Jérémie 14
1 Et la parole du Seigneur vint à Jérémie au sujet de la sécheresse.
The worde of the Lord that came vnto Ieremiah, concerning the dearth.
2 La Judée a pleuré, et ses portes sont solitaires, et la terre est pleine de ténèbres, et un cri s'est élevé en Jérusalem.
Iudah hath mourned, and the gates thereof are desolate, they haue bene brought to heauinesse vnto the grounde, and the cry of Ierusalem goeth vp.
3 Et les plus grands ont envoyé les plus petits puiser de l'eau. Ceux-ci sont allés aux puits; mais ils n'ont point trouvé d'eau, et ils sont revenus les cruches vides.
And their nobles haue sent their inferiours to the water, who came to the welles, and founde no water: they returned with their vessels empty: they were ashamed and confounded, and couered their heads.
4 Et les travaux de la terre ont péri, parce qu'il ne pleuvait pas; les laboureurs ont été confondus, et ils se sont voilé la tête;
For the grounde was destroyed, because there was no rayne in the earth: the plowmen were ashamed, and couered their heads.
5 Et les biches ont mis bas dans la plaine, et elles ont abandonné leurs faons, parce qu'il n'y avait point d'herbe.
Yea, the hinde also calued in the fielde, and forsooke it, because there was no grasse.
6 Les ânes sauvages se sont arrêtés dans les vallons ombragés, et ils ont aspiré l'air; leurs yeux ont défailli, parce qu'il n'y avait point de fourrage.
And the wilde asses did stande in the hygh places, and drew in their winde like dragons their eyes did faile, because there was no grasse.
7 Nos péchés se sont élevés contre nous, Seigneur; prenez soin de nous à cause de vous-même; car nos péchés contre vous sont nombreux, c'est contre vous que nous avons péché.
O Lord, though our iniquities testifie against vs, deale with vs according to thy name: for our rebellions are many, we sinned against thee.
8 Seigneur, vous êtes l'espérance d'Israël; c'est vous qui sauvez au temps de l'affliction. Pourquoi êtes-vous devenu à notre égard comme un passager sur la terre, ou comme un indigène allant dans une hôtellerie.
O the hope of Israel, the sauiour thereof in the time of trouble, why art thou as a strager in ye land, as one that passeth by to tary for a night?
9 Serez-vous comme un homme endormi ou comme un homme impuissant à sauver? Vous êtes avec nous, Seigneur, et votre nom est le nom qui nous est donné; ne nous oubliez plus.
Why art thou as a man astonied, and as a strong man that cannot helpe? yet thou, O Lord, art in the middes of vs, and thy Name is called vpon vs: forsake vs not.
10 Ainsi dit le Seigneur à ce peuple: Ils ont aimé à remuer leurs pieds, et ils n'y ont pas mis de mesure, et Dieu ne les a pas fait prospérer; maintenant il va se souvenir de leurs iniquités.
Thus saith the Lord vnto this people, Thus haue they delited to wander: they haue not refrained their feete, therefore the Lord hath no delight in them: but he will now remember their iniquitie, and visite their sinnes.
11 Et le Seigneur me dit: Ne me prie pas en faveur de ce peuple pour le bénir.
Then sayd the Lord vnto me, Thou shalt not pray to do this people good.
12 Car lors même qu'ils jeûneraient, je n'exaucerai point leur prière; et s'ils m'offrent des holocaustes et des victimes, je ne les agréerai point. Car moi, je les exterminerai par le glaive, la famine et la mort.
When they fast, I will not heare their cry, and when they offer burnt offering, and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sworde, and by the famine and by the pestilence.
13 Et je répondis: O vous, Seigneur vivant, voilà que leurs prophètes prophétisent, et disent: Vous ne verrez pas de glaive; il n'y aura pas de famine parmi vous; car je donnerai à cette terre et à ce lieu la vérité et la paix.
Then answered I, Ah Lord God, beholde, the prophets say vnto them, Ye shall not see the sworde, neither shall famine come vpon you, but I wil giue you assured peace in this place.
14 Et le Seigneur me dit: Leurs prophètes prophétisent faussement en mon nom; je ne les ai point envoyés; je ne leur ai rien commandé; je ne leur ai rien dit. Ils vous prophétisent d'après des visions mensongères, des augures, des présages, des caprices de leur cœur.
Then the Lord said vnto me, The prophets prophecie lyes in my Name: I haue not sent them, neither did I command them, neither spake I vnto them, but they prophecie vnto you a false vision, and diuination, and vanitie, and deceitfulnes of their owne heart.
15 À cause de cela, dit le Seigneur, et pour ce qui regarde les prophètes qui prophétisent faussement en mon nom, et que je n'ai point envoyés, et qui disent: Il n'y aura en cette terre ni glaive ni famine, ces prophètes mourront d'une maladie cruelle, et ils seront consumés par la faim,
Therefore thus saith the Lord, Concerning the prophets that prophecie in my Name, whom I haue not sent, yet they say, Sworde and famine shall not be in this land, by sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
16 Et le peuple pour qui ils prophétisent, gisant dans les rues de Jérusalem, périra par le glaive ou la famine; et nul n'ensevelira les morts, ni leurs femmes, ni leurs fils, ni leurs filles, et je ferai refluer sur eux leur propre méchanceté.
And the people to whome these prophets doe prophecie, shalbe cast out in the streetes of Ierusalem, because of the famine, and the sword, and there shall be none to bury them, both they, and their wiues, and their sonnes, and their daughters: for I wil powre their wickednes vpon them.
17 Et tu leur diras cette parole: Que vos yeux versent des larmes nuit et jour, et que vos pleurs ne s'arrêtent pas; car la fille de mon peuple a été écrasée et broyée, et sa blessure est pleine de douleurs.
Therefore thou shalt say this worde vnto them, Let mine eyes drop downe teares night and day without ceasing: for the virgine daughter of my people is destroyed with a great destruction, and with a sore grieuous plague.
18 Si je sors dans la plaine, voilà des cadavres frappés par le glaive; si je rentre dans la ville, voilà les horreurs de la famine, et le prêtre et le prophète sont allés en une terre qu'ils ne connaissaient pas.
For if I go into the field, behold the slaine with the sworde: and if I enter into the citie, behold them that are sicke for hunger also: moreouer the Prophet also and the Priest go a wandring into a land that they know not.
19 Est-ce que vous avez répudié Juda; et votre âme s'est-elle éloignée de Sion? Pourquoi nous avez-vous frappés, et n'y a-t-il pas pour nous de remède? Nous attendions la paix, et il n'est rien venu d'heureux; la guérison, et voilà le trouble.
Hast thou vtterly reiected Iudah, or hath thy soule abhorred Zion? why hast thou smitten vs, that we cannot be healed? Wee looked for peace, and there is no good, and for the time of health, and behold trouble.
20 Nous reconnaissons nos péchés et les iniquités de nos pères; car c'est contre vous que nous avons péché.
We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickednesse and the iniquitie of our fathers: for we haue sinned against thee.
21 Cessez, en faveur de votre nom, de détruire le trône de votre gloire; souvenez-vous et ne rompez point votre alliance avec nous.
Doe not abhorre vs: for thy Names sake cast not downe the throne of thy glory: remember and breake not thy couenant with vs.
22 Y a-t-il une seule idole des nations qui fasse tomber la pluie? Et si le ciel nous accorde ses largesses, n'est-ce point par vous? Aussi nous espérons en vous, Seigneur; car c'est vous qui avez fait toutes ces choses.
Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles, that can giue raine? or can the heauens giue showres? is it not thou, O Lord our God? therefore we will waite vpon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
