Psaumes 1

1 Heureux l'homme qui n'est point allé au conseil des impies qui ne s'est pas arrêté dans la voie des pécheurs et ne s'est point assis dans la chaire de pestilence,

BOOK FIRST: Happy is the man who walketh not in the council of the wicked, and standeth not in the way of sinners, and sitteth not in the seat of scorners;

2 Mais dont la volonté est conforme à la loi du Seigneur, et qui, nuit et jour, méditera sur cette loi.

But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who doth meditate in his law by day and night.

3 Il sera comme l'arbre planté au bord des eaux, et qui donnera son fruit en sa saison; ses feuilles ne tomberont jamais, et en toutes ses œuvres il prospérera.

And he shall be like a tree planted by rivulets of water, that yieldeth its fruit in its season, and the leaf of which doth not wither; and all that he may do shall prosper.

4 Ils ne sont pas ainsi les impies, ils ne sont pas ainsi; mais ils sont comme la paille que le vent balaie sur la face de la terre.

Not so the wicked; but they are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 C'est pourquoi les impies ne ressusciteront pas dans le jugement, ni les pécheurs dans l'assemblée des justes.

Therefore shall the wicked not be able to stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 Car le Seigneur connaît la voie des justes; et la voie des pécheurs périra.

For the Lord regardeth the way of the righteous; but the way of the wicked leadeth to perdition.
