Sophonie 1

1 Parole du Seigneur, qui vint à Sophonie, fils de Chusi, fils de Godolias, fils d'Amorias, fils d'Ézécias, durant les jours de Josias, fils d'Amon, roi de Juda.

The word of the LORD which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.

2 Que toute chose tombe de défaillance sur la face de la terre, dit le Seigneur.

I will utterly consume all [things] from off the land, saith the LORD.

3 Que l'homme et les bêtes disparaissent; que disparaissent les oiseaux du ciel et les poissons de la mer; et les impies seront sans force, et Je chasserai les pécheurs de la face de la terre, dit le Seigneur.

I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.

4 Et J'étendrai Ma main sur Juda et sur les habitants de Jérusalem; et J'effacerai de ce lieu les noms de Baal et de ses prêtres,

I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, [and] the name of the Chemarims with the priests;

5 et ceux qui adorent sur leurs terrasses l'armée du ciel, et se prosternent en jurant par le Seigneur, et ceux qui jurent par leur roi,

And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship [and] that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;

6 et ceux qui s'éloignent du Seigneur, et ceux qui ne cherchent pas le Seigneur, et ceux qui ne s'attachent pas au Seigneur.

And them that are turned back from the LORD; and [those] that have not sought the LORD, nor enquired for him.

7 Craignez la face du Seigneur Dieu; car le jour du Seigneur est proche, et le Seigneur a préparé Sa victoire, et Il a sanctifié Ses convives.

Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD [is] at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

8 Et il arrivera que, le jour du sacrifice du Seigneur, Je tirerai vengeance des princes et de la maison du roi, et de tous ceux qui ont porté des vêtements étrangers.

And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

9 Et ce jour-là Je tirerai dans les parvis une vengeance éclatante de ceux qui remplissent d'impiété et de fraude le temple du Seigneur leur Dieu.

In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.

10 Et ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur, il y aura des cris à la porte des Assaillants, des hurlements à la seconde porte, et de grands brisements de cœur sur les collines.

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, [that there shall be] the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.

11 Pleurez, vous qui habitez cette ville abattue; car tout le peuple est devenu comme Chanaan, et tous ceux qui se glorifiaient de leur argent ont été exterminés.

Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.

12 Et en ce jour-là, Je chercherai Jérusalem la lampe à la main, et Je tirerai vengeance des hommes qui méprisent Mes commandements, et qui disent en leur cœur: Le Seigneur ne fera pas de bien, Il ne fera pas de mal.

And it shall come to pass at that time, [that] I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

13 Leur richesse sera mise au pillage, et leurs maisons en ruines. Ils se bâtiront des demeures, et ils ne les habiteront pas; ils planteront des vignes, et ils n'en boiront pas le vin.

Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit [them; ] and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.

14 Car le grand jour du Seigneur est proche; il est proche, il accourt. Le bruit du jour du Seigneur est lamentable et terrible.

The great day of the LORD [is] near, [it is] near, and hasteth greatly, [even] the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

15 Le jour de Sa colère est un grand jour; ce jour-là est un jour d'affliction et de calamité; c'est un jour d'angoisse et d'extermination, un jour d'ombre et de ténèbres, un jour de nuages et de vapeurs.

That day [is] a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

16 En ce jour-là, sur les villes fortes et sur les cimes élevées, les cris et les trompettes retentissent.

A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

17 Et J'écraserai tous les hommes, et ils marcheront comme des aveugles; car ils ont péché contre le Seigneur; et Il répandra leur sang comme la poussière, et leurs chairs comme le fumier.

And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

18 Et au jour de la colère du Seigneur, ni leur argent ni leur or ne pourront les sauver; et, dans le feu de Son zèle, toute la terre périra, car Il aura hâte d'exterminer jusqu'au dernier de tous ceux qui l'habitent.

Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
