Jérémie 24

1 Le Seigneur me montra deux corbeilles de figues posées devant la façade du temple du Seigneur, après que Nabuchodonosor eut enlevé Jéchonias, fils de Joakim, roi de Juda, et les princes, et les artisans, et les prisonniers, et les riches de Jérusalem, et qu'il les eut emmenés à Babylone.

Jehovah showed me this vision. Behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of Jehovah. This was after Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had carried away captive Jeconiah, the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, and the artificers, and the smiths, from Jerusalem, and had led them to Babylon.

2 L'une de ces corbeilles contenait de très bonnes figues, comme celles de la primeur; et l'autre de très mauvaises figues qu'on ne pouvait manger, tant elles étaient mauvaises.

One of the baskets contained very good figs, like those which are first ripe. The other contained very bad figs, so bad that they could not be eaten.

3 Et le Seigneur me dit: Jérémie, que vois-tu? Et je répondis: Des figues; des figues bonnes, très bonnes, et d'autres mauvaises, très mauvaises, qu'on ne peut manger, tant elles sont mauvaises.

And Jehovah said to me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said: Figs; the good figs, exceedingly good; and the bad, exceedingly bad, so bad that they cannot be eaten.

4 Et la parole du Seigneur vint à moi, disant:

Then came the word of Jehovah to me, saying:

5 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël: Comme les bonnes figues, je reconnaîtrai les Juifs emmenés en captivité, que j'ai expulsés de ce lieu et envoyés en Chaldée, je les traiterai bien.

Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: As these good figs, so will I regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of Chaldaea for their good;

6 Et j'attacherai sur eux mes regards pour leur bien, et je les rétablirai pour leur bien dans cette terre, et je les réédifierai pour ne plus les abattre, et je les replanterai pour ne plus les arracher.

yea, I will set my eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land; and I will build them up, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

7 Et je leur donnerai un cœur pour qu'ils me connaissent, pour qu'ils sachent que je suis le Seigneur; et ils seront mon peuple, et je serai leur Dieu, parce qu'ils se seront convertis à moi de toute leur âme.

And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Jehovah; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God; for they shall return to me with their whole heart.

8 Et comme les mauvaises figues qu'on ne peut manger, tant elles sont mauvaises, dit le Seigneur, je livrerai Sédécias, roi de Juda, et ses grands, et le reste de Jérusalem qui est demeuré en cette terre, et ceux qui habitent l'Égypte.

And as the bad figs, which are so bad that they cannot be eaten, saith Jehovah, so will I make Zedekiah, the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, those that are left in this land, and those that dwell in the land of Egypt;

9 Et je les livrerai à la dispersion dans tous les royaumes de la terre, et dans les lieux où je les aurai bannis, et ils seront un sujet d'outrages et de railleries, de haine et de malédiction;

and I will give them up to oppression and affliction in all the kingdoms of the earth; yea, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.

10 Et je leur enverrai la famine, et la peste, et le glaive, jusqu'à ce qu'il n'y en n'ait plus sur cette terre que je leur ai donnée.

And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence among them, till they be consumed from the land, which I gave to them and to their fathers.
