Psaumes 109
1 Jusqu'à la Fin, psaume de David. Dieu, ne passe point ma louange sous silence;
Unto the end, a psalm for David.
2 car la bouche des pécheurs, la bouche des fourbes est ouverte contre moi.
O God, be not thou silent in thy praise: for the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful man is opened against me.
3 Ils ont parlé de moi avec une langue perfide; ils m'ont enveloppé de paroles de haine, et ils m'ont attaqué sans sujet.
They have spoken against with deceitful tongues; and they have compassed me about with words of hatred; and have fought against me without cause.
4 Au lieu de m'aimer, ils me calomnient; et moi je priais;
Instead of making me a return of love, they detracted me: but I gave myself to prayer.
5 Et ils m'ont rendu le mal pour le bien, la haine pour l'amitié.
And they repaid me evil for good: and hatred for my love.
6 Établis sur mon ennemi un pécheur, et que le démon se tienne à sa droite.
Set thou the sinner over him: and may the devil stand at his right hand.
7 Lorsqu'on le jugera, qu'il s'en aille condamné, et que sa prière soit imputée à péché.
When he is judged, may he go out condemned; and may his prayer be turned to sin.
8 Que ses jours soient abrégés, et qu'un autre reçoive sa dignité.
May his days be few: and his bishopric let another take.
9 Que ses fils deviennent orphelins, et sa femme veuve.
May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
10 Que ses enfants errent sans asile, qu'ils mendient, qu'ils soient chassés de leurs habitations.
Let his children be carried about vagabonds, and beg; and let them be cast out of their dwellings.
11 Qu'un usurier extorque tout son bien, et que des étrangers bâtissent sur ses travaux.
May the userer search all his substance: and let strangers plunder his labours.
12 Qu'il ne lui reste personne pour protecteur, personne qui ait pitié de ses orphelins.
May there be none to help him: nor none to pity his fatherless offspring.
13 Que ses enfants aillent à leur perte, et qu'en une seule génération son nom soit effacé.
May his posterity be cut off; in one generation may his name be blotted out.
14 Que le souvenir de l'iniquité de ses pères revive devant le Seigneur; et que le péché de sa mère ne soit point effacé.
May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered in the sight of the Lord: and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15 Qu'ils soient toujours devant le Seigneur, et que leur mémoire périsse sur la terre,
May they be before the lord continually, and let the memory of them perish from the earth:
16 En punition de ce qu'il n'a point songé à faire miséricorde,
Because he remembered not to show mercy,
17 Et qu'il a poursuivi, pour le mettre à mort, un homme pauvre, mendiant, et plein de componction.
But persecuted the poor man and the beggar; and the broken in heart, to put him to death.
18 Il a aimé la malédiction, et elle viendra sur lui; il n'a point désiré la bénédiction, et elle s'éloignera de lui. Il s'est revêtu de la malédiction comme d'une tunique, et elle a pénétré comme l'eau dans ses entrailles, comme l'huile dans ses os.
And he loved cursing, and it shall come unto him: and he would not have blessing, and it shall be far from him. And he put on cursing, like a garment: and it went in like water into his entrails, and like oil in his bones.
19 Qu'elle soit pour lui comme le manteau dont il s'enveloppe, et comme la ceinture dont il est ceint toujours.
May it be unto him like a garment which covereth him; and like a girdle with which he is girded continually.
20 Telle sera la peine de ceux qui me calomnient devant Dieu, et qui disent des méchancetés contre mon âme.
This is the work of them who detract me before the Lord; and who speak evils against my soul.
21 Et toi, Seigneur, Seigneur, agis envers moi pour l'amour de ton nom; car ta miséricorde est douce. Protège-moi,
But thou, O Lord, do with for thy names sake: because thy mercy is sweet. Do thou deliver me.
22 Parce que je suis pauvre et nécessiteux, et que mon cœur est troublé au dedans de moi.
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is troubled within me.
23 Je m'en vais comme l'ombre quand elle décline, et j'ai été ballotté comme une nuée de sauterelles.
I am taken away like the shadow when it declineth: and I am shaken off as locusts.
24 Mes genoux ont été énervés par le jeûne, et ma chair s'est altérée, faute d'huile.
My knees are weakened through fasting: and my flesh is changed for oil.
25 Et moi, je suis devenu un opprobre pour mes ennemis; ils m'ont vu, et ont secoué la tête.
And I am become a reproach to them: they saw me and they shaked their heads,
26 Secours-moi, Seigneur mon Dieu, et sauve-moi selon ta miséricorde.
Help me, O Lord my God; save me according to thy mercy.
27 Et qu'ils sachent que c'est ta main, que c'est toi, Seigneur, qui as agi.
And let them know that this is thy hand: and that thou, O Lord, hast done it.
28 Ils maudiront, et tu béniras; que ceux qui m'attaqueront soient confondus, et ton serviteur sera réjoui.
They will curse and thou will bless: let them that rise up against me be confounded: but thy servant shall rejoice.
29 Que nos calomniateurs soient couverts de honte, et enveloppés de honte comme d'un double manteau.
Let them that detract me be clothed with shame: and let them be covered with the their confusion as with a double cloak.
30 Je rendrai gloire au Seigneur de toute la force de ma bouche, et je le louerai au milieu de la multitude,
I will give great thanks to the Lord with my mouth: and in the midst of many I will praise him.
31 Parce qu'il s'est placé à la droite du pauvre, pour me sauver de ceux qui persécutaient mon âme.
Because he hath stood at the right hand of the poor, to save my soul from persecutors.
