1 Chroniques 5
1 Fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël. Car il était le premier-né; mais, parce qu’il souilla la couche de son père, son droit d’aînesse fut donné aux fils de Joseph, fils d’Israël; toutefois Joseph ne dut pas être enregistré dans les généalogies comme premier-né.
And the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel—for he was the first-born; but, when the defiled his father's bed, was his birthright given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: so that the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the first-birth.
2 Juda fut, à la vérité, puissant parmi ses frères, et de lui est issu un prince; mais le droit d’aînesse est à Joseph.
For Judah became the mightiest of his brothers, and the prince descended from him: while the first-birthright belonged to Joseph, —
3 Fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël: Hénoc, Pallu, Hetsron et Carmi.
The sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel were, Chanoch, and Pallu, Chezron, and Carmi.
4 Fils de Joël: Schemaeja, son fils; Gog, son fils; Schimeï, son fils;
The sons of Joel: Shema'yah his son, Gog his son, Shim'i his son,
5 Michée, son fils; Reaja, son fils; Baal, son fils;
Michah his son, Reayah his son, Ba'al his son,
6 Beéra, son fils, que Tilgath-Pilnéser, roi d’Assyrie, emmena captif: il était prince des Rubénites.
Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-pilneesser the king of Assyria carried into exile: he was the prince of the Reubenites.
7 Frères de Beéra, d’après leurs familles, tels qu’ils sont enregistrés dans les généalogies selon leurs générations: le premier, Jeïel; Zacharie;
And his brethren by their families, according to their genealogy after their generations, were, the chief, Je'iel, and Zecharyahu,
8 Béla, fils d’Azaz, fils de Schéma, fils de Joël. Béla habitait à Aroër, et jusqu’à Nebo et à Baal-Meon;
And Bela' the son of 'Azaz, the son of Shema', the son of Joel, who dwelt in 'Aro'er, and as far as Nebo and Ba'al-me'on;
9 à l’orient, il habitait jusqu’à l’entrée du désert depuis le fleuve de l’Euphrate, car leurs troupeaux étaient nombreux dans le pays de Galaad.
And to the eastward he dwelt as far as the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates; because their cattle were numerous in the land of Gil'ad.
10 Du temps de Saül, ils firent la guerre aux Hagaréniens, qui tombèrent entre leurs mains; et ils habitèrent dans leurs tentes, sur tout le côté oriental de Galaad.
And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarenes, who fell by their hand; and they dwelt in their tents in the whole front of the land to the east of Gil'ad.
11 Les fils de Gad habitaient vis-à-vis d’eux, dans le pays de Basan, jusqu’à Salca.
And the children of Gad dwelt alongside of them, in the land of Bashan as far as Salchah.
12 Joël, le premier, Schapham, le second, Jaenaï, et Schaphath, en Basan.
Joel the chief, and Shapham the next, and Ja'nai, and Shaphat in Bashan.
13 Leurs frères, d’après les maisons de leurs pères: Micaël, Meschullam, Schéba, Joraï, Jaecan, Zia et Éber, sept.
And their brethren according to their family divisions were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba', and Jorai, and Ya'kan, and Zia', and 'Eber, seven.
14 Voici les fils d’Abichaïl, fils de Huri, fils de Jaroach, fils de Galaad, fils de Micaël, fils de Jeschischaï, fils de Jachdo, fils de Buz;
These are the children of Abichayil the son of Churi, the son of Jaroach, the son of Gil'ad, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jachdo, the son of Buz:
15 Achi, fils d’Abdiel, fils de Guni, était chef des maisons de leurs pères.
Achi the son of Abdiel the son of Guni, the chief of their family division.
16 Ils habitaient en Galaad, en Basan, et dans les villes de leur ressort, et dans toutes les banlieues de Saron jusqu’à leurs extrémités.
And they dwelt in Gil'ad, in Bashan, and in its minor towns, and in all the open districts of Sharon, as far as their terminations.
17 Ils furent tous enregistrés dans les généalogies, du temps de Jotham, roi de Juda, et du temps de Jéroboam, roi d’Israël.
All these were recorded by their genealogies in the days of Jotham the king of Judah, and in the days of Jerobo'am the king of Israel.
18 Les fils de Ruben, les Gadites et la demi-tribu de Manassé avaient de vaillants hommes, portant le bouclier et l’épée, tirant de l’arc, et exercés à la guerre, au nombre de quarante-quatre mille sept cent soixante, en état d’aller à l’armée.
The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Menasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear shield and sword, and to draw the bow, and practised in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and sixty, that went out to the army.
19 Ils firent la guerre aux Hagaréniens, à Jethur, à Naphisch et à Nodab.
And they made war with the Hagarenes, and Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.
20 Ils reçurent du secours contre eux, et les Hagaréniens et tous ceux qui étaient avec eux furent livrés entre leurs mains. Car, pendant le combat, ils avaient crié à Dieu, qui les exauça, parce qu’ils s’étaient confiés en lui.
And they obtained help against them, and the Hagarenes were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them; for to God they cried in the battle, and he was entreated by them; because they put their trust in him.
21 Ils prirent leurs troupeaux, cinquante mille chameaux, deux cent cinquante mille brebis, deux mille ânes, et cent mille personnes;
And they led away captive their cattle: of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of human beings one hundred thousand.
22 car il y eut beaucoup de morts, parce que le combat venait de Dieu. Et ils s’établirent à leur place jusqu’au temps où ils furent emmenés captifs.
For there fell down many slain; because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their stead until the exile.
23 Les fils de la demi-tribu de Manassé habitaient dans le pays, depuis Basan jusqu’à Baal-Hermon et à Senir, et à la montagne d’Hermon; ils étaient nombreux.
And the children of the half tribe of Menasseh dwelt in the land: from Bashan unto Ba'al-chermon and Senir and mount Chermon were they numerous.
24 Voici les chefs des maisons de leurs pères: Épher, Jischeï, Éliel, Azriel, Jérémie, Hodavia et Jachdiel, vaillants hommes, gens de renom, chefs des maisons de leurs pères.
And these were the heads of their family divisions: namely, 'Epher, and Yish'i, and Eliel, and 'Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodavyah, and Jachdiel, mighty men of valor, famous men, [and] heads of their family divisions.
25 Mais ils péchèrent contre le Dieu de leurs pères, et ils se prostituèrent après les dieux des peuples du pays, que Dieu avait détruits devant eux.
But they trespassed against the God of their fathers, and went astray after the gods of the people of the land, whom God had destroyed from before them.
26 Le Dieu d’Israël excita l’esprit de Pul, roi d’Assyrie, et l’esprit de Tilgath-Pilnéser, roi d’Assyrie, et Tilgath-Pilnéser emmena captifs les Rubénites, les Gadites et la demi-tribu de Manassé, et il les conduisit à Chalach, à Chabor, à Hara, et au fleuve de Gozan, où ils sont demeurés jusqu’à ce jour.
And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul the king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilnesser the king of Assyria, and he carried them into exile, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Menasseh, and brought them unto Chalach, and Chabor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, even until this day.
