Sophonie 3
1 Ô ville insigne et mise à rançon, malheur à toi! La colombe
Woe to her that is rebellious and polluted, to the oppressing city!
2 n'a pas entendu Ma voix ni recueilli l'avertissement; elle n'a point eu foi au Seigneur, et ne s'est point approchée de son Dieu.
She hearkened not to any voice; she accepted no correction; in the Lord she did not trust; to her God she drew not near.
3 Ses princes sont, au milieu d'elle, comme des lions rugissants, et ses juges comme des loups d'Arabie; et ils n'ont pas subsisté jusqu'à l'aurore.
Her princes in her midst are roaring lions: her judges are evening wolves, they leave not a bone for the morning.
4 Ses prophètes, hommes méprisants, sont inspirés par le mauvais esprit; ses prêtres profanent les choses saintes, et ne respectent point la loi.
Her prophets are thoughtless men of treachery: her priests have profaned the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.
5 Mais le Seigneur juste est au milieu d'elles, et Il ne fera rien d'inique; demain Il produira Son jugement à la lumière: car Dieu ne Se cache point; Il ne connaît l'iniquité ni par exaction ni par violence.
The just Lord is in her midst, he will not do wrong; morning after morning doth he bring his justice to the light [of day], it never faileth; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
6 J'ai attiré les superbes dans la ruine; leurs tours sont en poussière; Je ferai leurs rues si désertes, que nul n'y passera; leurs villes ont dépéri, parce qu'il n'y a plus personne qui vive et demeure en elles.
I have cut off nations; destroyed are their battlements; I have laid in ruins their streets, so that none passeth through; their cities are wasted, without a man, without an inhabitant.
7 J'ai dit: Craignez-Moi, recueillez Mon enseignement, et vous ne serez pas exterminés de la face de la terre, partout où Je me suis vengé d'elle; tiens- toi prêt, lève-toi et fuis dès l'aurore, car tous leurs raisins sont gâtés.
I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt accept correction; so that her dwelling should not be cut off, all that I had decreed to bring over her; but they rose up early, they acted corruptly in all their doings.
8 Attends-Moi, dit le Seigneur; jusqu'au jour de Ma résurrection, où Je rendrai témoignage; car Mon jugement s'exercera dans l'assemblée des nations pour y recevoir les rois et répandre sur eux toute ma colère, parce que dans le feu de Mon zèle toute la terre périra.
Therefore wait but for me, saith the Lord, for the day that I rise up to the prey; for my judgment [cometh] to gather the nations, for me to assemble the kingdoms, to pour over them my indignation, all the fierceness of my anger; for through the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be devoured.
9 Alors Je rendrai aux peuples une langue comme à l'origine, afin que tous invoquent le Nom du Seigneur, et le servent sous un joug unique.
Yea then will I change unto the people a pure language, that they may all call on the name of the Lord, to serve him with one accord.
10 Depuis les sources des fleuves de l'Éthiopie, J'accueillerai les gentils avec ceux de Mon peuple qui sont dispersés, et ils M'offriront leurs sacrifices.
From beyond the rivers of Cush shall they bring my suppliants, even the assembly of my dispersed, as an offering unto me.
11 En ce jour, tu n'auras plus à rougir des œuvres où tu as prévariqué contre Moi; car alors Je t'aurai ôté de ton orgueil dédaigneux, et tu ne continueras plus de te glorifier sur la montagne de Mon sanctuaire.
On that day shalt thou not be ashamed because of all thy doings, whereby thou hast transgressed against me; for then will I remove out of the midst of thee those that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt never more be haughty again on my holy mount.
12 Et Je trouverai en toi un peuple rempli d'humilité et de douceur; et ils auront en vénération le Nom du Seigneur,
And I will leave remaining in the midst of thee a humble and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the Lord.
13 ceux qui resteront encore d'Israël; et ils ne feront plus d'iniquité; et ils ne parleront plus de vanités, et, dans leur bouche, la langue ne sera plus trouvée trompeuse; et Mon troupeau pourra paître et se reposer sans être effrayé de personne.
The remnant of Israel shall not do injustice, nor speak lies; and there shall not be found in their mouth a deceitful tongue; for they shall feed and lie down, with none to make them afraid.
14 Réjouis-toi, Sion, Ma fille; proclame ton allégresse, Jérusalem, Ma fille; tressaille et réjouis-toi de tout ton cœur, Jérusalem, Ma fille.
Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; rejoice and be glad with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!
15 Le Seigneur t'a remis tes iniquités; Il t'a racheté des mains de tes ennemis; le roi d'Israël, qui est le Seigneur, est au milieu de toi: tu ne verras plus de malheurs.
The Lord hath removed thy punishment, he hath cleared away thy enemy: the king of Israel, the Lord, is in the midst of thee; thou shalt not see evil any more.
16 En ce temps-là, le Seigneur dira à Jérusalem: Rassure-toi, Sion, que tes mains ne soient pas défaillantes.
On that day shall it be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: [to] Zion, Let not thy hands become weak.
17 Le Seigneur ton Dieu est avec toi; le Tout-Puissant te sauvera: Il te rendra la joie; Il te rajeunira de Son amour; en toi Il sera ravi de joie, comme en un jour de fête.
The Lord thy God is in the midst of thee, the mighty one who will save; he will be glad over thee with rejoicing; he will be silent in his love, he will exult over thee with song.
18 Et Je rassemblerai tes affligés; malheur à qui l'a outragée!
Those that mourn far away from the festive assembly do I gather, those that were separated from thee, [that have borne] for thee the burden of reproach.
19 Voilà que J'agirai en toi, pour l'amour de toi, en ce temps-là, dit le Seigneur; et je sauverai celle qui a été opprimée, et je recueillerai celle qui a été répudiée, et je glorifierai ses fils, et ils auront un nom par toute la terre.
Behold, I will deal [severely] with all that afflict thee at that time: and I will save her that halteth, and her that was driven off will I gather; and I will render them a praise and a famous name on all the earth where they have been put to shame.
20 En ce temps-là vos ennemis seront confondus lorsque J'en userai ainsi avec vous, et que Je vous aurai bien accueillis; car Je vous donnerai un nom célèbre, et vous serez glorifiés par tous les peuples de la terre, après que Je vous aurai ramené tous vos captifs, dit le Seigneur.
At that time will I bring you back, even in the time that I gather you; for I will make you for a name and for a praise among all people of the earth, when I bring back again your captives before your eyes, saith the Lord.
