1 Après la plaie, il advint que le Seigneur parla à Moïse et au grand prêtre Eléazar, disant:
And it came to pass after the plague, That the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Elazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,
2 Faites, par familles paternelles, le dénombrement des fils d'Israël de vingt ans et au-dessus, en état de porter les armes.
Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by the descent from their fathers, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel.
3 Moïse, avec le prêtre Eléazar, donna ses ordres en Araboth de Moab, vis-à- vis Jéricho, et il convoqua
And Moses with El'azar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, saying,
4 Les hommes de vingt ans et au-dessus, comme le Seigneur l'avait prescrit à Moïse. Voici les fils d'Israël qui sortirent de l'Egypte.
[Take the sum of the people, ] from twenty years old and upward; as the Lord commanded Moses and the children of Israel, who went forth out of the land of Egypt.
5 Ruben était le premier-né de Jacob; fils de Ruben: Enoch, et la famille des Enochites, Phallu, et la famille des Phalluites;
Reuben, the eldest son of Israel: the children of Reuben, of Chanoch, the family of the Chanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites;
6 Hesron, de qui sortit la famille des Hesronites; Charmi, de qui sortit la famille des Charmites.
Of Chezron, the family of the Chezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.
7 Telles étaient les branches de Ruben, et leur recensement donna quarante- trois mille sept cent trente âmes.
These are the families of the Reubenites; and those that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
8 Parmi les fils de Phallu, il y eut Eliab,
And the sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9 Les fils d'Eliab furent: Namuel, Dathan et Abiron; ils étaient illustres parmi le peuple, et ce furent eux qui se soulevèrent contre Moïse et Aaron lors du rassemblement de Coré et de la révolte contre le Seigneur.
And the sons of Eliab: Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. These are Dathan and Abiram, men called to the assembly, who quarreled against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korach, at the time they quarreled against the Lord;
10 Et la terre, ayant ouvert sa bouche, les dévora, dans le même temps que Coré périt avec son attroupement, lorsque le feu consuma les deux cent cinquante qui furent l'occasion d'un prodige.
When the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korach, while that company died, when the fire devoured the two hundred and fifty men; and they became a sign.
11 Mais les fils de Coré ne moururent pas.
But the sons of Korach did not die.
12 Voici les fils de Siméon et leurs familles: de Namuel, sortit la famille des Namuélites; de Jamin, celle des Jaminites; de Jachin, celle des Jachinites;
The sons of Simeon after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites; of Yamin, the family of the Yaminites; of Yachin, the family of the Yachinites;
13 De Zaré, sortit la famille des Zaréites; de Saül, celle des Saülites.
Of Zerach, the family of the Zarchites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.
14 Telles étaient les branches de Siméon, et leur recensement donna vingt-deux mille deux cents âmes.
These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty and two thousand and two hundred.
15 Voici les fils de Juda: Her et Onan, qui moururent en la terre de Chanaan.
The children of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites; of Chaggi, the family of the Chaggites; of Shuni, the family of the Shunites;
16 Et il y eut d'autres fils de Juda, et voici leurs familles: de Séla, sortit la famille des Sélaïtes; de Pharès, celle des Pharésites; de Zara, celle des Zaraïtes.
Of Ozni, the family of the Oznites; of 'Eri, the family of the 'Erites;
17 Et les fils de Pharès furent: Hesron, de qui sortit la famille des Hesronites; et Jamun, de qui sortit la famille des Jamunites.
Of Arod, the family of the Arodites; of Areli, the family of the Arelites;
18 Telles étaient les branches de Juda, comprenant, selon leur recensement, soixante-seize mille cinq cents âmes.
These are the families of the children of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand and five hundred.
19 Voici les fils d'Issachar, par familles: de Thola, sortit la famille des Tholaïtes; de Phua, celle des Phuaïtes;
The sons of Judah were 'Er and Onan; and 'Er with Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20 De Jasub, celle des Jasubites; de Semram, celle des Semramites.
And the sons of Judah after their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Parzites; of Zerach, the family of the Zarchites.
21 Telles étaient les branches d'Issachar; d'après leur recensement, il y eut soixante-quatre mille quatre cents âmes.
And the sons of Perez were: of Chezron, the family of the Chezronites; of Chamul, the family of the Chamulites.
22 Voici les fils de Zabulon: de Sared, sortit la famille des Sarédites; d'Elon, celle des Elonites; de Jalel, celle des Jalélites.
These are the families of Judah, according to those that were numbered of them, seventy and six thousand and five hundred.
23 Telles étaient les branches de Zabulon, et leur recensement donna soixante mille cinq cents âmes.
The sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola', the family of the Tola'ites; of Puva, the family of the Punites;
24 Voici les fils de Gad: de Séphon, sortit la famille des Séphonites; d'Aggi, celle des Aggites; de Suni, celle des Sunites;
Of Yashub, the family of the Yashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.
25 D'Ozni, celle des Oznites; de Her, celle des Hérites;
These are the families of Issachar according to those that were numbered of them, sixty and four thousand and three hundred.
26 D'Arod, celle des Arodites; d'Ariel, celle des Ariélites.
The sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Sardites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Yachleel, the family of the Yachleelites.
27 Telles étaient les branches des fils de Gad; d'après leur recensement, il y eut quarante-quatre mille cinq cents âmes.
These are the families of the Zebulonites according to those that were numbered of them, sixty thousand and five hundred.
28 Voici les fils d'Aser: de Jemna, sortit la famille des Jemnaïtes; de Jessui, celle des Jessuites; de Brié, celle des Briéites;
The sons of Joseph after their families are Menasseh and Ephraim.
29 D'Hober, celle des Hobérites; de Melchiel, celle de Melchiélites.
The sons of Menasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir begat Gil'ad; of Gil'ad, the family of the Gil'adites.
30 Aser eut aussi une fille du nom de Sara.
These are the sons of Gil'ad: of I'ezer, the family of the I'ezerites; of Chelek, the family of the Chelkites;
31 Telles étaient les branches d'Aser; d'après leur recensement, il y eut quarante-trois mille quatre cents âmes.
And of Assriel, the family of the Assrielites; and of Shechem, the family of the Shichmites;
32 Voici les branches de Manassé et d'Ephraïm, fils de Joseph:
And of Shemida', the family of the Shemida'ites; and of Chepher, the family of the Chephrites.
33 Familles des fils de Manassd: de Machir, sortit la familles des Machirites; Machir engendra Galaad; de Galaad, sortit la famille des Galaadites.
And Zelophehad the son of Chepher had no sons, but only daughters; and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Machlah, and No'ah, Choglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
34 Voici les fils de Galaad: de Jézer, sortit la famille des Jézérites; et d'Hélec, celle des Hélécites;
These are the families of Menasseh; and those that were numbered of them were fifty and two thousand and seven hundred.
35 D'Asriel, celle des Asriélites; et de Sichem, celle des Sichémites;
These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelach, the family of the Shuthalchites; of Becher, the family of the Bachrites; of Tachan, the family of the Tachanites.
36 De Sémida, celle des Sémidaïtes; et d'Epher, celle des Ephérites,
And these are the sons of Shuthelach: of 'Eran, the family of the Eranites.
37 Or, parmi les fils d'Epher, Salphaad n'eut point de fils, mais des filles, et voici les noms des filles de Salphaad: Maala, Noa, Hégla, Melcha et Thersa.
These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred: these are the sons of Joseph after their families.
38 Telles étaient les branches de Manassé, et leur recensement donna cinquante-deux mille sept cents âmes.
The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela', the family of the Bal'ites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of Achiram, the family of the Achiramites;
39 Voici les fils d'Ephraïm: de Suthala, sortit la famille des Suthalaïtes; de Bécher, celle des Béchérites; de Théhen, celle des Théhénites.
Of Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of Chupham, the family of the Chuphamites.
40 Voici les fils de Suthala: Eden, et la famille de Edénites.
And the sons of Bela' were Ard and Na'aman: of Ard, the family of the Ardites; and of Na'aman, the family of the Na'amites.
41 Telles étaient les branches des fils d'Ephraïm, et leur recensement donna trente-deux mille cinq cents âmes.
These are the sons of Benjamin after their families; and those that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred.
42 Telles étaient les branches des fils de Joseph. Voici les fils de Benjamin par familles: de Béla, sortit la famille des Bélaïtes; d'Asbel, celle des Asbélites; et d'Ahiram, celle des Ahiramites;
These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shucham, the family of the Shuchamites; these are the families of Dan after their families.
43 De Supham, celle des Suphamites; de Hupham, celle des Huphamites.
All the families of the Shuchamites, according to those that were numbered of them, were sixty and four thousand and four hundred.
44 Voici les fils de Béla; de Héred, sortit la famille des Hérédites; et de Noéman, celle des Noémanites.
The children of Asher after their families: of Yimnah, the family of the Yimnites; of Yishvi, the family of the Yishvites; of Beri'ah, the family of the Beri'ites.
45 Telles étaient les branches des fils de Benjamin, et leur recensement donna trente-cinq mille cinq cents âmes.
Of the sons of Beri'ah: of Cheber, the family of the Chebrites; of Malkiel, the family of the Makielites.
46 Voici les fils de Dan par familles: de Suham, fils de Dan, sortit la famille des Suhamites.
And the name of the daughter of Asher was Serach.
47 Toutes les familles portaient le nom de Suham, et leur recensement donna soixante-quatre mille quatre cents âmes.
These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those that were numbered of them, fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
48 Voici les fils de Nephthali par familles: de Jésiel, sortit la famille des Jésiélites; de Gémi, celle des Gémites;
The sons of Naphtali after their families: of Yachzeel, the family of the Yachzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;
49 De Jéser, celle des Jésérites; et de Sellem, celle des Sellémites,
Of Yezer, the family of the Yizrites; of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.
50 Telle étaient les branches de Nephthali, et leur dénombrement donna quarante-trois mille trois cents âmes.
These are the families of Naphtali according to their families; and those that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and four hundred.
51 Voici le total du dénombrement des fils d'Israël: six cent un mille sept cent trente hommes.
These were the numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand, and one thousand, seven hundred and thirty.
52 Le Seigneur parla ensuite à Moïse, disant:
And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
53 La terre sera partagée par têtes entre ces hommes, pour qu'ils la possèdent.
Unto these shall the land be divided for an inheritance according to the number of the names.
54 Aux plus nombreux, tu donneras les plus fortes parts, et aux moins nombreux des parts moindres, chacun selon le recensement aura sa part d'héritage.
To the large tribe shalt thou give the more inheritance, and to the small shalt thou give the less inheritance: to each according to those that were numbered thereof shall its inheritance be given.
55 La terre sera partagée au sort par chaque tête; on tirera les sorts par tribus paternelles.
Nevertheless, through the lot shall the land be divided: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers shall they obtain their inheritance.
56 Tu leur distribueras leur héritage par la voie du sort, quel que soit le nombre de la tribu.
By the decision of the lot shall the inheritance of each be divided, according as they are many or few.
57 Voici les fils de Lévi par familles; de Gerson, sortit la famille des Gersonites; de Caath, celle des Caathites; et de Mérari, celle des Mérarites,
And these are those that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershunites: of Kehath, the family of the Kehathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.
58 Voici les familles des fils de Lévi: les Lobénites, les Hébronites, les Coréites, les Musites; Caath engendra aussi Amram;
These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Chebronites, the family of the Machlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korchites; and Kehath begat 'Amran.
59 La femme de celui-ci se nommait Jochabed, issue de Lévi, elle eut tous ses enfants en Egypte, et fut mère d'Aaron, de Moïse et de leur sœur Marie.
And the name of 'Amram's wife was Yochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom [her mother] bore to Levi in Egypt; and she bore unto Amram, Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.
60 D'Aaron naquirent Nadab, Abiu, Eléazar et Ithamar,
And there were born unto Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, Elazar, and Ithamar.
61 Nadab et Abiu moururent pendant qu'ils offraient au Seigneur un feu étranger, dans le désert de Sina.
And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered a strange fire before the Lord.
62 Le recensement des lévites donna vingt-trois mille mâles d'un mois et au- dessus; ils n'avaient point été recensés avec les fils d'Israël, parce qu'il ne leur était point donné d'héritage parmi les fils d'Israël.
And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all the males from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was not given unto them any inheritance among the children of Israel.
63 Tel fut le dénombrement des fils d'Israël que firent Moïse et Eléazar le prêtre, en Araboth de Moab, sur les rives du Jourdain, en face de Jéricho.
These are those that were numbered by Moses and Elazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
64 Dans ce nombre, il n'y avait pas un homme qui eut été recensé par Moïse et Aaron, lors du dénombrement fait dans le désert de Sina.
And among these there was not one man of those whom Moses and Aaron the priest had numbered, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.
65 Car le Seigneur avait dit: ils mourront de mort dans le désert, et pas un d'eux n'était resté, hormis Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, et Josué, fils de Nau.
For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness: and there was not left of them one man, save Caleb the son of Yephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
