1 Voici les générations d'Aaron et de Moïse, le jour où le Seigneur parla à Moïse en la montagne de Sina.
These are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the Lord spoke to Moses in mount Sinai.
2 Voici les noms des fils d'Aaron: premier-né, Nadab, puis Abiu, Eléazar et Ithamar.
And these the names of the sons of Aaron: his firstborn Nadab, then Abiu, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3 Tels sont les noms des fils d'Aaron, des prêtres qui reçurent l'onction sainte, et dont les mains furent consacrées, pour qu'ils exerçassent le sacerdoce.
These the names of the sons of Aaron the priests that were anointed, and whose hands were filled and consecrated, to do the functions of priesthood.
4 Nadab et Abiu moururent devant le Seigneur, tandis qu'ils offraient devant le Seigneur, dans le désert de Sina, un feu étranger; et comme ils n'avaient pas d'enfants, Eléazar et Ithamar exercèrent le sacerdoce avec Aaron leur père.
Now Nadab and Abiu died, without children, when they offered strange fire before the Lord, in the desert of Sinai: and Eleazar and Ithamar performed the priestly office in the presence of Aaron their father.
5 Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
6 Prends la tribu de Lévi et place les lévites devant le prêtre Aaron, pour qu'ils l'assistent dans le service divin.
Bring the tribe of Levi, and make them stand in the sight of Aaron the priest to minister to him, and let them watch,
7 Ils seront chargés d'accomplir les œuvres du culte, devant le tabernacle du témoignage, en son nom, et au nom des fils d'Israël.
And observe whatsoever appertaineth to the service of the multitude before the tabernacle of the testimony,
8 Et ils garderont tous les ornements du tabernacle du témoignage, et ils accompliront, pour les fils d'Israël, toutes les œuvres du tabernacle.
And let them keep the vessels of the tabernacle, serving in the ministry thereof.
9 Tu donneras les lévites à Aaron et à ses fils les prêtres; les lévites sont le don qui m'a été fait parmi les fils d'Israël.
And thou shalt give the Levites for a gift,
10 Et tu établiras Aaron et ses fils sur le tabernacle du témoignage; ils seront chargés du sacerdoce, et des choses qui concernent tant l'autel que l'extérieur du voile du sanctuaire. Tout homme étranger à la tribu de Lévi, qui touchera aux choses sacrées, mourra.
To Aaron and to his sons, to whom they are delivered by the children of Israel. But thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons over the service of priesthood. The stranger that approacheth to minister, shall be put to death.
11 Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
12 J'ai pris, parmi les fils d'Israël, les lévites en échange de tout premier-né des fils d'Israël. Les lévites seront la rançon des premiers-nés; ils seront à moi.
I have taken the Levites from the children of Israel, for every firstborn that openeth the womb among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.
13 Car tout premier-né est à moi; du jour où j'ai frappé tout premier-né en la terre d'Egypte, je me suis consacré tout premier-né en Israël, depuis l'homme jusqu'aux bestiaux; tout premier-né m'appartiendra: je suis le Seigneur.
For every firstborn is mine: since I struck the firstborn in the land of Egypt: I have sanctified to myself whatsoever is firstborn in Israel both of man and beast, they are mine: I am the Lord.
14 Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse dans le désert de Sina, disant:
And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai, saying:
15 Fais le dénombrement des fils de Lévi, par branches, par maisons paternelles; recensez tous les mâles: ceux qui sont nés dans le mois et au-dessus.
Number the sons of Levi by the houses of their fathers and their families, every male from one month and upward.
16 Moïse et Aaron firent le recensement selon l'ordre du Seigneur, comme il le leur avait prescrit.
Moses numbered them as the Lord had commanded.
17 Voici les noms des fils de Lévi: Gerson, Caath et Mérari;
And there were found sons of Levi by their names, Gerson and Caath and Merari.
18 Voici les noms des fils de Gerson, par branches: Lobeni et Sémeï;
The sons of Gerson: Lebni and Semei.
19 Et ceux des fils de Caath, par branches: Amram, Isaar, Hébron et Oziel
The sons of Caath: Amram, and Jesaar, Hebron and Oziel:
20 Et ceux des fils de Mérari, par branches: Moholi et Musi.
The sons of Merari: Moholi and Musi.
21 De Gerson proviennent les branches de Lobeni et de Sémeï; telles sont les branches des Gersonites.
Of Gerson were two families, the Lebnites, and the Semeites:
22 Tout mâle d'un mois et au-dessus étant compté, leur recensement a donné sept mille cinq cents âmes.
Of which were numbered, people of the male sex from one month and upward, seven thousand five hundred.
23 Or, les fils de Gerson camperont derrière le tabernacle du côté de l'occident.
These shall pitch behind the tabernacle on the west,
24 Le chef de la maison paternelle des branches de Gerson sera Eliasaph, fils de Daël.
Under their prince Eliasaph the son of Lael.
25 La fonction des fils de Gerson dans le tabernacle du témoignage sera de garder le tabernacle lui-même et sa couverture, la porte d'entrée du tabernacle du témoignage,
And their charge shall be in the tabernacle of the covenant:
26 Les tentures du parvis, les voiles de la porte du parvis qui entoure le tabernacle, et tout le reste de ses ouvrages.
The tabernacle itself and the cover thereof, the hanging that is drawn before the doors of the tabernacle of the covenant, and the curtains of the court: the hanging also that is hanged in the entry of the court of the tabernacle, and whatsoever belongeth to the rite of the altar, the cords of the tabernacle, and all the furniture thereof.
27 De Gaath proviennent les branches d'Amram, d'Isaar, d'Hébron et d'Oziel; telles sont les quatre branches des Caathites.
Of the kindred of Caath come the families of the Amramites and Jesaarites and Hebronites and Ozielites. These are the families of the Caathites reckoned up by their names:
28 Tout mâle d'un mois et au-dessus étant compté, leur recensement a donné un total de huit mille six cents hommes, chargés de garder le sanctuaire et le Saint des saints.
All of the male sex from one month and upward, eight thousand six hundred: they shall have the guard of the sanctuary,
29 Les branches des fils de Caath camperont du côté du tabernacle qui regarde le midi;
And shall camp on the south side.
30 Et le chef de la maison paternelle des branches de Gaath sera Elisaphan, fils d'Oziel.
And their prince shall be Elisaphan the son of Oziel:
31 Ils auront la garde de l'arche, de la table, du chandelier, des autels et des ornements du sanctuaire, servant au culte sacré, ainsi que du voile intérieur, et de tous les ouvrages qui s'y rapportent.
And they shall keep the ark, and the table and the candlestick, the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary, wherewith they minister, and the veil, and all the furniture of this kind.
32 Et le chef des chefs des lévites, Eléazar, fils d'Aaron, est préposé à la garde du sanctuaire.
And the prince of the princes of the Levites, Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, shall be over them that watch for the guard of the sanctuary.
33 De Mérari proviennent les branches de Moholi et de Musi; telles sont les branches des Mérarites.
And of Merari are the families of the Moholites, and Musites, reckoned up by their names:
34 Tout mâle d'un mois et au-dessus étant compté, le recensement a donné six mille cinquante âmes.
All of the male kind from one month and upward, six thousand two hundred.
35 Et le chef de la maison paternelle des branches de Mérari sera Suriel, fils d'Abichaïl; ils camperont du côté du tabernacle qui regarde le nord;
Their prince Suriel the son of Abihaiel: they shall camp on the north side.
36 Ils seront chargés de conserver les chapiteaux du tabernacle, ses leviers, ses colonnes, ses bases avec tous leurs accessoires, et tout ce qui leur appartient;
Under their custody shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars, and the pillars and their sockets, and all things that pertain to this kind of service:
37 Et les colonnes qui entourent le parvis avec leurs bases, les piquets et les cordages.
And the pillars of the court round about with their sockets, and the pins with their cords.
38 Ceux qui camperont du côté de l'orient devant le tabernacle du témoignage, c'est-à-dire Moïse et Aaron et ses fils, auront pour fonction, parmi les fonctions des fils d'Israël, la garde du sanctuaire. Tout homme étranger à la tribu de Lévi, qui touchera les choses saintes, mourra.
Before the tabernacle of the covenant, that is to say on the east side, shall Moses and Aaron camp, with their sons, having the custody of the sanctuary, in the midst of the children of Israel. What stranger soever cometh unto it, shall be put to death.
39 Le total des lévites dont Moïse, avec Aaron, fit le recensement selon l'ordre du Seigneur, par branches, tout mâle d'un mois et au-dessus étant compté, s'éleva à vingt-deux mille âmes.
All the Levites, that Moses and Aaron numbered according to the precept of the Lord, by their families, of the male kind from one month and upward, were twenty-two thousand.
40 Le Seigneur parla ensuite à Moïse, disant: Fais le dénombrement de tous les mâles premiers-nés des fils d'Israël d'un mois et au-dessus; prenez-en le compte nominativement.
And the Lord said to Moses: Number the firstborn of the male sex of the children of Israel, from one month and upward, and thou shalt take the sum of them.
41 Et prends pour moi les lévites en échange des premiers-nés des fils d'Israël: je suis le Seigneur; prends aussi pour moi le bétail des lévites en échange des premiers-nés du bétail des fils d'Israël.
And thou shalt take the Levites to me for all the firstborn of the children of Israel, I am the Lord: and their cattle for all the firstborn of the cattle of the children of Israel:
42 Moïse fit, comme le lui avait prescrit le Seigneur, le recensement de tous les premiers-nés des fils d'Israël.
Moses reckoned up, as the Lord had commanded, the firstborn of the children of Israel:
43 Et le total des premiers-nés mâles, d'un mois et au-dessus, comptés nominativement, s'éleva à vingt-deux mille deux cent soixante-treize âmes.
And the males by their names, from one month and upward, were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.
44 Le Seigneur dit encore Moïse:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saving:
45 Prends les lévites en échange des premiers-nés des fils d'Israël, et le bétail des lévites en échange des premiers-nés du bétail des fils d'Israël, et les lévites seront à moi: je suis le Seigneur.
Take the Levites for the firstborn of the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites for their cattle, and the Levites shall be mine. I am the Lord.
46 Prends aussi la rançon des deux cent soixante-treize fils d'Israël qui excèdent le nombre des lévites;
But for the price of the two hundred and seventy-three, of the firstborn of the children of Israel, that exceed the number of the Levites,
47 Prends cinq sicles par tête, au poids du sanctuaire; vingt oboles par sicle.
Thou shalt take five sides for every head, according to the weight of the sanctuary. A sicle hath twenty obols.
48 Tu donneras cet argent à Aaron et à ses fils; ce sera la rançon de ceux que ne rachètent pas les lévites.
And then shalt give the money to Aaron and his sons, the price of them that are above.
49 Moïse prit donc l'argent, la rançon de ceux que ne rachetaient pas les lévites.
Moses therefore took the money of them that were above, and whom they had redeemed from the Levites,
50 Et il reçut des premiers-nés des fils d'Israël treize cent soixante-cinq sicles, au poids du sanctuaire.
For the firstborn of the children of Israel, one thousand three hundred and sixty-five sicles, according to the weight of the sanctuary,
51 Et, selon l'ordre du Seigneur, Moïse donna la rançon du surplus à Aaron et à ses fils, comme le Seigneur le lui avait prescrit.
And gave it to Aaron and his sons, according to the word that the Lord had commanded him.
