Isaïe 51
1 Pour vous, écoutez-moi, vous qui suivez la justice et qui cherchez le Seigneur. Regardez la roche solide que vous avez taillée, et le fond de la source que vous avez creusée.
Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, and seek the Lord: look to the solid rock, which ye have hewn, and to the hole of the pit which ye have dug.
2 Regardez Abraham votre père, et Sara qui vous a enfantés dans la douleur; car il était unique, et je l'ai appelé, je l'ai béni, je l'ai chéri et multiplié.
Look to Abraam your father, and to Sarrha that bore you: for he was alone when I called him, and blessed him, and loved him, and multiplied him.
3 De même, je vais maintenant te consoler, ô Sion; j'ai déjà consolé toutes ses solitudes, je changerai ses déserts en jardins, et ceux qui s'étendent au couchant seront comme le paradis du Seigneur; en elle on trouvera joie et allégresse, actions de grâces et paroles de louanges.
And now I will comfort thee, O Sion: and I have comforted all her desert places; and I will make her desert places as a garden, and her western places as the garden of the Lord; they shall find in her gladness and exultation, thanksgiving and the voice of praise.
4 Écoutez-moi, mon peuple, écoutez-moi, et vous, rois, prêtez-moi une oreille attentive; car la loi sortira de moi, et ma justice sera la lumière des nations.
Hear me, hear me, my people; and ye kings, hearken to me: for a law shall proceed from me, and my judgment [shall be] for a light of the nations.
5 Elle est proche ma justice, et mon salut va se lever comme une lumière; et les Gentils espèreront en mon bras; les îles m'attendront et elles espèreront aussi en mon bras.
My righteousness speedily draws nigh, and my salvation shall go forth as light, and on mine arm shall the Gentiles trust: the isles shall wait for me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
6 Levez les yeux au ciel, et regardez au-dessous la terre; le ciel n'est pas plus solide que la fumée, la terre vieillira comme un manteau, et comme eux mourront ceux qui l'habitent; mais mon salut subsistera durant tous les siècles, et ma justice ne défaillira point.
Lift up your eyes to the sky, and look on the earth beneath: for the sky was darkened like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and the inhabitants shall die in like manner: but my righteousness shall not fail.
7 Écoutez-moi, vous qui connaissez le jugement, et vous, mon peuple, qui conservez ma loi dans votre cœur. Ne craignez pas les outrages des hommes; ne soyez pas abattus par leur mépris;
Hear me, ye that know judgment, the people in whose heart is my law: fear not the reproach of men, and be not overcome by their contempt.
8 Car ils seront consumés comme un manteau par l'effet du temps; ils seront rongés des vers comme de la laine; mais ma justice subsistera dans tous les siècles, et mon salut durant les générations des générations.
For as a garment will be devoured by time, and as wool will be devoured by a moth, [so shall they be consumed]; but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation for all generations.
9 Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, Jérusalem, arme de force ton bras; réveille- toi comme au commencement des jours, comme les antiques générations. N'es-tu pas
Awake, awake, O Jerusalem, and put on the strength of thine arm; awake as in the early time, as the ancient generation.
10 Celle qui a desséché la mer et la plénitude des eaux de l'abîme? N'as-tu pas fait du fond de la mer une voie pour le passage de mon peuple délivré
Art thou not it that dried the sea, the water, [even] the abundance of the deep; that made the depths of the sea a way of passage for the delivered and redeemed?
11 Et racheté? Car tes enfants seront ramenés par le Seigneur, et ils reviendront dans Sion pleins d'une joie et d'une allégresse éternelle; ils seront couronnés de louanges et transportés de joie; les douleurs, la tristesse, les gémissements se sont enfuis.
for by [the help of] the Lord they shall return, and come to Sion with joy and everlasting exultation, for praise and joy shall come upon their head: pain, and grief, and groaning, have fled away.
12 C'est moi, c'est moi ton consolateur; sache qui tu es, et si tu devais craindre un homme mortel, un fils de l'homme, qui sèchera comme l'herbe des champs.
I, [even] I, am he that comforts thee: consider who thou art, that thou wast afraid of mortal man, and of the son of man, who are withered as grass.
13 Et tu avais oublié Dieu ton créateur, le créateur du ciel et de la terre; et tous les jours tu avais peur en voyant en face la furie de ton persécuteur! Il a péri comme il avait résolu de te faire périr; et la furie de ton persécuteur, où est-elle à présent?
And thou hast forgotten God who made thee, who made the sky and founded the earth; and thou wert continually afraid because of the wrath of him that afflicted thee: for [whereas] he counselled to take thee away, yet now where is the wrath of him that afflicted thee?
14 Le Seigneur ne s'arrêtera point, il ne mettra point de lenteur à te sauver.
For in thy deliverance he shall not halt, nor tarry;
15 Car je suis ton Dieu; c'est moi qui trouble la mer, et qui fais retentir ses flots. Mon nom est le Seigneur des armées.
for I am thy God, that troubles the sea, and causes the waves thereof to roar: the Lord of hosts is my name.
16 Je mettrai mes paroles en ta bouche; je t'abriterai à l'ombre de ma main, qui a fixé le ciel et affermi la terre, et je dirai à Sion: Tu es mon peuple.
I will put my words into thy mouth, and I will shelter thee under the shadow of mine hand, with which I fixed the sky, and founded the earth: and [the Lord] shall say to Sion, Thou art my people.
17 Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, lève-toi, Jérusalem, qui as bu de la main du Seigneur le calice de sa colère. Car tu as bu, tu as épuisé le calice de la ruine, la grande coupe de la fureur.
Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his fury: for thou hast drunk out and drained the cup of calamity, the cup of wrath:
18 Et de tous les enfants que tu as mis au jour, nul ne t'a consolée; et de tous les fils que tu as élevés, nul ne t'a prise par la main.
and there was none to comfort thee of all the children whom thou borest; and there was none to take hold of thine hand, not even of all the children whom thou has reared.
19 Quand ces choses fondront sur toi, qui partagera ta tristesse? Quand il y aura ruine et désolation, famine et coups de glaive, qui te consolera?
Wherefore these things are against thee; who shall sympathize with thee in thy grief? downfall, and destruction, famine, and sword: who shall comfort thee?
20 Tes fils ont été pressés par la détresse, couchés au bout de chaque rue, comme une blette à demi cuite, pleins de la colère du Seigneur, énervés par le Seigneur Dieu.
Thy sons are the perplexed ones, that sleep at the top of every street as a half-boiled beet; they that are full of the anger of the Lord, caused to faint by the Lord God.
21 C'est pourquoi, écoute, ô toi qui es humiliée et enivrée, mais non de vin:
Therefore hear, thou afflicted one, and drunken, [but] not with wine;
22 Ainsi dit le Seigneur Dieu, juge de son peuple: Voilà que j'ai ôté de tes mains le calice de la ruine, la grande coupe de ma fureur; tu ne continueras plus d'y boire à l'avenir.
thus saith the Lord God that judges his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of calamity, the cup of my wrath; and thou shalt not drink it any more.
23 Je la mettrai dans les mains de ceux qui t'ont nui injustement, de ceux qui t'ont abaissée, de ceux qui disaient à ton âme: Couche-toi, afin que nous passions; et tu faisais de ton corps un chemin pour ceux qui passaient.
And I will give it into the hands of them that injured thee, and them that afflicted thee; who said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may pass over: and thou didst level thy body with the ground to them passing by without.
