Psaumes 49
1 Jusqu'à la Fin. Psaume des fils de Koré. Nations, écoutez toutes ces choses; prêtez une oreille attentive, ô vous tous qui peuplez la terre,
To the Chief Musician. For the Sons of Korah. A Melody. Hear ye, this all ye peoples, Give ear, all ye inhabitants of this passing world;
2 Fils de la terre, fils des hommes, riches ou pauvres, réunis au même lieu!
Both sons of the low, And sons of the high, —Together both rich and needy: —
3 Ma bouche te dira la sagesse, et la méditation de mon cœur, l'intelligence.
My mouth, shall speak forth Wisdom, And the soft utterance of my heart be Understanding:
4 J'inclinerai mon oreille vers la parabole; j'expliquerai ce que j'avance au son de la harpe.
I will bend, to a by-word, mine ear, I will open, on the lyre, mine enigma.
5 Pourquoi craindrais-je dans les mauvais jours? C'est que l'iniquité de mes démarches m'assiégera.
Wherefore should I fear in the days of calamity, Though the iniquity of them who lie in wait for me should enclose me?
6 Ceux qui se fient en leur force et se glorifient de l'abondance de leurs richesses, qu'ils écoutent:
As for them who are trusting in their wealth, —And, in the abundance of their riches, do boast themselves,
7 Si le frère ne rachète pas son frère, un autre homme le rachètera-t-il? Non, et il ne donnera pas à Dieu la rançon de lui-même,
A brother, can none of them, redeem, he cannot give unto God a ransom for himself:
8 Ni le prix de la rédemption de son âme. Travaillera-t-il éternellement,
So costly, is the redemption of their soul, That it faileth unto times age-abiding;
9 Et vivra-t-il sans fin?
That he should, yet, live on, continually, Should not see corruption.
10 Ne verra-t-il pas la mort, lorsqu'il aura vu mourir les sages comme le stupide et l'insensé mourront? Et ils laisseront leurs richesses à des étrangers,
For it is seen that, the wise, die, Together with the dullard, and the brutish, do they perish, And leave, to others, their wealth:
11 Et le sépulcre sera pour toujours leur demeure; dans les générations des générations ils n'auront point d'autre abri, et ils auront donné leurs noms à leurs terres!
Their, inward thought, is that their houses are for times age-abiding, Their habitations, for generation after generation, —They give their own names unto lands!
12 Et l'homme élevé en honneur ne l'a pas compris; il est devenu comme les bêtes sans raison, et il s'est rendu semblable à elles.
But, a son of earth, though wealthy, cannot tarry, He hath made himself a by-word—Beasts, they resemble:
13 Pour ceux-là, leur propre voie est un piège; et après cela des gens vanteront ce qu'a dit leur bouche!
This, their way, is a folly to them, And yet, their followers, with their mouth, approve. (Selah)
14 Ils sont parqués en enfer comme des brebis; la mort s'en repaîtra, et au matin les justes auront pouvoir sur eux; et l'appui qu'ils se faisaient de leur gloire vieillira en enfer. (Sheol h7585)
Like sheep—into hades, are they driven, Death shall shepherd them, —And the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning, Even their form, is to decay, Hades, is all that remaineth of a habitation for him. (Sheol h7585)
But, God, will redeem my soul, out of the hand of hades, For he will take me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
16 Ne crains point quand un homme se sera enrichi, et que la gloire de sa maison se sera multipliée.
Do not fear, When a man becometh rich, When the glory of his house increaseth;
17 Car, lorsqu'il mourra, il n'emportera rien, et sa gloire ne descendra pas avec lui.
For, when he dieth, he shall take, nothing, his glory shall not descend after him;
18 Son âme aura été bénie en sa vie; et il t'aura rendu grâces, lorsque tu lui auras fait du bien.
For, though, his own self—while he lived, he used to bless, And they will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself,
19 Il s'en ira où sont les générations de ses pères; et la lumière, il ne la reverra jamais.
He shall enter as far as the circle of his fathers, Nevermore, shall they see the light.
20 L'homme élevé en honneurs ne l'a pas compris; il est devenu comme les bêtes sans raison, et il s'est rendu semblable à elles.
A son of earth though wealthy, who discerneth not, Hath made himself a by-word, Beasts, they resemble.
