Job 37
1 Ces réflexions ont troublé mon cœur, et il s'est écoulé hors de son enveloppe.
Yea, at this, my heart quaketh, and starteth up out of its place.
2 Ecoute les accents de la colère du Seigneur; songe à tout ce qui sortira de sa bouche.
Hear! oh hear! the raging of his voice, A growling sound also, out of his mouth, goeth forth;
3 Il règne sur tout ce que le ciel recouvre, et sa lumière s'étend sur les ailes de la terre.
Under the whole heavens, he letteth it loose, His lightning also, unto the wings of the earth;
4 Des voix s'élèveront derrière lui, elles se récrieront avec insolence; elles ne changeront pas ceux qui le servent, parce qu'ils l'auront compris.
After it, roareth a voice, He thundereth with his voice of majesty, Nor will he hold them back, when his voice is heard.
5 Le Tout-Puissant fera retentir son tonnerre; il proclamera ses merveilles; car il a fait de grandes choses qui nous sont inconnues.
GOD thundereth with his voice, wonderfully, Doing great things, which we cannot know;
6 Il commande à la neige de tomber sur les champs; il règle l'hiver, la pluie, les tempêtes et les inondations qui signalent sa puissance.
For, to the snow, he saith, Fall earthwards, —Also to the downpour of rain, yea the downpour of his mighty rains.
7 Il appose son scel sur la main de l'homme, afin que chacun connaisse sa propre faiblesse.
On the hand of every man, he setteth a seal, that all men may take note of his doing.
8 Les bêtes fauves sont entrées en l'asile de l'homme; elles se sont reposées sur sa couche.
So then the wild-beast hath gone into covert, and, in its lairs, doth it remain.
9 Les douleurs envahissent ses chambres les plus retirées; elles naissent au plus profond de son âme.
Out of a chamber cometh a storm-wind, and, out of the north, cold.
10 Le Tout-Puissant de son souffle répand la froidure; il dispose de l'eau comme il lui plaît.
By the breath of GOD, is given—frost, and, the breadth of waters, is congealed;
11 La nuée enveloppe aussi son élu, mais sa lumière la dissipe.
Also, with moisture, burdeneth he the thick cloud, He disperseth his lightning-cloud;
12 Et lui-même contourne selon sa volonté le cercle des travaux humains. Tout ce qu'il leur a prescrit,
Yea, the same, in circles, turneth itself to and fro, by his steering them to their work, whithersoever he commandeth them, over the face of the world, towards the earth.
13 Tout ce qu'il a réglé sur la terre le manifestera, et les champs, et les plantes, et sa miséricorde.
Whether, as a rod, or for his earth, or in lovingkindness, he causeth it to come.
14 Recueille tout ce que j'ai dit, Job; contiens-toi, et ne perds pas de vue la puissance du Seigneur.
Give thou ear unto this, O Job, Stay, and consider well the wonders of GOD: —
15 Nous savons que Dieu, avant de créer les êtres, a séparé la lumière des ténèbres.
Canst thou got to know of GOD’S giving charge over them, or of the causing of the lightning of his cloud to shine forth?
16 Il prévoit la dispersion des nuages et la chute des méchants.
Canst thou get to know concerning the poisings of the thick cloud, the wonders of one who is perfect in knowledge?
17 Ta robe te tient chaud: c'est qu'il fait régner le calme sur la terre.
That thy garments should be hot when he quieteth the earth from the south?
18 S'il te protège, tu consolideras ce qui tombe de vétusté; les choses les plus fortes, sans lui, sont comme la vision de l'onde qui s'écoule.
Didst thou spread out, with him, the skies, strong as a molten mirror?
19 C'est pourquoi, apprends-le-moi, que lui dirons-nous? Cessons nos longs discours.
Let us know what we shall say to him, We cannot set in order, by reason of darkness.
20 Est-ce qu'il n'y a pas le livre ou bien le scribe, afin qu'étant homme je sache garder le silence?
Shall it be declared to him—that I would speak? Were any man to say aught, he might he destroyed?
21 La lumière n'est pas visible pour tous; la lèpre blanche s'attache aux vieux édifices, semblable à la faible lueur que Dieu répand sur les nuées.
Yet, now, men see not the light, bright though it is in the skies, when, a wind, hath passed over, and cleansed them.
22 L'aquilon amène des nuages éclatants comme l'or; ils ont la splendeur et la gloire
Out of the north, a golden light cometh, Upon GOD, is fearful splendour:
23 Du Tout-Puissant, et nous ne connaissons aucun vent qui lui soit semblable pour la force. Le souverain juge des choses justes croit-il devoir lui prêter la moindre attention?
The Almighty, whom we have not fully found out, is great in vigour, —Neither, justice nor abounding righteousness, will he weaken.
24 Aussi les hommes craindront Dieu; les sages en leur cœur auront crainte devant lui.
Therefore, do men revere him, He will not regard any who are wise in heart.
