Job 26

1 Or Job reprenant dit:

And Job answers and says:

2 A qui t'adjoins-tu, qui crois-tu devoir secourir? Est-ce que sa puissance n'est pas infinie? Son bras manque-t-il de force?

“How you have helped the powerless, Saved an arm not strong!

3 Avec qui t'ingères-tu de délibérer? N'est-il pas toute sagesse? A qui offres-tu tes services? N'est-ce pas au Tout-Puissant?

How you have given counsel to the unwise, And made known wise plans in abundance.

4 A qui s'adressent tes paroles? Et de qui dépend le souffle qui s'exhale de ton sein?

With whom have you declared words? And whose breath came forth from you?

5 Les géants ne sont-ils pas nourris sous les eaux et dans les lieux qui les avoisinent?

The Rephaim are formed, Also their inhabitants beneath the waters.

6 L'enfer est nu devant le Seigneur, et la perdition n'a pas de vêtement. (Sheol h7585)

Sheol [is] naked before Him, And there is no covering to destruction. (Sheol h7585)

7 Il a étendu le Nord jusqu'au vide; il a suspendu la terre sur le néant.

Stretching out the north over desolation, Hanging the earth on nothing,

8 Il a enchaîné la pluie dans ses nuées, et tant qu'il les contient elles ne peuvent s'ouvrir.

Binding up the waters in His thick clouds, And the cloud is not burst under them.

9 Il a voilé son trône; il l'a entouré de ses nuées.

Taking hold of the face of the throne, Spreading His cloud over it.

10 La surface des eaux, à son ordre, s'est arrondie jusqu'au lieu où la lumière s'associe aux ténèbres.

He has placed a limit on the waters, To the boundary of light with darkness.

11 Il a examiné les colonnes du ciel; à ses reproches elles ont été saisies d'épouvante.

Pillars of the heavens tremble, And they wonder because of His rebuke.

12 Il a calmé par sa force la fureur des flots; il a dompté par sa science le monstre marin.

By His power He has quieted the sea, And by His understanding struck the proud.

13 Les portes du ciel elles-mêmes le redoutent; d'un seul mot il a tué le dragon rebelle.

He beautified the heavens by His Spirit, His hand has formed the fleeing serpent.

14 Ceci n'est qu'une part de ses voies; nous ne pouvons parler de lui qu'en un langage obscurci de vapeur; qui sait ce qu'il fera de son tonnerre?

Behold, these [are] the borders of His way, and how little a matter is heard of Him, and who understands the thunder of His might?”
