Malachie 3

1 Voilà que J'envoie Mon ange, et il surveillera la voie devant Moi, et le Seigneur que vous cherchez viendra soudain dans Son temple, avec l'ange de l'alliance que vous avez désiré; Le voici, Il vient, dit le Seigneur tout- puissant.

Behold I send my angel, and he shall prepare the way before my face. And presently the Lord, whom you seek, and the angel of the testament, whom you desire, shall come to his temple. Behold he cometh, saith the Lord of hosts.

2 Et qui donc aura le pied ferme le jour de Sa venue? Qui supportera Sa présence? Il vient comme le feu d'une fournaise, ou comme l'herbe à foulons.

And who shall be able to think of the day of his coming? and who shall stand to see him? for he is like a refining fire, and like the fuller’s herb:

3 Il siégera pour fondre et purifier, comme on purifie l'argent et l'or, et Il purifiera les fils de Lévi, et Il les coulera comme l'or et l'argent. Et ils offriront des victimes au Seigneur selon la justice.

And he shall sit refining and cleansing the silver, and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and shall refine them as gold, and as silver, and they shall offer sacrifices to the Lord in justice.

4 Et les sacrifices de Juda et de Jérusalem seront agréables au Seigneur, comme durant les jours anciens, comme durant les années d'autrefois.

And the sacrifice of Juda and of Jerusalem shall please the Lord, as in the days of old, and in the ancient years.

5 Et Je M'approcherai de vous en jugement, et Je serai un témoin empressé contre les magiciens, contre les femmes adultères, contre ceux qui prennent en vain Mon Nom, contre ceux qui retiennent le salaire du journalier, contre ceux qui oppriment la veuve, contre ceux qui maltraitent l'orphelin, contre ceux qui faussent le jugement envers l'étranger et n'ont pas la crainte de Moi, dit le Seigneur tout-puissant.

And I will come to you in judgment, and will be a speedy witness against sorcerers, and adulterers, and false swearers, and them that oppress the hireling in his wages; the widows, and the fatherless: and oppress the stranger, and have not feared me, saith the Lord of hosts.

6 Car Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu, et Je ne change pas.

For I am the Lord, and I change not: and you the sons of Jacob are not consumed.

7 Et vous, fils de Jacob, vous ne vous êtes point abstenus des iniquités de vos pères; vous vous êtes retirés de Ma loi, et vous ne l'avez point gardée. Convertissez-vous à Moi, et Je reviendrai à vous, dit le Seigneur tout- puissant. Et vous avez dit: En quoi nous convertirons-nous?

For from the days of your fathers you have departed from my ordinances, and have not kept them: Return to me, and I will return to you, saith the Lord of hosts. And you have said: Wherein shall we return?

8 Est-ce que l'homme fera tomber Dieu dans ses pièges? Car vous cherchez à Me tromper; et vous direz: En quoi cherchons-nous à Te tromper? C'est en retenant pour vous les dîmes et les prémices.

Shall a man afflict God? for you afflict me. And you have said: Wherein do we afflict thee? in tithes and in firstfruits.

9 Vous M'avez regardé avec mépris, et vous avez cherché à Me tromper. L'année est révolue,

And you are cursed with want, and you afflict me, even the whole nation of you.

10 et vous avez porté toutes les récoltes dans vos greniers; mais elles seront mises au pillage en chaque maison. Convertissez-vous sur ce point, dit le Seigneur tout-puissant. Et vous verrez alors si Je n'ouvrirai pas pour vous les cataractes du ciel, et si Je ne répandrai pas sur vous Ma bénédiction, jusqu'à ce que vous soyez satisfaits.

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house, and try me in this, saith the Lord: if I open not unto you the flood-gates of heaven, and pour you out a blessing even to abundance.

11 Et Je vous distribuerai votre nourriture, et Je n'endommagerai pas les fruits de votre champ, et votre vigne ne souffrira d'aucune maladie dans votre terre, dit le Seigneur tout-puissant.

And I will rebuke for your sakes the devourer, and he shall not spoil the fruit of your land: neither shall the vine in the field be barren, saith the Lord of hosts.

12 Et toutes les nations vous estimeront heureux, parce que vous serez une terre bien-aimée, dit le Seigneur tout-puissant.

And all nations shall call you blessed: for you shall be a delightful land, saith the Lord of hosts.

13 Vous avez tenu contre Moi des discours injurieux, dit le Seigneur, et vous avez dit: En quoi avons-nous parlé contre Toi?

Your words have been unsufferable to me, saith the Lord.

14 Et vous avez dit: Bien fou qui sert le Seigneur; qu'avons-nous de plus pour avoir gardé Ses commandements, et avoir paru comme suppliants devant Sa face?

And you have said: What have we spoken against thee? You have said: He laboureth in vain that serveth God, and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinances, and that we have walked sorrowful before the Lord of hosts?

15 Et maintenant nous estimons heureux les étrangers, ils se sont enrichis à mal faire; ils ont résisté à Dieu et ils ont été sauvés.

Wherefore now we call the proud people happy, for they that work wickedness are built up, and they have tempted God and are preserved.

16 Mais bien autrement ont parlé les hommes craignant Dieu. Et le Seigneur a été attentif, et Il a écouté, et Il a écrit un livre, un mémorial devant Lui, pour ceux qui craignent le Seigneur et vénèrent Son Nom.

Then they that feared the Lord spoke every one with his neighbour: and the Lord gave ear, and heard it: and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that fear the Lord, and think on his name.

17 Et ils seront à Moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu tout-puissant, le jour que Je ferai naître, pour Me les réserver, et Je les aimerai comme un homme aime son fils qui le sert.

And they shall be my special possession, saith the Lord of hosts, in the day that I do judgment: and I will spare them, as a man spareth his son that serveth him.

18 Et vous vous convertirez, et vous distinguerez le juste du méchant; le serviteur de Dieu, de celui qui refuse de Le servir.

And you shall return, and shall see the difference between the just and the wicked: and between him that serveth God, and him that serveth him not.
