Proverbes 5
1 Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse, et prête l'oreille à mes discours;
My son, to my wisdom, attend, and, to mine understanding, incline thou thine ear:
2 afin de conserver ta pensée pure. C'est la sagesse de mes lèvres qui te fait cette recommandation: Ne t'attache point à la femme trompeuse.
That thou mayest preserve discretion, —and, as for knowledge, that thy lips may guard it.
3 Car le miel découle des lèvres de la femme débauchée, qui, pour un temps charmera ton palais.
For, with sweet droppings, drip the lips of her that is a stranger, and, smoother than oil, is her mouth;
4 Mais après tu la trouveras plus amère que le fiel, et plus aiguë qu'un glaive à double tranchant.
But, the latter end of her, is bitter as wormwood, sharp, as a two-edged sword!
5 Car les pieds de la folie conduisent ceux qui l'aiment à l'enfer, en compagnie de la mort, et ses pas ne laissent point de traces. (Sheol h7585)
Her feet, are going down to death, —on hades, will her steps take firm hold. (Sheol h7585)
6 Elle ne chemine point dans les voies de vie; mais ses sentiers sont glissants et difficiles à suivre.
Lest, the path of life, she should ponder, her tracks have wandered she knoweth not [whither].
7 Maintenant donc, ô mon fils, écoute-moi, et ne rends point vaines mes paroles.
Now, therefore, ye sons, hearken unto me, and do not turn away from the sayings of my mouth.
8 Fais que ta voie soit loin d'elle; ne t'approche pas des portes de sa demeure.
Keep far from her thy way, and do not go near the opening of her house:
9 De peur qu'elle ne livre ta vie à des étrangers, et tes biens à des gens sans pitié;
Lest thou give, to other men, thy vigour, and thy years, to him that is cruel:
10 de peur que des étrangers ne se rassasient de tes richesses, et que le fruit de tes labeurs ne s'en aille dans la maison d'autrui;
Lest strange men, be well fed, by thy strength, and, thy toils, be in the house of the alien.
11 et tu te repentirais à ton dernier jour, quand les chairs de ton corps seraient consumées, et tu dirais
So shalt thou grieve in thy latter end, in the failing of thy flesh and of thy healthy condition;
12 Pourquoi ai-je haï la discipline, et pourquoi mon cœur a-t-il éludé les réprimandes?
And thou shalt say—How I hated correction! and, reproof, my heart disdained;
13 Je n'ai point écouté la voix de celui qui me corrigeait et m'enseignait, et je ne lui ai point prêté l'oreille.
Neither hearkened I to the voice of my teachers, nor, to my instructors, inclined I mine ear:
14 J'ai failli être en butte à tous les maux, au milieu de l'église et de la synagogue.
Soon was I in all evil, in the midst of convocation and assembly.
15 Bois des eaux de tes vases et des sources de ton puits.
Drink thou water out of thine own cistern, and flowing streams out of the midst of thine own well.
16 Prends garde que chez toi les eaux ne débordent de ta fontaine, et que tes eaux ne s'écoulent dans les places publiques.
Let not thy fountains, flow over, abroad, in the streets, dividings of waters:
17 Possède-les seul, et que nul étranger n'y ait part.
Let them be for thyself, alone, and not for strangers with thee.
18 Que l'eau de ta fontaine soit vraiment à toi, et réjouis-toi en la femme de ta jeunesse.
Let thy well-spring be blessed, —and get thy joy from the wife of thy youth: —
19 Qu'elles soit pour toi comme la biche bien-aimée, comme le faon de tes grâces; qu'elle soit considérée comme ton bien propre, qu'elle t'assiste en toute circonstance; car, ravi de son amour, tu vivras longtemps.
A loving hind! a graceful doe! let, her bosom, content thee at all times, and, in her love, mayst thou stray evermore.
20 Garde-toi de l'intimité avec une étrangère; ne te laisse pas enlacer dans les bras d'une femme qui n'est point la tienne.
Wherefore, then, shouldst thou stray, my son, with a strange woman? or embrace the bosom of a woman unknown?
21 Car les voies de l'homme sont devant les yeux du Seigneur, et Il observe tous ses entiers.
For, before the eyes of Yahweh, are the ways of a man, —and, all his tracks, doth he consider:
22 Les iniquités pourchassent l'homme, et chacun est étreint par les chaînes de son péché.
His own iniquities, shall entrap him with the lawless, and, by the cords of his own sin, shall he be seized.
23 Un tel homme meurt comme ceux qui n'ont point de discipline, et il a été renversé dans la plénitude de ses jours; et sa folie l'a perdu.
He, shall die, for lack of discipline, and, by the abounding of his perversity, shall he be lost.
