Job 19
1 Et Job reprenant dit:
Then Job answered and said:
2 Jusqu'à quand fatiguerez-vous mon âme et me tuerez-vous de vos discours?
How long will ye vex my soul, and crush me with words?
3 Sachez seulement que le Seigneur m'a traité de la sorte. Persuadez-moi, et ne vous attachez pas tant à me faire honte.
These ten times have ye reproached me; ye are not ashamed that ye deal harshly with me.
4 En vérité, j'ai sans doute failli; l'erreur réside avec moi. Dis-moi donc quelque chose que j'ignore, sans quoi je m'égarerai en mes réponses, et elles manqueront d'à propos.
And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
5 Cessez, car vous vous grandissez pour m'assaillir, et vous m'accablez d'outrages.
If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach;
6 Mais ne perdez donc pas de vue que c'est le Seigneur qui m'a troublé, et qu'il a élevé contre moi ses murailles.
Know now that God hath subverted my cause, and hath compassed me with His net.
7 De vos injures je ne ferais que rire, et je ne dirais mot; quand je crierais, je n'obtiendrais pas de jugement.
Behold, I cry out: 'Violence!' but I am not heard; I cry aloud, but there is no justice.
8 Mais des remparts m'étreignent et je ne puis les traverser, et l'obscurité règne devant moi.
He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and hath set darkness in my paths.
9 Le Seigneur m'a ravi toute gloire, il a ôté la couronne que je portais sur la tête.
He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
10 Il m'a tiraillé dans tous les sens et j'ai succombé; il a abattu comme un arbre toute mon espérance.
He hath broken me down on every side, and I am gone; and my hope hath He plucked up like a tree.
11 Il a déployé contre moi une colère terrible; il m'a regardé comme un ennemi.
He hath also kindled His wrath against me, and He counteth me unto Him as one of His adversaries.
12 Ses épreuves me sont venues toutes ensemble; ses embuscades étaient placées sur toutes mes voies.
His troops come on together, and cast up their way against me, and encamp round about my tent.
13 Mes frères se sont éloignés; ils m'ont préféré des inconnus; mes amis n'ont eu aucune compassion.
He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are wholly estranged from me.
14 Mes plus proches m'ont laissé sans soins; et ceux qui savaient mon nom l'ont oublié.
My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
15 Mes voisins, les servantes de ma maison; je suis un étranger pour eux.
They that dwell in my house, and my maids, count me for a stranger; I am become an alien in their sight.
16 J'ai appelé mon serviteur, il n'est point venu; ma bouche est devenue suppliante.
I call unto my servant, and he giveth me no answer, though I entreat him with my mouth.
17 J'ai imploré ma femme, j'ai demandé les fils de mes concubines en les flattant,
My breath is abhorred of my wife, and I am loathsome to the children of my tribe.
18 Ils m'ont répudié pour toujours; si je me relève, ils se récrient contre moi.
Even urchins despised me; if I arise, they speak against me.
19 J'ai été pour eux un objet d'horreur pour ceux qui m'ont vu; j'ai pour ennemis ceux que j'avais aimés.
All my intimate friends abhor me; and they whom I loved are turned against me.
20 Mes chairs sous ma peau pourrissent, mes os sont entre les dents qui les rongent.
My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
21 Ayez pitié de moi, ayez pitié de moi, ô mes amis, car c'est la main du Seigneur qui m'a touché.
Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
22 Pourquoi me poursuivez-vous comme me poursuit le Seigneur? Voulez-vous vous repaître de ma chair?
Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
23 Qui donc écrira mes plaintes pour les déposer en un livre impérissable?
Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!
24 Qui les gravera au burin sur la pierre ou le plomb?
That with an iron pen and lead they were graven in the rock for ever!
25 Car je sais que de toute éternité existe celui qui doit me délivrer, et sur la terre
But as for me, I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He will witness at the last upon the dust;
26 Faire revivre ma peau pour que je jouisse de ces choses...car c'est le Seigneur qui a fait ces choses
And when after my skin this is destroyed, then without my flesh shall I see God;
27 Qu'en moi-même je sais; que mon œil a vues, et non l'œil d'autrui; et qui déjà sont accomplies en mon sein.
Whom I, even I, shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another's. My reins are consumed within me.
28 Et si vous dites: Quel langage tiendrons-nous devant lui? quel sujet de discours trouverons-nous en sa personne?
If ye say: 'How we will persecute him!' seeing that the root of the matter is found in me;
29 Prenez garde aux choses cachées; songez que la colère tombera aussi sur les méchants; et alors ils sentiront où est la matière dont ils sont formés.
Be ye afraid of the sword; for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
