Jérémie 23
1 Maudits soient les pasteurs qui perdent et dispersent les brebis de leur pâturage!
Woe unto the shepherds that destroy and scatter the flocks of my pasture! saith the Lord.
2 A cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur sur les pasteurs de mon peuple: Vous avez dispersé et repoussé mes brebis, et vous ne les avez pas visitées. Et moi je vous punirai de vos méchantes œuvres.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel concerning the shepherds that feed my people, Ye have scattered my flocks, and driven them away, and have not taken care of them: now, behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord.
3 Moi-même je recueillerai les restes de mon peuple sur toute terre où je les ai bannis, et je les rétablirai en leurs pâturages, et ils croîtront et ils se multiplieront.
And I will indeed gather the remnant of my flock together out of all the countries whither I have driven them; and I will bring them back again to their folds: and they shall be fruitful and multiply.
4 Et je susciterai pour eux des pasteurs qui les mèneront paître, et ils n'auront plus peur, et ils ne trembleront plus, dit le Seigneur.
And I will raise up over them shepherds who shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, and none of them shall be missing, saith the Lord.
5 Voilà que les jours arrivent, dit le Seigneur, où je susciterai pour David un soleil de justice, et un roi règnera, et il comprendra, et il rendra justice selon le jugement à toute la terre.
Behold, days are coming, saith the Lord, when I will raise up unto David a righteous sprout, and he shall reign as king, and prosper, and he shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth.
6 De son temps, Juda sera sauvé, et Israël s'abritera dans ses demeures en toute assurance. Et le nom que lui donnera le Seigneur sera Josédec, parmi les prophètes.
In his days shall Judah be helped, and Israel shall dwell in safety: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord is our righteousness.
7 A cause de cela, voilà que les jours approchent, dit le Seigneur, où ils ne diront plus: Vive le Seigneur, qui a tiré la maison d'Israël de la terre d'Égypte!
Therefore, behold, days are coming, saith the Lord, when they shall no more say, As the Lord liveth, who hath brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
8 Mais: Vive le Seigneur, qui a rassemblé toute la race d'Israël, et l'a ramenée de la terre du nord et de toutes les contrées où il les avait bannis, et qui les a rétablis dans leur héritage!
But, As the Lord liveth, who hath brought up and who hath led forth the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and out of all countries whither I had driven them: and they shall dwell in their own land.
9 Parmi les prophètes, je suis celui au cœur brisé; tous mes os ont été ébranlés; je suis devenu comme un homme meurtri ou comme un homme pris de vin, à la vue du Seigneur et de la magnificence de sa gloire.
To the prophets—Broken is my heart within me; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a person whom wine hath overcome, because of the Lord, and because of his holy words.
10 Devant sa face, la terre est en deuil, et les pâturages du désert sont desséchés; et la course de ces hommes est devenue mauvaise, et leur force pareillement.
For of adulterers is the land full; for because of false swearing mourneth the land, dried up are the pastures in the wilderness; because their course was for evil, and their strength was for injustice.
11 Le prêtre et le prophète se sont souillés; jusque dans mon temple j'ai vu leur corruption.
For both prophet and priest are hypocrites: yea, in my own house have I found their wickedness, saith the Lord.
12 A cause de cela, que leur voie soit glissante et sombre, et ils y trébucheront, et ils y tomberont; car j'amènerai sur eux des maux en l'année où je les visiterai.
Therefore shall their way be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness; they shall be pushed forward, and fall thereon; for I will bring upon them evil, the year of their punishment, saith the Lord.
13 Et les prophètes de Samarie, j'ai vu en eux des iniquités; ils ont prophétisé par Baal, et ils ont égaré mon peuple d'Israël.
And on the prophets of Samaria have I seen absurdity: they prophesied by Ba'al, and misled my people Israel.
14 Et les prophètes de Jérusalem, j'ai vu en eux des choses horribles; adultères, cheminant dans le mensonge, prenant de toutes mains pour ne point détourner les méchants de leurs voies, ils ont tous été pour moi comme Sodome, et les habitants de Jérusalem comme Gomorrhe.
But on the prophets of Jerusalem have I seen a horrible thing; they commit adultery, and walk in falsehood; and they strengthen the hands of evil-doers, so that not one of these doth return from his wickedness: they are become unto me all of them as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.
15 A cause de cela, ainsi dit le Seigneur: Voilà que je vais les nourrir de douleurs, et je les abreuverai d'eau saumâtre, parce que des prophètes de Jérusalem est sortie la souillure de toute la terre.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets, Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poison-water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem is hypocrisy gone forth over all the land.
16 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur tout-puissant: N'écoutez point les discours des prophètes, parce qu'ils ont des visions vaines; ils parlent selon leur cœur, et non selon la bouche de Dieu.
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you, they bring you unto vanity: a vision of their own heart do they ever speak, not out of the mouth of the Lord.
17 Ils disent à ceux qui rejettent la parole du Seigneur: La paix sera avec vous; et à ceux qui courent après leurs désirs et après les égarements de leurs cœurs: Il ne vous arrivera rien de mal.
They say indeed unto those that incense me, The Lord hath spoken, Peace shall ye have; and unto every one that walketh in the stubbornness of his own heart, they said, There shall come no evil upon you.
18 Car qui a assisté au conseil du Seigneur? qui a vu sa parole? qui l'a entendue de ses oreilles?
For who hath stood in the secret counsel of the Lord, that he could perceive and hear his word? who hath listened to his word and heard it?
19 Voilà un tremblement de terre venu du Seigneur, et sa colère produit ce tremblement; elle viendra frapper les impies.
Behold, the storm-wind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, yea, a whirling storm: upon the head of the wicked shall it fall grievously.
20 Et la colère du Seigneur ne se détournera plus qu'elle n'ait accompli toutes les résolutions de son cœur; et à la fin des jours ils comprendront.
The anger of the Lord will not return, until he have executed, and until he have fulfilled the purposes of his heart: in the end of days shall ye understand this fully.
21 Je n'ai point envoyé ces prophètes, et ils ont couru d'eux-mêmes; je ne leur ai rien dit, et d'eux-mêmes ils ont prophétisé.
I had not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I had not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
22 Et s'ils avaient assisté à mon conseil, s'ils avaient entendu mes paroles, je les aurais corrigés, et corrigé mon peuple de ses mauvaises inclinations.
But if they had stood in my secret counsel, they should have announced my words to my people, and have caused them to turn back from their evil way, and from the wrongfulness of their doings.
23 Je suis Dieu de près, dit le Seigneur; ne suis-je pas aussi Dieu de loin?
Am I a God for those near at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God for those who are afar off?
24 Qui se cachera dans le secret, sans que je le découvre? Est-ce que je ne remplis pas le ciel et la terre? dit le Seigneur.
If a man should hide himself in secret places should I not then see him? saith the Lord. Do I not fill the heavens and the earth? saith the Lord.
25 J'ai entendu ce que disent les prophètes, ce qu'ils prophétisent en mon nom; ils mentent quand ils disent: J'ai eu un songe.
I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy falsely in my name, saying, I have dreamt, I have dreamt.
26 Jusques à quand en sera-t-il ainsi du cœur de ces prophètes, qui prophétisent le mensonge, en prophétisant les séductions de leur cœur?
How long shall it be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy falsehood? yea, the prophets of the deceit of their own heart, —
27 Ils s'imaginent faire oublier ma loi par des songes que chacun se raconte, comme d'autres ont fait oublier mon nom à leurs pères à cause de Baal?
[How long] do they think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they relate every man to his neighbor, as their fathers forgot my name for the sake of Ba'al?
28 Que le prophète qui a eu un songe le raconte; que celui à qui est venue ma parole annonce selon la vérité. Qu'est-ce que la paille auprès du grain? Ainsi en est-il de mes paroles, dit le Seigneur.
The prophet that hath had a dream, let him relate his dream; and he that hath received my word, let him speak my word of truth. What hath the straw to do with the corn? saith the Lord.
29 Mes paroles ne sont-elles pas comme le feu, dit le Seigneur, ou comme la hache qui fend un rocher?
Is not thus my word, like the fire? saith the Lord, and like a hammer that shivereth the rock?
30 Voilà pourquoi je suis contre les prophètes, dit le Seigneur Dieu, qui dérobent mes paroles à leurs frères.
Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that steal my words every one from his neighbor.
31 Voilà pourquoi je suis contre les prophètes qui prophétisent de la langue et disent les rêves de leur sommeil.
Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that use their own word, and say, [The Lord] saith.
32 Voilà pourquoi je suis contre les prophètes qui prophétisent d'après des songes trompeurs et les racontent, et qui ont égaré mon peuple par leurs mensonges et leurs erreurs; et je ne les avais pas envoyés, et je ne leur avais rien prescrit, et ils ne seront d'aucun secours à ce peuple.
Behold, I am against those that prophesy with false dreams, saith the Lord, and do relate them, and mislead my people by their falsehoods, and by their vain boasting: while I have not sent them, nor commanded them; and they cannot bring the least profit to this people, saith the Lord.
33 Et si ce peuple, ou le prêtre, ou le prophète demandent quel est le fardeau du Seigneur, dis-leur: Vous êtes ce fardeau, et je vous briserai, dit le Seigneur.
And if this people, or the prophet, or a priest, should ask thee, saying, What is the message of the Lord? then shalt thou say unto them, Because of this “What is the message?” will I even cast you off, saith the Lord.
34 Si le prophète ou quelqu'un des prêtres ou du peuple se sert de ce mot: Le fardeau du Seigneur, je punirai cet homme et sa maison.
And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that will say, “A message of the Lord,” I will even inflict punishment on that man and on his house.
35 Voici ce que vous direz chacun à votre ami, chacun à votre frère: Qu'a dit le Seigneur? quelle est la parole du Seigneur?
Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbor, and every one to his brother, What hath the Lord answered? and, What hath the Lord spoken?
36 Mais ne prononcez plus ce mot: Le fardeau du Seigneur; car c'est votre parole qui sera un fardeau pour lui.
But “A message of the Lord” shall ye not mention any more; for the message cometh indeed to the man of his [prophetic] word; but ye pervert the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God.
37 C'est pourquoi il faut dire: Le Seigneur Dieu nous a-t-il parlé?
Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the Lord answered thee? and, What hath the Lord spoken?
38 Voici donc ce que dit le Seigneur notre Dieu: En punition de ce que vous avez prononcé ce mot: Fardeau du Seigneur, après que j'eus envoyé vers vous, et que je vous eus fait dire: Ne dites plus: Le fardeau du Seigneur;
But if ye will say, “A message of the Lord,” then thus saith the Lord, Because ye say this word, “A message of the Lord,” and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, “A message of the Lord:”
39 A cause de cela, voilà que moi je vous prends et vous brise, vous et cette ville, que j'ai donnée à vous et à vos pères.
Therefore, behold, I am here, and I will tear you completely away, and I will cast you off, and the city that I have given to you and to your fathers, out of my presence;
40 Et je vous marquerai d'un éternel opprobre, d'une honte éternelle qui ne sera jamais oubliée.
And I will lay upon you an everlasting disgrace, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.
