Isaïe 3
1 Voilà que le Dominateur, Dieu des armées, va enlever de la Judée et de Jérusalem le puissant et la puissante, la force du pain et la force de l'eau;
For, behold, the Lord, the Eternal of hosts, doth remove from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, every stay of bread, and every stay of water.
2 Le grand, le fort et l'homme de guerre, le juge, le sage et l'ancien;
The hero, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3 Le chef de cinquante hommes et le conseiller vénérable, l'habile architecte et l'auditeur intelligent.
The captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counsellor, and the skilful artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4 Et je ferai des jeunes gens leurs princes, et des railleurs les gouverneront.
And I will set up boys as their princes, and children shall rule over them.
5 Et le peuple en viendra aux mains, homme contre homme, ami contre ami; l'enfant frappera sur le vieillard, l'infâme sur l'honnête homme.
And so shall the people press man against man, and one against the other: the boy shall demean himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honorable.
6 L'homme prendra son frère ou son proche parent dans la famille de son père, et il lui dira: Tu as un manteau, sois notre prince, et que ma nourriture soit dans ta main.
When a man will seize hold on his brother in the house of his father, [saying, ] Thou hast a garment, thou shalt be our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
7 Et ce jour-là l'antre répondra: Je ne serai pas ton prince, car il n'y a en ma maison ni pain ni manteau; je ne serai pas le prince de ce peuple.
He will swear on that day, saying, I will not be a chief; and in my house is neither bread nor clothing; you shall not appoint me a ruler of the people.
8 Car Jérusalem est ruinée et Juda est tombé; et leurs langues sont avec l'iniquité, et ils n'obéissent point au Seigneur. C'est pourquoi leur gloire est maintenant abaissée,
For Jerusalem is sunk to decay, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against the Lord, to incense the eyes of his glory.
9 Et la confusion de leur visage porte témoignage contre eux; et, comme Sodome, ils ont montré et proclamé leur péché. Malheur à leurs âmes! car ils ont pris une funeste résolution contre eux-mêmes,
The boldness of their face testifieth against them; and like Sodom they tell openly their sin, they conceal it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have prepared evil unto themselves.
10 Disant: Enchaînons le juste, parce qu'il nous est insupportable. Aussi goûteront-ils les fruits de leurs œuvres.
Say ye to the righteous, that he hath done well; for the fruit of their doings shall they eat.
11 Malheur à l'impie! il lui arrivera mal à cause des œuvres de ses mains.
Woe unto the wicked who doeth evil; for the recompense of his hands shall be bestowed on him.
12 Mon peuple, tes exacteurs rapinent, et des usuriers te maîtrisent; mon peuple, ceux qui te déclarent heureux t'égarent, et ils bouleversent le sentier où tu marches.
My people! their oppressors are children, and women rule over them. O my people! thy leaders cause thee to err, and the direction of thy paths they corrupt.
13 Mais maintenant le Seigneur va siéger pour juger, et il entrera en jugement avec son peuple.
The Lord is stepped forth to plead, and standeth up to judge the people.
14 Le Seigneur en personne entrera en jugement avec les anciens et les princes du peuple. Ô vous donc, pourquoi avez-vous mis le feu à ma vigne? pourquoi la dépouille du pauvre est-elle en vos maisons?
The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and their princes; but ye—ye have eaten up the vineyard; the plunder of the poor is in your houses.
15 Pourquoi faites-vous tort à mon peuple? pourquoi couvrez-vous de confusion la face des pauvres?
What mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind down the faces of the poor? saith the Lord the Eternal of hosts.
16 Or voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Parce que les filles de Sion sont altières, et qu'elles ont marché la tête haute, en faisant signe des yeux, et qu'elles ont traîné leurs tuniques du mouvement de leurs pieds, et qu'elles ont eu une démarche étudiée,
And the Lord said, Forasmuch as the daughters of Zion are proud, and walk with stretched forth necks and casting about their eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17 Dieu humiliera dans Sion les filles du premier rang, et le Seigneur les dépouillera de leurs ornements.
Therefore will the Lord smite with leprosy the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will lay open their nakedness.
18 Et ce jour-là le Seigneur détruira la gloire de leur parure, leurs réseaux, leurs tresses et leurs épingles d'or,
On that day will the Lord take away the beauty of their tinkling shoe-buckles, and the hair-nets, and the crescent-shaped ornaments,
19 Et leurs colliers et le fard de leur visage,
The drops, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20 Et l'ensemble de leurs joyaux de gloire, bracelets, anneaux, chaînettes, bagues et pendants d'oreilles,
The bonnets, and the foot-chains, and the head-bands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21 Et leurs franges de pourpre et leurs robes de pourpre,
The finger-rings, and nose-jewels,
22 Et leurs habits de l'intérieur de la maison, et leurs habits transparents de Laconie,
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the shawls, and the pockets.
23 Et leurs robes de fin lin, d'hyacinthe et d'écarlate, et leurs tissus de fin lin, d'or et d'hyacinthe, et leurs longs voiles d'été.
The mirrors, and the chemisettes, and the turbans, and the long vails.
24 Et au lieu de suaves parfums tu te couvriras de cendre; et au lieu de tes rubans tu te ceindras d'une corde; et au lieu d'une tête ornée de bijoux d'or tu auras un crâne chauve, en punition de tes œuvres; et au lieu d'une tunique de pourpre tu te revêtiras d'un cilice.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be corruption; and instead of a girdle a rope; and instead of curled hair baldness; and instead of a wide garment a girding of sackcloth, a mark of burning instead of beauty.
25 Et le fils si beau que tu chéris tombera sous le glaive, et tes forts périront par l'épée.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty ones in the war.
26 Et ils seront humiliés, et les trésors où tu gardais tes bijoux pleureront; et tu resteras seule, et tu seras brisée contre terre.
And then shall her gates lament and mourn; and stript of all shall she sit upon the ground.
