Isaïe 55

1 Vous qui êtes altérés, venez à l'eau; vous qui n'avez point d'argent, allez et achetez; sans argent et sans échange, nourrissez-vous de graisse et de vin.

Ho, every one of ye that thirsteth, come ye to the water, and he too that hath no money: come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy without money and without price wine and milk.

2 Pourquoi faites-vous cas de l'argent et vous fatiguez-vous pour ce qui ne rassasie pas? Écoutez-moi, et vous mangerez ce qui est vraiment bon; et votre âme se délectera des vrais biens.

Wherefore will ye spend money for what is not bread? and your labor for what satisfieth not? hearken then unto me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

3 Prêtez-moi des oreilles attentives, et suivez mes voies; écoutez-moi, et votre âme vivra des vrais biens, et je ferai avec vous une alliance éternelle, et les promesses faites à David seront vérifiées.

Incline your ear, and come unto me, hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the promised mercies of David, which are sure.

4 Voilà que j'ai donné aux nations un témoignage; c'est lui, le prince, le maître des Gentils.

Behold, for a lawgiver unto the people have I appointed him, a prince and commander to the people.

5 Des nations qui ne te connaissaient pas t'invoqueront, et des peuples à qui tu étais inconnu se réfugieront auprès de toi, à cause du Seigneur ton Dieu, le Saint d'Israël, parce qu'il t'aura glorifié.

Behold, a nation thou knowest not shalt thou call, and a nation that knew thee not shall run unto thee; for the sake of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel, for he hath glorified thee.

6 Cherchez le Seigneur, et, quand vous l'aurez trouvé, invoquez-le. Et lorsqu'il sera près de vous,

Seek ye the Lord, while he may be found, call ye on him, while he is near.

7 Que l'impie quitte ses voies, et le prévaricateur ses conseils; qu'il se convertisse au Seigneur, et il lui sera fait miséricorde, parce qu'il vous remettra beaucoup de péchés.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the man of unrighteousness his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and unto our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

8 Car mes conseils ne sont pas comme vos conseils, ni mes voies comme vos voies, dit le Seigneur.

For not my thoughts are your thoughts, and not your ways are my ways, saith the Lord.

9 Mais autant le ciel est loin de la terre, autant ma voie est loin de vos voies, et vos pensées, loin de ma pensée.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts.

10 Car telle la pluie ou la neige descend du ciel et n'y retournera point avant d'avoir abreuvé la terre et humecté les champs; avant d'avoir produit des graines pour le semeur, et donné du pain pour sa nourriture;

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither, but water the earth, and render it fruitful, and cause it to bring forth plants; and give seed to the sower and bread to him that eateth:

11 Telle sera ma parole; toute parole qui sortira de ma bouche ne reviendra point à moi que mes volontés ne soient accomplies; et je ferai prospérer tes voies, et mes ordres auront leur effet.

So shall ever be my word which goeth forth from my mouth, it shall not return unto me without effect; but it accomplisheth what I desire, and it prospereth in that whereto I have sent it.

12 Car vous sortirez pleins d'allégresse, et vous serez enseignés dans la joie. Les montagnes et les collines bondiront de joie pour votre bienvenue, et les arbres de la plaine vous applaudiront du bruit de leurs rameaux.

For in joy shall ye go out, and in peace shall ye be brought home: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into song, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

13 Où croissaient la mousse et les épines, s'élèveront le myrte et le cyprès. Et le nom du Seigneur sera proclamé, et ce sera un signe éternel, et il ne disparaîtra jamais.

Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir-tree, and instead of the nettle shall come up the myrtle; and it shall be unto the Lord for a name, for a sign of everlasting that shall not be cut off.
