu’ils sont sortis.
And when they walked among the Gentiles, to whom they had entered, they defiled my holy name, though it was being said about them: ‘This is the people of the Lord,’ and ‘They went forth from his land.’
21 Et j’ai voulu sauver l’honneur de mon saint nom, que profanait la maison d’Israël parmi les nations où elle est allée.
But I have spared my holy name, which the house of Israel has defiled among the Gentiles, to whom they entered.
22 C’est pourquoi dis à la maison d’Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Ce n’est pas à cause de vous que j’agis de la sorte, maison d’Israël; c’est à cause de mon saint nom, que vous avez profané parmi les nations où vous êtes allés.
For this reason, you shall say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: I will act, not for your sake, O house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have defiled among the Gentiles, to whom you entered.
23 Je sanctifierai mon grand nom, qui a été profané parmi les nations, que vous avez profané au milieu d’elles. Et les nations sauront que je suis l’Éternel, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel, quand je serai sanctifié par vous sous leurs yeux.
And I will sanctify my great name, which was defiled among the Gentiles, which you have defiled in their midst. So may the Gentiles know that I am the Lord, says the Lord of hosts, when I will have been sanctified in you, before their eyes.
24 Je vous retirerai d’entre les nations, je vous rassemblerai de tous les pays, et je vous ramènerai dans votre pays.
Certainly, I will take you away from the Gentiles, and I will gather you together from all the lands, and I will lead you into your own land.
25 Je répandrai sur vous une eau pure, et vous serez purifiés; je vous purifierai de toutes vos souillures et de toutes vos idoles.
And I will pour clean water over you, and you shall be cleansed from all your filth, and I will cleanse you from all your idols.
26 Je vous donnerai un cœur nouveau, et je mettrai en vous un esprit nouveau; j’ôterai de votre corps le cœur de pierre, et je vous donnerai un cœur de chair.
And I will give to you a new heart, and I will place in you a new spirit. And I will take away the heart of stone from your body, and I will give to you a heart of flesh.
27 Je mettrai mon esprit en vous, et je ferai en sorte que vous suiviez mes ordonnances, et que vous observiez et pratiquiez mes lois.
And I will place my Spirit in your midst. And I will act so that you may walk in my precepts and keep my judgments, and so that you may fulfill them.
28 Vous habiterez le pays que j’ai donné à vos pères; vous serez mon peuple, et je serai votre Dieu.
And you shall live in the land that I gave to your fathers. And you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
29 Je vous délivrerai de toutes vos souillures. J’appellerai le blé, et je le multiplierai; je ne vous enverrai plus la famine.
And I will save you from all your filth. And I will call for grain, and I will multiply it, and I will not impose a famine upon you.
30 Je multiplierai le fruit des arbres et le produit des champs, afin que vous n’ayez plus l’opprobre de la famine parmi les nations.
And I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field, so that you may no longer bear the disgrace of famine among the nations.
31 Alors vous vous souviendrez de votre conduite qui était mauvaise, et de vos actions qui n’étaient pas bonnes; vous vous prendrez vous-mêmes en dégoût, à cause de vos iniquités et de vos abominations.
And you shall remember your very wicked ways and your intentions, which were not good. And you will be displeased by your own iniquities and your own crimes.
32 Ce n’est pas à cause de vous que j’agis de la sorte, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel, sachez-le! Ayez honte et rougissez de votre conduite, maison d’Israël!
It is not for your sakes that I will act, says the Lord God; let this be known to you. Be confounded and ashamed over your own ways, O house of Israel.
33 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Le jour où je vous purifierai de toutes vos iniquités, je peuplerai les villes, et les ruines seront relevées;
Thus says the Lord God: In the day when I will have cleansed you from all your iniquities, and when I will have caused the cities to be inhabited, and when I will have restored the ruinous places,
34 la terre dévastée sera cultivée, tandis qu’elle était déserte aux yeux de tous les passants;
and when the deserted land will have been cultivated, which previously was desolate to the eyes of all who passed by,
35 et l’on dira: Cette terre dévastée est devenue comme un jardin d’Éden; et ces villes ruinées, désertes et abattues, sont fortifiées et habitées.
then they shall say: ‘This uncultivated land has become a garden of delight, and the cities, which were deserted and destitute and overturned, have been settled and fortified.’
36 Et les nations qui resteront autour de vous sauront que moi, l’Éternel, j’ai rebâti ce qui était abattu, et planté ce qui était dévasté. Moi, l’Éternel, j’ai parlé, et j’agirai.
And the Gentiles, those who remain around you, shall know that I, the Lord, have built up what was destroyed, and have planted what was uncultivated. I, the Lord, have spoken and acted.
37 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Voici encore sur quoi je me laisserai fléchir par la maison d’Israël, voici ce que je ferai pour eux; je multiplierai les hommes comme un troupeau.
Thus says the Lord God: Even in this time, the house of Israel shall find me, so that I may act for them. I will multiply them like a flock of men,
38 Les villes en ruines seront remplies de troupeaux d’hommes, pareils aux troupeaux consacrés, aux troupeaux qu’on amène à Jérusalem pendant ses fêtes solennelles. Et ils sauront que je suis l’Éternel.
like a holy flock, like the flock of Jerusalem in her solemnities. So shall the deserted cities be filled with flocks of men. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
