Isaïe 2
1 Parole qui vint à Isaïe, fils d'Amos, sur la Judée et sur Jérusalem.
The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 Aux derniers jours la montagne du Seigneur sera glorieuse; sur la cime des monts apparaîtra la maison de Dieu; elle s'élèvera au-dessus des collines, et tous les Gentils y viendront.
And it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of Jehovah's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow to it.
3 Et maintes nations partiront, disant: Allons et montons à la montagne du Seigneur et à la maison du Dieu de Jacob, et il nous annoncera sa voie, et nous y marcherons; car la loi sortira de Sion, et la parole du Seigneur, de Jérusalem.
And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem.
4 Et il jugera entre les nations, et il réprimandera nombre de peuples. Et de leurs glaives ils forgeront des charrues, et des faux de leurs javelines; et l'on ne tirera plus l'épée nation contre nation, et l'on n'apprendra plus à se faire la guerre.
And he will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples, and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5 Et maintenant venez, maison de Jacob, et marchons à la lumière du Seigneur.
O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of Jehovah.
6 Car il avait abandonné son peuple, la maison d'Israël; parce qu'au commencement leur terre était remplie de devins et d'augures, comme celle des Philistins, et que beaucoup d'enfants leur étaient nés de femmes étrangères
For thou have forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they are filled with things from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines. And they strike hands with the children of foreigners.
7 Leur terre regorgeait d'argent et d'or, et leurs trésors étaient sans nombre. Et leur pays était couvert de chevaux, et l'on ne pouvait compter leurs chars.
And their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures. Their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots.
8 Et la terre était remplie de leurs œuvres d'abomination, faites de leurs mains, et ils adoraient des dieux façonnés de leurs doigts.
Their land is also full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made,
9 Et l'homme se courbait, et le guerrier s'humiliait; non, je ne leur pardonnerai point.
and so the common man bows down, and the great man degrades himself. Therefore do not forgive them.
10 Et maintenant entrez parmi les rochers, et cachez-vous dans la terre devant la crainte du Seigneur, devant sa gloire et sa puissance, lorsqu'il se lèvera pour frapper la terre.
Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty.
11 Car les yeux du Seigneur sont en haut, et l'homme en bas. Et la hauteur des hommes sera abattue, et en ce jour le Seigneur seul sera élevé en gloire.
The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 Le jour du Seigneur des armées sera contre tout homme insolent et superbe, contre tout homme altier et orgueilleux, et ils seront abaissés.
For there shall be a day of Jehovah of hosts upon all that is proud and haughty, and upon all that is lifted up, and it shall be brought low,
13 Ce jour sera contre le grand cèdre du Liban qui s'élève jusqu'au ciel, et contre le palmier de Basan;
and upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,
14 Contre les hautes montagnes et les hautes collines,
and upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,
15 Contre les tours altières et les remparts altiers,
and upon every lofty tower, and upon every fortified wall,
16 Contre tous les vaisseaux de la mer, et contre les plus beaux navires.
and upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant imagery.
17 Et tout homme sera humilié, et l'orgueil des hommes tombera, et en ce jour le Seigneur sera seul élevé en gloire.
And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.
18 Et ils cacheront toutes les idoles, œuvres de leurs mains,
And the idols shall utterly pass away.
19 Les emportant dans les cavernes, dans les fentes des rochers, dans les profondeurs de la terre, devant la crainte du Seigneur, devant sa gloire et sa puissance, lorsqu'il se lèvera pour frapper la terre.
And men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily.
20 Car ce jour-là l'homme rejettera les abominations d'or et d'argent qu'il aura faites pour adorer de vaines idoles et des oiseaux de nuit;
In that day men shall cast away their idols of silver, and their idols of gold, which have been made for them to worship, to the moles and to the bats,
21 En pénétrant dans les creux, dans les cavernes et les fentes des plus durs rochers, devant la crainte du Seigneur, devant sa gloire et sa puissance, quand il se lèvera pour frapper la terre.
to go into the caverns of the rocks, and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from before the terror of Jehovah, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily.
Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils, for how is he to be accounted of?
