Isaïe 19
1 Oracle sur l'Égypte. Voici que le Seigneur s'est assis sur une nuée légère, et il arrivera en Égypte, et les idoles de l'Égypte seront ébranlées devant sa face, et elle faiblira au fond de son cœur.
The burden of Egypt. Lo, Jehovah is riding on a swift thick cloud, And He hath entered Egypt, And moved have been the idols of Egypt at His presence, And the heart of Egypt melteth in its midst.
2 Et les Égyptiens s'élèveront contre les Égyptiens, et le frère combattra le frère, ami contre ami, ville contre ville, nom contre nom.
And I armed Egyptians against Egyptians, And they fought, each against his brother, And each against his neighbour, City against city, kingdom against kingdom.
3 Et l'esprit des Égyptiens sera troublé en eux-mêmes, et je dissiperai leurs conseils; et ils interrogeront leurs dieux, et leurs statues, et ceux qui font sortir leurs voix de la terre, et les magiciens.
And emptied out hath been in its midst the spirit of Egypt. And its counsel I swallow up, And they have sought unto the idols, And unto the charmers, And unto those having familiar spirits, And unto the wizards.
4 Et je livrerai l'Égypte aux mains de maîtres cruels, et des rois cruels y règneront: voilà ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu des armées.
And I have delivered the Egyptians Into the hand of a hard lord, And a strong king doth rule over them, An affirmation of the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts.
5 Et les Égyptiens boiront de l'eau près de la mer; car leur fleuve tarira, et il sera desséché.
And failed have waters from the sea, And a river is wasted and dried up.
6 Et les fleuves tariront et les canaux du fleuve; et tout amas d'eau sera desséché, et tous les marais où croissent le roseau et le papyrus;
And they have turned away the flowings, Weak and dried up have been brooks of the bulwark, Reed and flag have withered.
7 Et le gazon verdoyant au bord du fleuve; et tout ce qui est semé le long du fleuve sera flétri et desséché par le vent.
Exposed things by the brook, by the edge of the brook, And every sown thing of the brook, hath withered, It hath been driven away, and is not.
8 Et les pêcheurs gémiront; et ils gémiront tous ceux qui jettent l'hameçon dans le fleuve; et ceux qui jettent des seines et des filets pleureront.
And lamented have the fishers, And mourned have all casting angle into a brook, And those spreading nets on the face of the waters have languished.
9 Et ceux qui travaillent le lin et le byssus, ou qui font des robes, seront confondus.
And ashamed have been makers of fine flax, And weavers of net-works.
10 Et tous les artisans seront dans la douleur, et ceux Qui font la bière seront attristés, et ils souffriront en leur âme
And its foundations have been smitten, All making wages [are] afflicted in soul.
11 Et les princes de Tanis, sages conseillers du roi, deviendront fous; leur conseil sera folie. Comment pourrez-vous dire au roi: Nous sommes les fils des sages, les fils des anciens rois?
Only, fools [are] the princes of Zoan, The counsel of the wise ones of the counsellors of Pharaoh hath become brutish. How say ye unto Pharaoh, 'A son of the wise am I, a son of kings of antiquity?'
12 Où sont maintenant tes sages? Qu'ils prophétisent, et qu'ils disent: Qu'a résolu contre l'Égypte le Seigneur Dieu des armées?
Where [are] they now, thy wise ones? Yea, let them tell to thee, I pray thee, And they know what Jehovah of Hosts hath counselled against Egypt!
13 Les princes de Tanis ont défailli; ceux de Memphis se sont enorgueillis, et ils ont égaré l'Égypte en toutes ses tribus.
Foolish have been princes of Zoan, Lifted up have been princes of Noph, And they have caused Egypt to err, The chief of her tribes.
14 Car le Seigneur a répandu sur eux un esprit d'erreur, et ils ont égaré l'Égypte en toutes ses œuvres, et ils l'ont fait marcher comme un homme ivre qui vomit.
Jehovah hath mingled in her midst A spirit of perverseness, And they have caused Egypt to err in all its work, As a drunkard erreth in his vomit.
15 Et les Égyptiens ne feront plus rien qui ait une tête et une queue, un commencement et une fin.
And there is no work to Egypt, That head or tail, branch or reed, may do.
16 Et, en ce jour, les Égyptiens seront comme des femmes effrayées et tremblantes sous la main du Seigneur des armées, qu'il fera tomber sur eux.
In that day is Egypt like women, And it hath mourned, and been afraid, Because of the waving of the hand of Jehovah of Hosts, That He is waving over it.
17 Et la terre de la Judée sera pour les Égyptiens un objet de terreur; et quiconque prononcera son nom devant eux les frappera de crainte, à cause des desseins que le Seigneur des armées a formés sur eux-mêmes.
And the land of Judah hath been to Egypt for a cause of staggering, Every one who doth mention it, for himself feareth, Because of the counsel of Jehovah of Hosts, That He is counselling against it.
18 Ce jour-là, il y aura cinq villes d'Égypte qui parleront la langue de Chanaan, et jureront par le Seigneur Dieu des armées. L'une de ces villes s'appellera Asédec.
In that day there are five cities in the land of Egypt, Speaking the lip of Canaan, And swearing to Jehovah of Hosts, 'The city of destruction,' is said of one.
19 Ce jour-là, il y aura sur le territoire d'Égypte un autel du Seigneur, et à sa frontière une colonne élevée au Seigneur.
In that day there is an altar to Jehovah In the midst of the land of Egypt, And a standing pillar near its border to Jehovah,
20 Et ce sera un signe éternel au Seigneur en la terre d'Égypte. Dès lors ils crieront au Seigneur dans leurs tribulations, et il leur enverra un homme pour les sauver; et il les sauvera en les jugeant.
And it hath been for a sign and for a testimony, To Jehovah of Hosts in the land of Egypt, For they cry unto Jehovah from the face of oppressors, And He sendeth to them a saviour, Even a great one, and hath delivered them.
21 Et le Seigneur sera connu des Égyptiens. Et les Égyptiens en ce jour connaîtront le Seigneur, et ils lui sacrifieront des victimes, et ils lui feront des vœux, et ils les accompliront.
And known hath been Jehovah to Egypt, And the Egyptians have known Jehovah in that day, And done sacrifice and present, And vowed a vow to Jehovah, and completed [it].
22 Et le Seigneur frappera d'une plaie les Égyptiens, puis il la guérira; et ils se convertiront au Seigneur, et il les exaucera, et il leur enverra une entière guérison.
And Jehovah hath smitten Egypt, smiting and healing, And they have turned back unto Jehovah, And He hath been entreated of them, And hath healed them.
23 En ce jour, il y aura une voie de l'Égypte à l'Assyrie; et les Assyriens entreront en Égypte; et les Égyptiens iront en Assyrie, et ils seront asservis aux Assyriens.
In that day is a highway out of Egypt to Asshur, And come in have the Assyrians to Egypt, And the Egyptians into Asshur, And the Egyptians have served with the Assyrians.
24 En ce jour, Israël sera la troisième avec les Égyptiens et les Assyriens, et il sera béni sur la terre
In that day is Israel third, After Egypt, and after Asshur, A blessing in the heart of the earth.
25 Que le Seigneur des armées a bénie, disant: Béni soit mon peuple qui est en Égypte et qui est en Assyrie; et béni soit Israël mon héritage!
In that Jehovah of Hosts did bless it, saying, 'Blessed [is] My people — Egypt, And the work of My hands — Asshur, And Mine inheritance — Israel!'
