Psaumes 91
1 Chant de louange de David. Celui qui demeure en la protection du Très-Haut habitera en un séjour abrité par le Dieu du ciel.
O thou that dwellest in the covert of the Most High, and abidest in the shadow of the Almighty;
2 Il dira au Seigneur: tu es mon champion et mon refuge, ô mon Dieu. J'espèrerai en lui;
I will say of the LORD, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust,
3 Car il te délivrera des filets des chasseurs et des paroles amères.
That He will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 Il te couvrira de l'ombre de ses ailes, et sous ses ailes tu auras l'espérance.
He will cover thee with His pinions, and under His wings shalt thou take refuge; His truth is a shield and a buckler.
5 Sa vérité t'environnera comme une armure; tu n'auras rien à craindre des épouvantements de la nuit,
Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Ni des traits qui volent en plein jour, ni des choses qui cheminent dans les ténèbres, ni des accidents, ni du démon du midi.
Of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor of the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 Mille tomberont à ta gauche, et dix mille à ta droite; mais ils n'approcheront point de toi.
A thousand may fall at Thy side, and ten thousand at Thy right hand; it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Cependant, tu considéreras de tes yeux, et tu verras la punition infligée aux pécheurs.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the recompense of the wicked.
9 Car tu as dit: Seigneur, tu es mon espérance; et tu as fait du Très-Haut ton refuge.
For thou hast made the LORD who is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation.
10 Les maux n'arriveront point jusqu'à toi, et les flagellations n'approcheront point de ta tente.
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.
11 Car il a donné des ordres à ses anges, pour qu'ils te gardent en toutes tes voies.
For He will give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 Ils te soulèveront de leurs mains, de peur que tes pieds ne heurtent contre une pierre.
They shall bear thee upon their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Tu marcheras sur l'aspic et sur le basilic, et tu fouleras aux pieds le lion et le dragon.
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and asp; the young lion and the serpent shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Car le Seigneur a dit: Il a espéré en moi, et je le délivrerai; je l'abriterai, parce qu'il a connu mon nom.
'Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known My name.
15 Il m'invoquera, et moi je l'exaucerai; je serai avec lui en ses tribulations; et je le délivrerai, et je le glorifierai.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him, and bring him to honour.
16 Je le remplirai de longs jours, et je lui montrerai mon salut.
With long life will I satisfy him, and make Him to behold My salvation.'
