Psaumes 110

1 Psaume de David. Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur: Assieds-toi à ma droite, jusqu'à ce que j'aie fait de tes ennemis l'escabeau de tes pieds.

Yahweh said to my lord [the king], “Sit [here], close to me, in the place of highest honor [MTY] until I [completely defeat] your enemies [MET] [and] make [them like] a stool for your feet!”

2 Le Seigneur t'enverra de Sion le sceptre de ta puissance; règne au milieu de tes ennemis.

Yahweh [also said to him], “I will extend your power as king from Jerusalem [to other lands]; you will rule over all your enemies.

3 Le principe est avec toi au jour de ta puissance, parmi les splendeurs de tes saints. Je t'ai engendré de mes entrailles, avant l'étoile du matin.

On the day that you lead your armies into battle, many of your people will volunteer [to join your army]. Like the dew refreshes the earth early in the morning, young men will [encourage you by] coming to help you.”

4 Le Seigneur l'a juré, et il ne s'en repentira pas: tu es le prêtre éternel, selon l'ordre de Melchisédech.

Yahweh has made a solemn promise, and he will never change his mind; he has said to the king, “You will be a priest forever [serving Yahweh] like Melchizedek did.”

5 Le Seigneur est à ta droite; il a écrasé les rois le jour de sa colère.

Yahweh stands [in the place of highest honor] your right side; when he becomes angry, he will defeat [many kings].

6 Il jugera au milieu des nations; il les remplira de ruines; il brisera sur la terre la tête d'une grande multitude.

He will judge and punish the people of [many] nations; he will fill the land with their corpses. He will crush the heads of other kings all over the earth.

7 Il boira sur son chemin l'eau du torrent, et, à cause de cela, il relèvera sa tête.

But my lord the king will drink from streams near the road; he will be refreshed after defeating his enemies.
