Isaïe 20

1 L'année que Tanathan entra dans Azot, quand il y fut envoyé par Arna, roi des Assyriens, et qui assiégea la ville et s'en empara;

In the year that Tartan entered Ashdod, when Sargon king of Assyria, sent him, —and he fought against Ashdod and captured it, —

2 Le Seigneur parla à Isaïe, fils d'Amos, disant: Pars, et ôte le cilice de tes reins; dénoue les sandales de tes pieds, et fais comme je te dis; voyage nu et déchaussé.

At that time, spake Yahweh, through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, Go, and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, And thy sandal, draw thou off from thy foot, —And he did so, walking disrobed and barefoot.

3 Et le Seigneur dit: Comme mon serviteur Isaïe a voyagé trois ans nu et déchaussé, pour être pendant trois ans un sujet de signes et de prodiges pour les Éthiopiens et les Égyptiens;

Then said Yahweh, —As my servant Isaiah, hath walked, disrobed and barefoot three years as a sign and a wonder against Egypt and against Ethiopia,

4 Ainsi le roi des Assyriens emmènera une foule de captifs de l'Égypte et de l'Éthiopie, jeunes et vieux, nus, déchaussés, laissant à découvert la honte de l'Égypte.

So, shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia young and old disrobed and barefoot, with their persons behind Uncovered the shame of Egypt.

5 Alors les Israélites rougiront à juste titre des Éthiopiens, en qui ils espéraient; car ils avaient mis leur gloire en eux.

Thus shall they be confounded and turn pale, —For Ethiopia, their expectation, and For Egypt their boast;

6 Et en ce jour les habitants de cette terre diront: Voilà que nous avions cru trouver en eux un refuge et un secours, et ils n'ont pu se sauver du roi des Assyriens; comment nous sauverons-nous nous-mêmes?

And the inhabitant of this shore, shall exclaim, in that day, Lo! such, is our expectation, whereunto we fled for help, that we might be delivered from the presence of the king of Assyria! How then shall, we, escape?
