Juges 17
1 Il y avait, dans les montagnes d'Ephraïm, un homme qui se nommait Michas.
There was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Michah,
2 Et il dit à sa mère: Les onze cents sicles d'argent que tu as pris pour toi, et au sujet desquels tu m'as adjuré avec des imprécations, en me disant: «Vois, l'argent est avec moi; » ces sicles, je les ai pris. Et sa mère répondit: Beni soit mon fils, au nom du Seigneur.
And he saide vnto his mother, The eleuen hundreth shekels of siluer that were taken from thee, for the which thou cursedst, and spakedst it, euen in mine hearing, beholde, the siluer is with me, I tooke it. Then his mother saide, Blessed be my sonne of the Lord.
3 Et il rendit à sa mère les onze cents sicles d'argent, et sa mère s'écria: J'ai consacré au Seigneur cet argent, qui passe de ma main en celle de mon fils, pour qu'on en fasse une sculpture et un ouvrage en fonte, et je te le remettrai tout à l'heure à cet effet.
And when he had restored the eleuen hundreth shekels of siluer to his mother, his mother sayd, I had dedicate the siluer to the Lord of mine hand for my sonne, to make a grauen and molten image. Now therfore I will giue it thee again.
4 Et il rendit l'argent à sa mère, qui en prit deux cents sicles pour les donner à un orfèvre; celui-ci en fit une sculpture et un ouvrage en fonte; après quoi, ces images restèrent en la maison de Michas.
And when he had restored the money vnto his mother, his mother tooke two hundreth shekels of siluer, and gaue them to the founder, which made thereof a grauen and molten image, and it was in the house of Michah.
5 La maison de Michas était pour lui la maison de Dieu; il fit un éphod, des théraphim, et il remplit la main de l'un de ses fils qui fut chez lui le prêtre.
And this man Michah had an house of gods, and made an Ephod, and Teraphim, and cosecrated one of his sonnes, who was his Priest.
6 En ces jours-là, il n'y avait point de roi en Israël; chacun faisait ce qui était droit à ses yeux.
In those dayes there was no King in Israel, but euery man did that which was good in his owne eyes.
7 Or, il y avait un jeune homme de Bethléem en Juda qui était lévite, et demeurait là.
There was also a yong man out of Bethlehem Iudah, of the familie of Iudah: who was a Leuite, and soiourned there.
8 Cet homme, étant parti de Bethléem, ville de Juda, afin de demeurer en un autre lieu à son gré, atteignit les montagnes d'Ephraïm, et il trouva sur son chemin la maison de Michas.
And the man departed out of the citie, euen out of Beth-lehem Iudah, to dwell where he coulde finde a place: and as he iourneyed, he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Michah
9 Et Michas lui dit: D'où viens-tu? Et il lui dit: Je suis lévite de Bethléem en Juda; je vais demeurer en un autre lieu à mon gré.
And Michah saide vnto him, Whence comest thou? And the Leuite answered him, I come from Beth-lehem Iudah, and goe to dwell where I may finde a place.
10 Et Michas lui dit: Reste avec moi; sois pour moi un père et un prêtre, je te donnerai dix sicles par jour, avec des vêtements et ce qui sert à la vie.
Then Michah said vnto him, Dwell with me, and be vnto me a father and a Priest, and I will giue thee ten shekels of siluer by yeere, and a sute of apparell, and thy meate and drinke. So the Leuite went in.
11 Le lévite entra donc; il commença à demeurer auprès de l'homme, et le jeune homme fut pour lui comme l'un de ses fils.
And the Leuite was content to dwel with the man, and the yong man was vnto him as one of his owne sonnes.
12 Michas remplit la main du lévite; celui-ci fut chez lui le prêtre, et il fit partie de la maison de Michas.
And Michah consecrated the Leuite, and the yong man was his Priest, and was in the house of Michah.
13 Alors, Michas dit: Je reconnais maintenant que le Seigneur me favorise, puisqu'un lévite est prêtre chez moi.
Then said Michah, Nowe I know that the Lord will be good vnto me, seeing I haue a Leuite to my Priest.
