1 Chroniques 29

1 Le roi David dit à toute l’assemblée: Mon fils Salomon, le seul que Dieu ait choisi, est jeune et d’un âge faible, et l’ouvrage est considérable, car ce palais n’est pas pour un homme, mais il est pour l’Éternel Dieu.

Then said David the king unto all the convocation, Solomon my son, the one, of whom God hath made choice, is young and tender, —and, the work, is great, seeing that, not for man, is the palace, but for Yahweh Elohim.

2 J’ai mis toutes mes forces à préparer pour la maison de mon Dieu de l’or pour ce qui doit être d’or, de l’argent pour ce qui doit être d’argent, de l’airain pour ce qui doit être d’airain, du fer pour ce qui doit être de fer, et du bois pour ce qui doit être de bois, des pierres d’onyx et des pierres à enchâsser, des pierres brillantes et de diverses couleurs, toutes sortes de pierres précieuses, et du marbre blanc en quantité.

And, with all my might, have I made preparation for the house of my God, the gold for the gold, and the silver for the silver, and the bronze for the bronze, the iron for the iron, and the wood for the wood, —and beryl stones and settings, stones coloured and particoloured, and all manner of precious stones and stones of white marble, in abundance.

3 De plus, dans mon attachement pour la maison de mon Dieu, je donne à la maison de mon Dieu l’or et l’argent que je possède en propre, outre tout ce que j’ai préparé pour la maison du sanctuaire:

And yet further, because of my delighting in the house of my God, having a treasure of mine own in gold and silver, I have given for the house of my God, above and beyond all that I have prepared for the holy house:

4 trois mille talents d’or, d’or d’Ophir, et sept mille talents d’argent épuré, pour en revêtir les parois des bâtiments,

three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, —and seven thousand talents of refined silver, for overlaying the walls of the recesses.

5 l’or pour ce qui doit être d’or, et l’argent pour ce qui doit être d’argent, et pour tous les travaux qu’exécuteront les ouvriers. Qui veut encore présenter volontairement aujourd’hui ses offrandes à l’Éternel?

Of gold for the gold, and of silver for the silver, and for all manner of work in the hand of artificers, —Who then is ready to offer willingly, by filling his hand to-day, unto Yahweh?

6 Les chefs des maisons paternelles, les chefs des tribus d’Israël, les chefs de milliers et de centaines, et les intendants du roi firent volontairement des offrandes.

Then offered they willingly—the ancestral rulers and the rulers of the tribes of Israel, and the rulers of thousands and hundreds, even to the rulers of the work of the king;

7 Ils donnèrent pour le service de la maison de Dieu cinq mille talents d’or, dix mille dariques, dix mille talents d’argent, dix-huit mille talents d’airain, et cent mille talents de fer.

and gave for the service of the house of God, of gold, five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and, of silver, ten thousand talents, and, of bronze, eighteen thousand talents, —and, of iron, one hundred thousand talents.

8 Ceux qui possédaient des pierres les livrèrent pour le trésor de la maison de l’Éternel entre les mains de Jehiel, le Guerschonite.

And, every one with whom were found precious stones, gave to the treasure of the house of Yahweh, —unto the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.

9 Le peuple se réjouit de leurs offrandes volontaires, car c’était avec un cœur bien disposé qu’ils les faisaient à l’Éternel; et le roi David en eut aussi une grande joie.

So the people rejoiced because they willingly offered, for, with a perfect heart, offered they willingly unto Yahweh, —moreover also, David the king, rejoiced with great joy.

10 David bénit l’Éternel en présence de toute l’assemblée. Il dit: Béni sois-tu, d’éternité en éternité, Éternel, Dieu de notre père Israël.

Therefore did David bless Yahweh in the eyes of all the convocation, —and David said, Blessed art thou, O Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, from age even unto age.

11 A toi, Éternel, la grandeur, la force et la magnificence, l’éternité et la gloire, car tout ce qui est au ciel et sur la terre t’appartient; à toi, Éternel, le règne, car tu t’élèves souverainement au-dessus de tout!

Thine, O Yahweh, are Greatness, and Might, and Beauty, and Victory, and Majesty, nay! all in the heavens and in the earth, —thine, O Yahweh, is the kingdom, who art exalted above all, —as chief;

12 C’est de toi que viennent la richesse et la gloire, c’est toi qui domines sur tout, c’est dans ta main que sont la force et la puissance, et c’est ta main qui a le pouvoir d’agrandir et d’affermir toutes choses.

and, riches and honour, are from before thee, and, thou, art ruling over all, and, in thy hand, are power and might, —and, in thy hand, it is, to give greatness and strength unto any.

13 Maintenant, ô notre Dieu, nous te louons, et nous célébrons ton nom glorieux.

Now, therefore, O our God, we are giving thanks unto thee, —and offering praise, unto thy beautiful Name.

14 Car qui suis-je et qui est mon peuple, pour que nous puissions te faire volontairement ces offrandes? Tout vient de toi, et nous recevons de ta main ce que nous t’offrons.

And yet, who am, I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer willingly like this? for, from thee, is the whole, and, out of thine own hand, have we given unto thee;

15 Nous sommes devant toi des étrangers et des habitants, comme tous nos pères; nos jours sur la terre sont comme l’ombre, et il n’y a point d’espérance.

for, sojourners, are we before thee, and strangers, like all our fathers, —like a shadow, are our days upon the earth, and there is no hope.

16 Éternel, notre Dieu, c’est de ta main que viennent toutes ces richesses que nous avons préparées pour te bâtir une maison, à toi, à ton saint nom, et c’est à toi que tout appartient.

O Yahweh our God, all this abundance which we have prepared, to build thee a house for thy holy Name, out of thine own hand, it is, and, thine, is the whole.

17 Je sais, ô mon Dieu, que tu sondes le cœur, et que tu aimes la droiture; aussi je t’ai fait toutes ces offrandes volontaires dans la droiture de mon cœur, et j’ai vu maintenant avec joie ton peuple qui se trouve ici t’offrir volontairement ses dons.

But I know, O my God, that, thou, art proving the heart, and, with uprightness, wilt thou be pleased, —I, in the uprightness of my heart, have willingly offered all these things, now, therefore, thy people who are found here, have I seen with joy, offering willingly unto thee.

18 Éternel, Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et d’Israël, nos pères, maintiens à toujours dans le cœur de ton peuple ces dispositions et ces pensées, et affermis son cœur en toi.

O Yahweh, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, oh guard this age-abidingly, as the devised purpose of the heart of thy people, —and establish thou their heart, unto thyself.

19 Donne à mon fils Salomon un cœur dévoué à l’observation de tes commandements, de tes préceptes et de tes lois, afin qu’il mette en pratique toutes ces choses, et qu’il bâtisse le palais pour lequel j’ai fait des préparatifs.

Also, unto Solomon my son, give thou an undivided heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, —to do the whole, and to build the palace for which I have prepared.

20 David dit à toute l’assemblée: Bénissez l’Éternel, votre Dieu! Et toute l’assemblée bénit l’Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères. Ils s’inclinèrent et se prosternèrent devant l’Éternel et devant le roi.

Then said David, unto all the convocation, Bless, I beseech you, Yahweh your God. So all the convocation blessed Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and did bend their heads and bow themselves down unto Yahweh, and unto the king;

21 Le lendemain de ce jour, ils offrirent en sacrifice et en holocauste à l’Éternel mille taureaux, mille béliers et mille agneaux, avec les libations ordinaires, et d’autres sacrifices en grand nombre pour tout Israël.

and sacrificed unto Yahweh sacrifices, and caused to go up ascending-offerings unto Yahweh, on the morrow of that day, a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, a thousand young sheep, and the drink-offerings thereof, —and sacrifices in abundance, for all Israel.

22 Ils mangèrent et burent ce jour-là devant l’Éternel avec une grande joie, ils proclamèrent roi pour la seconde fois Salomon, fils de David, ils l’oignirent devant l’Éternel comme chef, et ils oignirent Tsadok comme sacrificateur.

And so they did eat and drink before Yahweh on that day, with great joy, —and they, the second time, made Solomon son of David king, and anointed him unto Yahweh to be chief ruler, and Zadok to be priest.

23 Salomon s’assit sur le trône de l’Éternel, comme roi à la place de David, son père. Il prospéra, et tout Israël lui obéit.

So Solomon took his seat upon the throne of Yahweh, as king, instead of David his father, and prospered, —and all Israel, hearkened unto him.

24 Tous les chefs et les héros, et même tous les fils du roi David se soumirent au roi Salomon.

And, all the rulers, and the heroes, yea moreover all the sons of King David, gave a hand, under Solomon the king.

25 L’Éternel éleva au plus haut degré Salomon sous les yeux de tout Israël, et il rendit son règne plus éclatant que ne fut celui d’aucun roi d’Israël avant lui.

And Yahweh magnified Solomon, exceedingly, before the eyes of all Israel, —and gave unto him a royal majesty, that had not been on any king before him, over Israel.

26 David, fils d’Isaï, régna sur tout Israël.

Thus, David son of Jesse, reigned over all Israel;

27 Le temps qu’il régna sur Israël fut de quarante ans: à Hébron il régna sept ans, et à Jérusalem il régna trente-trois ans.

and, the days that he reigned over Israel, were forty years, —in Hebron reigned he seven years, and in Jerusalem, reigned he, thirty-three.

28 Il mourut dans une heureuse vieillesse, rassasié de jours, de richesse et de gloire. Et Salomon, son fils, régna à sa place.

And he died in a good old age, satisfied with days, riches and honour, —and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.

29 Les actions du roi David, les premières et les dernières, sont écrites dans le livre de Samuel le voyant, dans le livre de Nathan le prophète, et dans le livre de Gad le prophète,

Now, the acts of David the king, first and last, behold them! written in the records of Samuel the seer, and in the records of Nathan the prophet, and in the records of Gad the seer:

30 avec tout son règne et tous ses exploits, et ce qui s’est passé de son temps, soit en Israël, soit dans tous les royaumes des autres pays.

with all his reign, and his might, —and the times which passed over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the lands.
