Proverbes 4
1 Écoutez, enfants, l'enseignement d'un père, et soyez attentifs à connaître la sagesse.
Heare, O ye children, the instruction of a father, and giue eare to learne vnderstanding.
2 Car je vous fais un cadeau précieux; ne délaissez point ma loi.
For I doe giue you a good doctrine: therefore forsake yee not my lawe.
3 J'ai été un fils docile à mon père, et cher aux yeux de ma mère.
For I was my fathers sonne, tender and deare in the sight of my mother,
4 Ils m'ont instruit, disant: Que nos discours soient fixés dans ton cœur; garde nos préceptes; ne les oublie pas.
When he taught me, and sayde vnto me, Let thine heart holde fast my woordes: keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue.
5 Ne méprise pas les paroles de ma bouche.
Get wisedom: get vnderstading: forget not, neither decline from the woordes of my mouth.
6 Ne les abandonne point, et elles s'attacheront à toi; aime-les, et elles te garderont.
Forsake her not, and shee shall keepe thee: loue her and shee shall preserue thee.
Wisedome is the beginning: get wisedome therefore: and aboue all thy possession get vnderstanding.
8 Entoure-les de palissades, et elles t'exalteront; honore-les, afin qu'elles t'embrassent;
Exalt her, and she shall exalt thee: she shall bring thee to honour, if thou embrace her.
9 afin qu'elles mettent sur ta tête une couronne de grâces, et te couvrent d'une couronne de délices.
She shall giue a comely ornamet vnto thine head, yea, she shall giue thee a crowne of glorie.
10 Écoute, mon fils, et recueille mes paroles, et les années de ta vie se multiplieront, autant que se multiplieront les voies de ta vie.
Heare, my sonne, and receiue my wordes, and the yeeres of thy life shalbe many.
11 Car je t'enseignerai les voies de la sagesse, et je te ferai cheminer dans les droits sentiers.
I haue taught thee in ye way of wisedom, and led thee in the pathes of righteousnesse.
12 Si tu marches, rien n'entravera tes pas; si tu cours, tu ne sentiras point la fatigue.
Whe thou goest, thy gate shall not be strait, and when thou runnest, thou shalt not fall.
13 Retiens mes instructions, ne les néglige point; mais garde-les en toi- même toute ta vie.
Take holde of instruction, and leaue not: keepe her, for shee is thy life.
14 Ne va pas sur la voie des impies; ne porte point envie aux voies des pervers.
Enter not into the way of the wicked, and walke not in the way of euill men.
15 N'approche pas du lieu où ils dresseront leur camp; éloigne-toi d'eux; hâte-toi de passer outre.
Auoide it, and goe not by it: turne from it, and passe by.
16 Car ils ne s'endormiront pas qu'ils n'aient fait quelque mal; le sommeil leur est enlevé, et ils ne reposent pas.
For they can not sleepe, except they haue done euill, and their sleepe departeth except they cause some to fall.
17 Car ils se nourrissent du pain de l'impiété, et s'enivrent du vin des pécheurs.
For they eate the breade of wickednesse, and drinke the wine of violence.
18 Les voies des justes brillent comme la lumière; ils marchent, et ils sont illuminés jusqu'à ce que le jour se lève.
But the way of the righteous shineth as the light, that shineth more and more vnto the perfite day.
19 Mais les voies des impies sont impures; ils ne savent pas comment ils trébuchent.
The way of the wicked is as the darkenes: they knowe not wherein they shall fall.
20 Mon fils, sois attentif à ma voix, et prête l'oreille à mes paroles;
My sonne, hearken vnto my wordes, incline thine eare vnto my sayings.
21 Et pour que les fontaines de vie ne te manquent pas, garde-les en ton cœur.
Let them not depart from thine eyes, but keepe them in the middes of thine heart.
22 Car elles sont la vie de ceux qui les trouvent, et la santé de leur chair.
For they are life vnto those that find them, and health vnto all their flesh.
23 Veille de toute ton attention sur ton cœur; car de là sort le principe de la vie.
Keepe thine heart with all diligence: for thereout commeth life.
24 Chasse loin de toi toute langue perverse, et repousse les lèvres iniques.
Put away from thee a froward mouth, and put wicked lippes farre from thee.
25 Que tes yeux voient le bien; que tes paupières approuvent le juste.
Let thine eyes beholde the right, and let thine eyelids direct thy way before thee.
26 Prépare pour tes pieds des sentiers droits, et qu'il n'y ait point de détours en tes voies.
Ponder the path of thy feete, and let all thy waies be ordred aright.
27 N'incline ni à droite ni à gauche, et retire tes pieds de la voie mauvaise.
Turne not to the right hande, nor to the left, but remooue thy foote from euill.
