Exode 34

1 L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Taille deux tables de pierre comme les premières, et j’y écrirai les paroles qui étaient sur les premières tables que tu as brisées.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Hew for thyself two tables of stone like the first, and I have written on the tables the words which were on the first tables which thou hast broken;

2 Sois prêt de bonne heure, et tu monteras dès le matin sur la montagne de Sinaï; tu te tiendras là devant moi, sur le sommet de la montagne.

and be prepared at morning, and thou hast come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and hast stood before Me there, on the top of the mount,

3 Que personne ne monte avec toi, et que personne ne paraisse sur toute la montagne; et même que ni brebis ni bœufs ne paissent près de cette montagne.

and no man cometh up with thee, and also no man is seen in all the mount, also the flock and the herd do not feed over-against that mount.'

4 Moïse tailla deux tables de pierre comme les premières; il se leva de bon matin, et monta sur la montagne de Sinaï, selon l’ordre que l’Éternel lui avait donné, et il prit dans sa main les deux tables de pierre.

And he heweth two tables of stone like the first, and Moses riseth early in the morning, and goeth up unto mount Sinai, as Jehovah commanded him, and he taketh in his hand two tables of stone.

5 L’Éternel descendit dans une nuée, se tint là auprès de lui, et proclama le nom de l’Éternel.

And Jehovah cometh down in a cloud, and stationeth Himself with him there, and calleth in the Name of Jehovah,

6 Et l’Éternel passa devant lui, et s’écria: L’Éternel, l’Éternel, Dieu miséricordieux et compatissant, lent à la colère, riche en bonté et en fidélité,

and Jehovah passeth over before his face, and calleth: 'Jehovah, Jehovah God, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness and truth,

7 qui conserve son amour jusqu’à mille générations, qui pardonne l’iniquité, la rébellion et le péché, mais qui ne tient point le coupable pour innocent, et qui punit l’iniquité des pères sur les enfants et sur les enfants des enfants jusqu’à la troisième et à la quatrième génération!

keeping kindness for thousands, taking away iniquity, and transgression, and sin, and not entirely acquitting, charging iniquity of fathers on children, and on children's children, on a third [generation], and on a fourth.'

8 Aussitôt Moïse s’inclina à terre et se prosterna.

And Moses hasteth, and boweth to the earth, and doth obeisance,

9 Il dit: Seigneur, si j’ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, que le Seigneur marche au milieu de nous, car c’est un peuple au cou roide; pardonne nos iniquités et nos péchés, et prends-nous pour ta possession.

and saith, 'If, I pray Thee, I have found grace in Thine eyes, O my Lord, let my Lord, I pray Thee, go in our midst (for it [is] a stiff-necked people), and thou hast forgiven our iniquity and our sin, and hast inherited us.'

10 L’Éternel répondit: Voici, je traite une alliance. Je ferai, en présence de tout ton peuple, des prodiges qui n’ont eu lieu dans aucun pays et chez aucune nation; tout le peuple qui t’environne verra l’œuvre de l’Éternel, et c’est par toi que j’accomplirai des choses terribles.

And He saith, 'Lo, I am making a covenant: before all thy people I do wonders, which have not been done in all the earth, or in any nation, and all the people in whose midst thou [art] have seen the work of Jehovah, for it [is] fearful that which I am doing with thee.

11 Prends garde à ce que je t’ordonne aujourd’hui. Voici, je chasserai devant toi les Amoréens, les Cananéens, les Héthiens, les Phéréziens, les Héviens et les Jébusiens.

'Observe for thyself that which I am commanding thee to-day: lo, I am casting out from before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite;

12 Garde-toi de faire alliance avec les habitants du pays où tu dois entrer, de peur qu’ils ne soient un piège pour toi.

take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitant of the land into which thou art going, lest it become a snare in thy midst;

13 Au contraire, vous renverserez leurs autels, vous briserez leurs statues, et vous abattrez leurs idoles.

for their altars ye break down, and their standing pillars ye shiver, and its shrines ye cut down;

14 Tu ne te prosterneras point devant un autre dieu; car l’Éternel porte le nom de jaloux, il est un Dieu jaloux.

for ye do not bow yourselves to another god — for Jehovah, whose name [is] Zealous, is a zealous God.

15 Garde-toi de faire alliance avec les habitants du pays, de peur que, se prostituant à leurs dieux et leur offrant des sacrifices, ils ne t’invitent, et que tu ne manges de leurs victimes;

'Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitant of the land, and they have gone a-whoring after their gods, and have sacrificed to their gods, and [one] hath called to thee, and thou hast eaten of his sacrifice,

16 de peur que tu ne prennes de leurs filles pour tes fils, et que leurs filles, se prostituant à leurs dieux, n’entraînent tes fils à se prostituer à leurs dieux.

and thou hast taken of their daughters to thy sons, and their daughters have gone a-whoring after their gods, and have caused thy sons to go a-whoring after their gods;

17 Tu ne te feras point de dieu en fonte.

a molten god thou dost not make to thyself.

18 Tu observeras la fête des pains sans levain; pendant sept jours, au temps fixé dans le mois des épis, tu mangeras des pains sans levain, comme je t’en ai donné l’ordre, car c’est dans le mois des épis que tu es sorti d’Égypte.

'The feast of unleavened things thou dost keep; seven days thou dost eat unleavened things, as I have commanded thee, at an appointed time, the month of Abib: for in the month of Abib thou didst come out from Egypt.

19 Tout premier-né m’appartient, même tout mâle premier-né dans les troupeaux de gros et de menu bétail.

'All opening a womb [are] Mine, and every firstling of thy cattle born a male, ox or sheep;

20 Tu rachèteras avec un agneau le premier-né de l’âne; et si tu ne le rachètes pas, tu lui briseras la nuque. Tu rachèteras tout premier-né de tes fils; et l’on ne se présentera point à vide devant ma face.

and the firstling of an ass thou dost ransom with a lamb; and if thou dost not ransom, then thou hast beheaded it; every first-born of thy sons thou dost ransom, and they do not appear before Me empty.

21 Tu travailleras six jours, et tu te reposeras le septième jour; tu te reposeras, même au temps du labourage et de la moisson.

'Six days thou dost work, and on the seventh day thou dost rest; in ploughing-time and in harvest thou dost rest.

22 Tu célébreras la fête des semaines, des prémices de la moisson du froment, et la fête de la récolte, à la fin de l’année.

'And a feast of weeks thou dost observe for thyself; first-fruits of wheat-harvest; and the feast of in-gathering, at the revolution of the year.

23 Trois fois par an, tous les mâles se présenteront devant le Seigneur, l’Éternel, Dieu d’Israël.

'Three times in a year do all thy males appear before the Lord Jehovah, God of Israel;

24 Car je chasserai les nations devant toi, et j’étendrai tes frontières; et personne ne convoitera ton pays, pendant que tu monteras pour te présenter devant l’Éternel, ton Dieu, trois fois par an.

for I dispossess nations from before thee, and have enlarged thy border, and no man doth desire thy land in thy going up to appear before Jehovah thy God three times in a year.

25 Tu n’offriras point avec du pain levé le sang de la victime immolée en mon honneur; et le sacrifice de la fête de Pâque ne sera point gardé pendant la nuit jusqu’au matin.

'Thou dost not slaughter with a fermented thing the blood of My sacrifice; and the sacrifice of the feast of the passover doth not remain till morning:

26 Tu apporteras à la maison de L’Éternel, ton Dieu, les prémices des premiers fruits de la terre. Tu ne feras point cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.

the first of the first-fruits of the land thou dost bring into the house of Jehovah thy God; thou dost not boil a kid in its mother's milk.'

27 L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Écris ces paroles; car c’est conformément à ces paroles que je traite alliance avec toi et avec Israël.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Write for thyself these words, for, according to the tenor of these words I have made with thee a covenant, and with Israel.'

28 Moïse fut là avec l’Éternel quarante jours et quarante nuits. Il ne mangea point de pain, et il ne but point d’eau. Et l’Éternel écrivit sur les tables les paroles de l’alliance, les dix paroles.

And he is there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; bread he hath not eaten, and water he hath not drunk; and he writeth on the tables the matters of the covenant — the ten matters.

29 Moïse descendit de la montagne de Sinaï, ayant les deux tables du témoignage dans sa main, en descendant de la montagne; et il ne savait pas que la peau de son visage rayonnait, parce qu’il avait parlé avec l’Éternel.

And it cometh to pass, when Moses is coming down from mount Sinai (and the two tables of the testimony [are] in the hand of Moses in his coming down from the mount), that Moses hath not known that the skin of his face hath shone in His speaking with him,

30 Aaron et tous les enfants d’Israël regardèrent Moïse, et voici la peau de son visage rayonnait; et ils craignaient de s’approcher de lui.

and Aaron seeth — all the sons of Israel also — Moses, and lo, the skin of his face hath shone, and they are afraid of coming nigh unto him.

31 Moïse les appela; Aaron et tous les principaux de l’assemblée vinrent auprès de lui, et il leur parla.

And Moses calleth unto them, and Aaron and all the princes in the company return unto him, and Moses speaketh unto them;

32 Après cela, tous les enfants d’Israël s’approchèrent, et il leur donna tous les ordres qu’il avait reçus de l’Éternel, sur la montagne de Sinaï.

and afterwards have all the sons of Israel come nigh, and he chargeth them with all that Jehovah hath spoken with him in mount Sinai.

33 Lorsque Moïse eut achevé de leur parler, il mit un voile sur son visage.

And Moses finisheth speaking with them, and putteth on his face a vail;

34 Quand Moïse entrait devant l’Éternel, pour lui parler, il ôtait le voile, jusqu’à ce qu’il sortît; et quand il sortait, il disait aux enfants d’Israël ce qui lui avait été ordonné.

and in the going in of Moses before Jehovah to speak with Him, he turneth aside the vail until his coming out; and he hath come out and hath spoken unto the sons of Israel that which he is commanded;

35 Les enfants d’Israël regardaient le visage de Moïse, et voyaient que la peau de son visage rayonnait; et Moïse remettait le voile sur son visage jusqu’à ce qu’il entrât, pour parler avec l’Éternel.

and the sons of Israel have seen the face of Moses that the skin of the face of Moses hath shone, and Moses hath put back the vail on his face until his going in to speak with Him.
