Jérémie 8
1 En ce temps-là, dit le Seigneur, on retirera de leurs sépulcres les os des rois de Juda, les os de ses princes, les os des prêtres, les os des prophètes, et les os des habitants de Jérusalem.
In that tyme, seith the Lord, thei schulen caste out the boonys of the kingis of Juda, and the boonys of princes therof, and the boonys of prestis, and the boonys of profetis, and the boonys of hem that dwelliden in Jerusalem fro her sepulcris;
2 Et on les étalera pour qu'ils sèchent aux rayons du soleil, de la lune, de toutes les étoiles, et de toute l'armée céleste que ces hommes avaient aimés, qu'ils avaient servis, après lesquels ils avaient couru, auxquels ils s'étaient attachés et qu'ils avaient adorés. Et ces hommes, on ne pleurera plus sur eux, ils ne seront pas ensevelis et ils seront en exemple sur la face de la terre;
and thei schulen leie abrood tho boonys to the sunne, and moone, and to al the knyythod of heuene, which thei louyden, and which thei seruyden, and aftir whiche thei yeden, and whiche thei souyten, and worschipiden; tho schulen not be gaderid, and schulen not be biried; tho schulen be in to a dunghil on the face of erthe.
3 Parce qu'ils ont préféré la mort à la vie, et ceux qui seront restés de cette race, en quelque lieu que ce soit, je les expulserai.
And alle men schulen cheese deth more than lijf, whiche ben left of this worst kynrede, in alle places that ben left, to whiche places Y castide hem out, seith the Lord of oostis.
4 Car voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Celui qui tombe ne se relève-t-il pas, et celui qui s'est détourné du chemin n'y revient-il pas?
And thou schalt seie to hem, The Lord seith these thingis, Whether he that schal falle, schal not rise ayen? and whether he that is turned awei, schal not turne ayen?
5 Pourquoi donc mon peuple a-t-il dévié sans pudeur? pourquoi s'est-il opiniâtré dans son mauvais choix, et a-t-il refusé de se convertir?
Whi therfor is this puple in Jerusalem turned awei bi turnyng awei ful of strijf? Thei han take leesyng, and nolden turne ayen.
6 Maintenant prêtez l'oreille et écoutez: Nul ne se repent de sa méchanceté; en est-il qui diront: Qu'ai-je fait? Ils courent jusqu'à tomber dans leur course, comme un cheval trempé de sueur qui ne peut plus hennir.
Y perseyuede, and herknede; no man spekith that that is good, noon is that doith penaunce for his synne, and seith, What haue Y do? Alle ben turnede togidere to her cours, as an hors goynge bi fersnesse to batel.
7 La grue dans le ciel connaît sa saison; la tourterelle, l'hirondelle des champs et le passereau observent le moment où ils couvent; mais mon peuple n'a pas connu les jugements du Seigneur.
A kite in the eir knew his tyme; a turtle, and a swalewe, and a siconye, kepten the tyme of her comyng; but my puple knew not the doom of the Lord.
8 Comment direz-vous: Nous sommes sages, et la loi du Seigneur est avec nous? La plume menteuse de vos scribes écrit des erreurs;
Hou seien ye, We ben wise men, and the lawe of the Lord is with vs? Verili the fals writyng of scribis wrouyte leesyng.
9 Vos sages ont été confondus, et ils ont tremblé, et ils ont été pris, parce qu'ils ont rejeté la loi du Seigneur; quelle sagesse y a-t-il donc en eux?
Wise men ben schent, ben maad aferd and takun. For thei castiden awei the word of the Lord, and no wisdom is in hem.
10 A cause de cela, je donnerai leurs femmes à d'autres, et leurs champs à des héritiers étrangers,
Therfor Y schal yyue the wymmen of hem to straungeris, and the feeldis of hem to alien eiris; for fro the leeste `til to the mooste alle suen aueryce, fro a profete `til to the preest alle maken leesyng;
11 Qui en recueilleront les fruits, dit le Seigneur; il n'y aura pas de raisins dans leurs vignes, pas de figues sur leurs figuiers, et les feuilles en tomberont.
and thei heeliden the sorowe of the douytir of my puple to schenschipe, seiynge, Pees, pees, whanne no pees was.
12 Qui en recueilleront les fruits, dit le Seigneur; il n'y aura pas de raisins dans leurs vignes, pas de figues sur leurs figuiers, et les feuilles en tomberont.
Thei ben schent, for thei diden abhomynacioun; yhe, rather thei weren not schent bi schenschipe, and kouden not be aschamed. Therfor thei schulen falle among falleris, in the tyme of her visitacioun thei schulen falle, seith the Lord.
13 Qui en recueilleront les fruits, dit le Seigneur; il n'y aura pas de raisins dans leurs vignes, pas de figues sur leurs figuiers, et les feuilles en tomberont.
I gaderynge schal gadere hem, seith the Lord; no grape is in the vynes, and figis ben not in the fige tre; a leef felle doun, and Y yaf to hem tho thingis that ben go out ouer.
14 Pourquoi demeurons-nous en repos? Rassemblons-nous, et retirons-nous dans nos places fortes, et là soyons comme des rebuts, puisque le Seigneur nous a rejetés, et qu'il nous a abreuvés d'eau mêlée de fiel en punition de nos péchés envers lui.
Whi sitten we? come ye togidere, entre we in to a strong citee, and be we stille there; for oure Lord hath maad vs to be stille, and yaf to vs drynk the watir of galle; for we han synned to the Lord.
15 Nous nous attendions à la paix, et il ne nous est venu rien de bon; à la guérison, et voilà que c'était la souffrance.
We abididen pees, and no good was; we abididen tyme of medicyn, and lo! drede is.
16 De Dan nous entendons le bruit de leur cavalerie rapide; toute la terre a tremblé au bruit des hennissements de ses chevaux; elle viendra, elle dévorera la terre et ses richesses, la ville et ses habitants;
Gnastyng of horsis therof is herd fro Dan; al the lond is moued of the vois of neiyngis of hise werriours; and thei camen, and deuouriden the lond, and the plente therof, the citee, and the dwelleris therof.
17 Car voilà que je vous envoie des serpents mortels contre lesquels il n'est point de charmes, et ils vous mordront,
For lo! Y schal sende to you the werste serpentis, to whiche is no charmyng; and thei schulen bite you, seith the Lord.
18 Sans qu'il y ait de remède, et vous aurez en outre les douleurs de vos cœurs défaillants.
My sorewe is on sorewe, myn herte is mourenynge in me.
19 J'entends les cris que jette, en une terre lointaine, la fille de mon peuple: Est-ce que le Seigneur n'est pas à Sion? est-ce qu'en Sion il n'y a plus de roi? Non, parce qu'ils m'ont exaspéré avec leurs idoles et leurs dieux étrangers.
And lo! the vois of cry of the douyter of my puple cometh fro a fer lond. Whether the Lord is not in Sion, ethir the kyng therof is not therynne? Whi therfor stiriden thei me to wrathfulnesse bi her grauun ymagis, and bi alien vanytees?
20 L'été est passé, la moisson est finie, et nous ne sommes point sauvés.
Heruest is passid, somer is endid; and we ben not sauyd.
21 En mon angoisse, j'ai pris des vêtements de deuil en voyant l'affliction de la fille de mon peuple; j'ai été accablé de douleurs telles que celles de l'enfantement.
Y am turmentid, and sori on the sorewe of the douyter of my puple; astonying helde me.
22 N'y a-t-il plus de baume en Galaad? n'y a-t-il plus de médecin? D'où vient que la fille de mon peuple n'est point encore guérie?
Whether resyn is not in Galaad, ether a leche is not there? Whi therfor the wounde of the douytir of my puple is not heelid perfitli?
