Psaumes 59
1 Jusqu'à la Fin, avec cette inscription de David: Ne détruis pas; quand Saül envoya et fit garder sa maison pour le mettre à mort. O Dieu, délivre-moi de mes ennemis; délivre-moi de ceux qui s'élèvent contre moi.
To the chief Musician. 'Destroy not.' Of David. Michtam; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God; secure me on high from them that rise up against me.
2 Délivre-moi des ouvriers d'iniquité, et sauve-moi des hommes de sang.
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from men of blood.
3 Car voilà qu'ils ont fait la chasse à mon âme; des hommes puissants se sont jetés sur moi.
For behold, they lie in wait for my soul; strong ones are gathered against me: not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Jehovah.
4 Ce n'est ni mon iniquité ni mon péché, Seigneur, qui en sont la cause: exempt d'iniquité, j'ai couru droit devant moi.
They run and prepare themselves without [my] fault: awake to meet me, and behold.
5 Réveille-toi, viens à mon aide, et vois, Seigneur, Dieu des vertus. Dieu d'Israël; sois attentif à visiter les nations; n'aie aucune pitié pour ceux qui commettent l'iniquité.
Yea, do thou, Jehovah, the God of hosts, the God of Israel, arise to visit all the nations: be not gracious to any plotters of iniquity. (Selah)
6 Ils viendront sur le soir, et ils seront affamés comme des chiens, et ils courront autour de la ville.
They return in the evening; they howl like a dog, and go round about the city:
7 Voilà qu'ils vociféreront, et ils auront une épée sur les lèvres: Qui nous entend? s'écrieront-ils.
Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips: for who [say they] doth hear?
8 Et toi, Seigneur, tu riras d'eux; tu réduiras toutes les nations à néant.
But thou, Jehovah, wilt laugh at them; thou wilt have all the nations in derision.
9 Je garderai ma force en toi; car ô mon Dieu, tu es mon défenseur.
Their strength! ...I will take heed to thee; for God is my high fortress.
10 Quant à mon Dieu, sa miséricorde me préviendra.
God, whose loving-kindness will come to meet me, — God shall let me see [my desire] upon mine enemies.
11 Dieu me montrera sa vengeance sur mes ennemis. Ne les fais pas mourir, de peur que ton peuple n'en perde la mémoire. Disperse-les en ta puissance, et renverse-les. Dieu mon protecteur.
Slay them not, lest my people forget; by thy power make them wander, and bring them down, O Lord, our shield.
12 Châtie le péché de leur bouche, les paroles de leurs lèvres; qu'ils soient punis dans leur orgueil; et l'on s'entretiendra de leurs malédictions, de leurs mensonges.
[Because of] the sin of their mouth, the word of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; and because of cursing and lying which they speak.
13 Détruis-les, détruis-les en ta colère; et ils ne subsisteront plus; et l'on saura que le Dieu de Jacob règne jusqu'aux confins de la terre.
Make an end in wrath, make an end, that they may be no more; that they may know that God ruleth in Jacob, unto the ends of the earth. (Selah)
14 Ils reviendront sur le soir; ils seront affamés comme des chiens, et ils courront autour de la ville.
And in the evening they shall return, they shall howl like a dog, and go round about the city.
15 Ils se disperseront pour manger; et s'ils ne sont point rassasiés, ils murmureront.
They shall wander about for meat, and stay all night if they be not satisfied.
16 Pour moi, je chanterai ta puissance, et, dès l'aurore, je me réjouirai de ta miséricorde; car tu es mon défenseur et mon refuge au jour de mon affliction.
But as for me, I will sing of thy strength; yea, I will sing aloud of thy loving-kindness in the morning; for thou hast been to me a high fortress, and a refuge in the day of my trouble.
17 Je te chanterai mes psaumes, ô mon Sauveur, ô mon Dieu; tu es mon défenseur, mon Dieu et ma miséricorde.
Unto thee, my strength, will I sing psalms; for God is my high fortress, the God of my mercy.
