Psaumes 139
1 Jusqu'à la Fin. Psaume de David. Seigneur, tu m'as éprouvé, et tu m'as connu;
To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known [me].
2 Tu connais mon repos et mon réveil;
Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off;
3 Tu as compris de loin toutes mes pensées; tu as recherché mon sentier et le fil de ma vie.
Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways;
4 Et tu as prévu toutes mes voies, et reconnu que sur ma langue il n'est point de paroles iniques.
For there is not yet a word on my tongue, [but] lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Voilà, ô Seigneur, que tu sais toutes les choses de la fin et du commencement; tu m'as formé et tu as posé sur moi ta main.
Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thy hand upon me.
6 Ta science sur moi est admirable et pleine de force, et je ne puis en approcher,
O knowledge too wonderful for me! it is high, I cannot [attain] unto it.
7 Où aller pour fuir ton esprit? ou me réfugier pour échapper à ta face?
Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? and whither flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into the heavens thou art there; or if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou [art there]; (Sheol h7585)
9 Si, dès l'aurore, je déploie mes ailes et que je m'abrite aux extrémités de la mer,
[If] I take the wings of the dawn [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Là encore ta main me conduit, et ta droite me retient.
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 Et j'ai dit: Peut-être les ténèbres me cacheront-elles; et la nuit a été lumière sur mes voluptés.
And if I say, Surely darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night;
12 Car pour toi, les ténèbres ne sont point ténèbres, et la nuit brille autant que le jour. Les ténèbres sont pour toi comme la lumière du jour.
Even darkness hideth not from thee, and the night shineth as the day: the darkness is as the light.
13 Seigneur, tu es maître de mes reins; tu m'as pris dès le sein de ma mère.
For thou hast possessed my reins; thou didst cover me in my mother's womb.
14 Je te rendrai gloire, parce que tes prodiges ont un éclat terrible; tes œuvres sont merveilleuses, et mon âme le sait bien.
I will praise thee, for I am fearfully, wonderfully made. Marvellous are thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.
15 Mes os ne te sont point cachés, puisque tu les as cachés toi-même; ni ma substance, quoique perdue au fond de la terre.
My bones were not hidden from thee when I was made in secret, curiously wrought in the lower parts of the earth.
16 Tes yeux m'ont vu quand j'étais encore informe, et les hommes sont tous inscrits sur ton livre; ils se forment jour par jour, et nul n'y échappe.
Thine eyes did see my unformed substance, and in thy book all [my members] were written; [during many] days were they fashioned, when [as yet] there was none of them.
17 J'ai beaucoup honoré tes amis, ô mon Dieu, et leur empire s'est grandement affermi.
But how precious are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 J'en ferai le dénombrement, et ils seront plus nombreux que les sables. Je m'éveille, et je suis encore avec toi.
[If] I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with thee.
19 O Dieu, si tu tues les pécheurs… Détournez-vous de moi, hommes de sang.
Oh that thou wouldest slay the wicked, O God! And ye men of blood, depart from me.
20 Car, Seigneur, tu dis sur leurs pensées: Ils prendront vainement tes cités.
For they speak of thee wickedly, they take [thy name] in vain, thine enemies.
21 Seigneur, n'ai-je point haï ceux qui te haïssent, et ne me suis-je pas consumé en voyant tes ennemis?
Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? and do not I loathe them that rise up against thee?
22 Je les ai haïs d'une haine parfaite; ils sont devenus mes ennemis.
I hate them with perfect hatred; I account them mine enemies.
23 Éprouve-moi, mon Dieu, et connais mon cœur; sonde-moi, et connais mes sentiers.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; prove me, and know my thoughts;
24 Et vois s'il est en moi quelque voie d'iniquité, et conduis-moi dans la voie éternelle.
And see if there be any grievous way in me; and lead me in the way everlasting.
