Psaumes 33
1 De David. Justes, mettez votre joie dans le Seigneur; la louange convient aux cœurs droits.
Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: [for] praise is comely for the upright.
2 Chantez sur la cithare les louanges du Seigneur; chantez pour lui sur la harpe à dix cordes.
Praise the LORD with harp: sing to him with the psaltery [and] an instrument of ten strings.
3 Chantez pour lui un cantique nouveau; chantez en accord et à haute voix.
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
4 Car la parole du Seigneur est sûre; il est fidèle en toutes ses œuvres.
For the word of the LORD [is] right; and all his works [are done] in truth.
5 Il aime la miséricorde et la justice; la terre est pleine de la miséricorde du Seigneur.
He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
6 Les cieux se sont affermis à la parole du Seigneur, et toute leur vertu au souffle de sa bouche.
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
7 Il a rassemblé comme dans une outre les eaux de la mer; il a déposé les abîmes dans ses trésors.
He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap: he layeth up the depth in store-houses.
8 Que toute la terre craigne le Seigneur; que ceux qui habitent le monde tremblent devant lui.
Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
9 Car il a dit, et ils ont été; il a commandé, et ils ont été créés.
For he spoke, and it was [done]; he commanded, and it stood fast.
10 Le Seigneur dissipe les conseils des nations; il réprouve les pensées des peuples; il réprouve les desseins des princes.
The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught: he maketh the devices of the people of no effect.
11 Mais le conseil du Seigneur dure éternellement; les pensées de son cœur vivent de génération en génération.
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
12 Heureuse la nation dont le Seigneur est le Dieu; heureux le peuple qu'il s'est choisi pour héritage.
Blessed [is] the nation whose God [is] the LORD; [and] the people [whom] he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
13 Le Seigneur a regardé du ciel, il a vu tous les fils des hommes.
The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
14 De la demeure qu'il s'est préparée, il regarde tous ceux qui habitent la terre.
From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
15 C'est lui qui a formé le cœur de chacun d'eux; il connaît toutes leurs œuvres.
He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
16 Un roi n'est pas sauvé par une armée nombreuse; un géant ne sera pas délivré par sa grande force.
There is no king saved by the multitude of a host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
17 Le cheval trompe celui qui en attend le salut, et la multitude de ses forces ne le sauvera point.
A horse [is] a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver [any] by his great strength.
18 Voilà que les yeux du Seigneur sont sur ceux qui le craignent et qui espèrent en sa miséricorde;
Behold, the eye of the LORD [is] upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
19 Pour qu'il sauve leurs âmes de la mort, qu'il les nourrisse au temps de la famine.
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Notre âme attend le Seigneur; car il est notre protecteur et notre champion;
Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he [is] our help and our shield.
21 Car en lui notre cœur mettra sa joie, et nous avons espéré en son saint nom.
For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22 Seigneur, répands sur nous ta miséricorde, autant que nous l'avons espéré de toi.
Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
