Psaumes 38
1 Psaume de David, pour se souvenir du Sabbat. Seigneur, ne me réprimande pas dans ta fureur; ne me châtie pas dans ta colère.
Yahweh, when you are angry [with me], do not rebuke/scold me and punish me!
2 Car tes flèches m'ont transpercé, et tu as appesanti sur moi ta main.
[Now it is as though] you have shot your arrows at me and wounded me; you have struck me and knocked me down.
3 En ma chair il n'est plus rien de sain en face de ta colère; il n'est point de paix pour mes os en face de mes péchés.
Because you have been angry with me, I am suffering great pain. Because of my sin, my whole body is diseased.
4 Car mes iniquités se sont accumulées plus haut que ma tête; elles me pèsent comme un lourd fardeau.
All my sins are [like a flood] that covers my head; they are like a load that is very heavy, with the result that I cannot carry it.
5 Mes meurtrissures sont infectes et gangrenées à cause de ma folie.
Because I have done foolish things, I have sores that have become worse, and they stink.
6 Je suis devenu misérable, entièrement courbé; j'ai marché tout le jour, plein de tristesse.
[Sometimes] I am bent over, and [sometimes] I lie prostrate; I am sad/cry all day.
7 Mes flancs ont été remplis de moqueries, et il n'est rien de sain dans ma chair.
My body is burning with fever, and I am very ill.
8 J'ai été affligé et j'ai été humilié à l'excès; je rugissais à cause des gémissements de mon cœur.
I am completely exhausted, and I have no strength. I am very distressed, and I groan with pain.
9 Tout mon désir est devant toi; mon gémissement ne t'est point caché.
Yahweh, you know that I desire [to be healed]; you hear me while I am groaning.
10 Mon cœur est troublé, ma force a défailli, et la lumière de mes yeux n'est point avec moi.
My heat is pounding heavily, and all my strength is gone. I am no longer able to see well.
11 Mes amis et mes proches se sont avancés et arrêtés contre moi, et ceux qui m'approchaient de plus près se sont tenus au loin;
My friends and neighbors stay away from me because of my sores; even my own family stays away from me.
12 Tandis que j'étais pressé avec violence par ceux qui cherchaient à m'ôter la vie, et que ceux qui pensaient à mal contre moi disaient des paroles menteuses, et tout le long du jour inventaient des tromperies.
And those who want to kill me set traps to catch me; those who want to harm me discuss ways to get rid of me; they plot against me all day.
13 Mais moi je ne les entendais non plus qu'un sourd, et comme un muet je n'ouvrais pas la bouche.
Now I act like I’m deaf, and do not listen [to what they say]. I act like I cannot talk, so I say nothing [to reply to them].
14 J'étais devenu semblable à un homme qui n'entend rien, et n'a rien à répliquer en sa bouche.
I act like a man who does not answer [when people talk to him], because he cannot hear anything.
15 Car, ô Seigneur, j'espérais en toi, et tu m'exauceras, Seigneur mon Dieu!
But Yahweh, I trust in you. My Lord God, you will answer me.
16 Et j'ai dit: Que je ne sois point pour mes ennemis un sujet de joie, ceux qui parlaient orgueilleusement contre moi quand mes pieds étaient chancelants.
I said to you, “Do not cause [me to die, with the result that] my enemies will rejoice! Do not cause me to stumble, with the result that they will be very happy!”
17 Car je suis prêt à être flagellé, et ma douleur m'est toujours présente.
I say that because I am about to fall down, and I constantly have pain.
18 Et je déclarerai mon iniquité; et je serai dans la douleur au sujet de mon péché.
I confess the wrong things that I have done; I am [very] sorry for the sins that I have committed.
19 Cependant mes ennemis sont vivants, et ils se sont fortifiés contre moi, et le nombre de ceux qui me haïssent injustement s'est multiplié.
My enemies are healthy and strong; there are many people who hate me for no reason.
20 Ceux qui rendent le mal pour le bien m'ont calomnié, parce que je recherchais la justice.
Those who do evil things to me in return for my doing good things to them oppose me because I try to do what is right.
21 Ne m'abandonne pas, Seigneur mon Dieu, ne te détourne point de moi.
Yahweh, do not abandon me! My God, do not stay far from me!
22 Approche-toi pour me secourir, ô Dieu de mon salut!
Lord, you are the one who saves/rescues me; Quickly [come and] help me!
