Juges 3
1 Voici les peuples que laissa le Seigneur pour éprouver par eux en Israël, tous ceux qui n'avaient point vu les guerres de Chanaan,
And these [are] the nations which he left Yahweh to put to [the] test by them Israel all [those] who not they had known all [the] wars of Canaan.
2 Uniquement pour l'amour des générations des fils d'Israël, dans le but de leur apprendre la guerre (mais les générations précédentes n'avaient point connu ces choses):
Only so as to know [the] generations of [the] people of Israel to teach them war only which before not they had known them.
3 Les cinq principautés des Philistins tout le Chananéen, et le Sidonien, et l'Evéen, qui habitait le Liban, depuis les montagnes d'Hermon jusqu'à Labo- Emath.
[the] five - [the] rulers of [the] Philistines And all the Canaanite[s] and the Sidonian[s] and the Hivite[s] [who] dwelt of [the] mount of Lebanon from [the] mountain of Baal Hermon to Lebo Hamath.
4 Et cela arriva pour que le Seigneur éprouvât par eux Israël, et pour qu'il connut si le peuple était docile aux commandements que Dieu avait intimés à ses pères par la voix de Moïse.
And they were to put to [the] test by them Israel to know ¿ will they obey [the] commandments of Yahweh which he had commanded ancestors their by [the] hand of Moses.
5 Les fils d'Israël habitaient donc au milieu du Chananéen, de l'Héttéen, de l'Amorrhéen, du Phérézéen, de l'Evéen et du Jébuséen.
And [the] people of Israel they dwelt in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] the Hittite[s] and the Amorite[s] and the Perizzite[s] and the Hivite[s] and the Jebusite[s].
6 Et ils prirent leurs filles pour femmes, et ils donnèrent à leurs fils des filles d'Israël, et ils servirent leurs dieux.
And they took daughters their for themselves to wives and daughters their they gave to sons their and they served gods their.
7 Ainsi, les fils d'Israël firent le mal devant le Seigneur; ils oublièrent le Seigneur leur Dieu, et ils servirent les Baal et les bois sacrés.
And they did [the] people of Israel the evil in [the] eyes of Yahweh and they forgot Yahweh God their and they served the Baals and the Asherah poles.
8 Et le Seigneur se courrouça contre Israël; il le livra aux mains de Chusarsathaïm, roi de la Syrie des fleuves, et les fils d'Israël furent assujettis huit ans à Chusarsathaïm.
And it burned [the] anger of Yahweh on Israel and he sold them in [the] hand of Cushan-Rishathaim [the] king of Aram Naharaim and they served [the] people of Israel Cushan-Rishathaim eight years.
9 Et les fils d'Israël crièrent au Seigneur, et le Seigneur suscita pour Israël un sauveur qui les délivra; ce fut Othoniel, fils de Cenez, frère puîné de Caleb.
And they cried out [the] people of Israel to Yahweh and he raised up Yahweh a deliverer for [the] people of Israel and he delivered them Othniel [the] son of Kenaz [the] brother of Caleb young more than him.
10 Et l'esprit du Seigneur vint en lui, il jugea Israël, et il sortit pour combattre Chusarsathaïm. Le Seigneur livra à ses mains Chusarsathaïm, roi de la Syrie des fleuves, et sa main prévalut contre Chusarsathaïm.
And it was on him [the] spirit of Yahweh and he judged Israel and he went out to war and he gave Yahweh in hand his Cushan-Rishathaim [the] king of Aram and it prevailed hand his over Cushan-Rishathaim.
11 Et la terre fut en repos durant quarante années, et Othoniel, fils de Cénez, mourut.
And it was at peace the land forty year[s] and he died Othniel [the] son of Kenaz.
12 Aussitôt, les fils d'Israël recommencèrent à faire le mal devant le Seigneur, et le Seigneur fortifia Eglom, roi de Moab, contre les fils d'Israël, parce qu'ils avaient fait le mal devant le Seigneur.
And they repeated [the] people of Israel to do the evil in [the] eyes of Yahweh and he strengthened Yahweh Eglon [the] king of Moab over Israel on for they did the evil in [the] eyes of Yahweh.
13 S'étant adjoint tous les fils d'Ammon et d'Amalec, il se mit en marche, il vainquit Israël, et il s'empara de la Ville des Palmiers.
And he gathered to himself [the] people of Ammon and Amalek and he went and he attacked Israel and they took possession of [the] city of the palm trees.
14 Puis, les fils d'Israël furent assujettis dix-huit ans à Eglom, roi de Moab.
And they served [the] people of Israel Eglon [the] king of Moab eight-teen year[s].
15 Et les fils d'Israël crièrent au Seigneur, et il leur suscita un sauveur, Aod, fils de Géra, fils de Jémini, homme ambidextre; les fils d'Israël envoyèrent par ses mains des présents à Eglom, roi de Moab.
And they cried out [the] people of Israel to Yahweh and he raised up Yahweh for them a deliverer Ehud [the] son of Gera [the] Ben-jaminite a man impeded [the] hand of right his and they sent [the] people of Israel by hand his tribute to Eglon [the] king of Moab.
16 Aod se fit un poignard à double tranchant de la longueur de sa main, et il se l'attacha sous son manteau, contre la cuisse droite.
And he made for himself Ehud a sword and [belonged] to it two lips [was] a cubit length its and he girded it from under to garments his on [the] thigh of right his.
17 Et il partit portant des présents à Eglom, roi de Moab; Eglom était un homme obèse.
And he brought near the tribute to Eglon [the] king of Moab and Eglon [was] a man fat very.
18 Et lorsque Aod eut achevé de lui remettre les présents, il sortit et congédia ceux qui les avaient apportés.
And it was just when he had finished to bring near the tribute and he sent away the people [who] bore the tribute.
19 Lui-même étant revenu des carrières de Galgal, dit à Eglom: roi, un mot en secret. Et Eglom lui dit: Garde le silence. Et il éloigna tous ceux qui se tenaient auprès de lui.
And he he returned from the idols which [were] with Gilgal and he said a word of secrecy [belongs] to me to you O king and he said hush! and they went out from with him all those [who] stood with him.
20 Aod s'approcha de lui; or, il était assis tout à fait seul dans son appartement d'été. Et Aod lui dit: roi, un mot de mon Dieu pour toi seul. Et Eglom se leva de son trône pour être plus près d'Aod.
And Ehud - he came to him and he [was] sitting in [the] roof chamber of the coolness which [belonged] to him to only him and he said Ehud a word of God [belongs] to me to you and he rose from on the throne.
21 Et pendant qu'il se levait, Aod étendit la main gauche, prit le poignard sur sa cuisse droite, et l'enfonça dans les entrailles d'Eglom.
And he stretched out Ehud [the] hand of left his and he took the sword from on [the] thigh of right his and he thrust it in belly his.
22 Il fit entrer aussi la poignée après la lame, et la graisse se referma tout le long de l'arme, parce qu'il n'avait point retiré le poignard de la blessure.
And it went also the hilt after the blade and it closed up the fat behind the blade that not he drew out the sword from belly his and he went out the hole towards.
23 Aod sortit par le vestibule; il évita les gardes, après avoir tiré sur lui les portes de l'appartement, et les avoir verrouillées.
And he went out Ehud the porch towards and he closed [the] doors of the roof chamber behind him and he locked [them].
24 A sortit donc, et les serviteurs du roi survinrent; ils virent: or, voilà que les portes de l'appartement Etaient verrouillées; alors ils dirent: Ne va-t-il pas délivrer ses pieds dans l'appartement d'été?
And he he went forth and servants his they came and they saw and there! [the] doors of the roof chamber [were] locked and they said surely [is] covering he feet his in [the] chamber of the coolness.
25 Et ils attendirent jusqu'à ce que la rougeur leur vint au visage; enfin, comme personne n'ouvrait la porte de l'appartement d'été, ils prirent la clef; ils ouvrirent, et virent leur maître étendu mort.
And they writhed until were ashamed and there! not he [was] opening [the] doors of the roof chamber and they took the key and they opened [them] and there! master their [was] lying [the] ground towards dead.
26 Cependant, Aod s'était sauvé tandis qu'ils étaient pleins de trouble, et nul ne s'occupa de lui; il passa près des carrières, et il arriva sain et sauf à Sétirotha.
And Ehud he escaped until delayed they and he he passed by the idols and he escaped Seirah towards.
27 Aussitôt qu'Aod eut atteint la terre d'Israël, il fit sonner du cor dans les montagnes d'Ephraïm; les fils d'Israël descendirent avec lui de leurs montagnes, et il se mit à leur tête.
And it was when came he and he gave a blast on the ram's horn in [the] hill country of Ephraim and they went down with him [the] people of Israel from the hill country and he [was] before them.
28 Puis, il leur dit: Suivez-moi, car le Seigneur Dieu nous a livrés nos ennemis de Moab. Ils le suivirent, et s'emparèrent des gués du Jourdain qui étaient devant Moab, et ils ne permirent à aucun Moabite de passer.
And he said to them pursue after me for he has given Yahweh enemies your Moab in hand your and they went down after him and they captured [the] fords of the Jordan to Moab and not they permitted anyone to pass over.
29 Ce jour-là, ils vainquirent Moab; ils tuèrent dix mille hommes, tous gras et pleins de force; pas un seul combattant n'échappa.
And they struck down Moab at the time that about ten thousand man every stout [person] and every man of strength and not he escaped anyone.
30 Ce jour-là Moab fat humilié par les mains d'Israël, et la terre resta en repos quatre-vingts ans, et Aod les jugea jusqu'à ce qu'il mourut.
And it was subdued Moab on the day that under [the] hand of Israel and it was at peace the land eighty year[s].
31 Après lui s'éleva Samegar, fils de Dinach; il vainquit les Philistins, au nombre de six cents hommes, avec un soc de charrue. Et lui aussi sauva Israël.
And after him he was Shamgar [the] son of Anath and he struck down [the] Philistines six hundred man with [the] goad of cattle and he delivered also he Israel.
