Osée 2

1 Dites à votre frère, Mon-Peuple, et à votre sœur Pitié:

Say ye unto your brethren: 'Ammi'; and to your sisters, 'Ruhamah.'

2 Plaidez contre votre mère; car elle n'est point Ma femme, et Je ne suis point son Mari. Et J'ôterai de devant Ma face sa prostitution, et son adultère du milieu de ses mamelles,

Plead with your mother, plead; for she is not My wife, neither am I her husband; and let her put away her harlotries from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

3 afin de la mettre nue, et de la remettre comme elle était le jour de sa naissance; et Je ferai d'elle un désert, et Je la traiterai comme une terre aride; et Je la tuerai par la soif;

Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

4 et Je n'aurai point pitié de ses enfants; car ce sont des enfants de prostitution.

And I will not have compassion upon her children; for they are children of harlotry.

5 Leur mère s'est prostituée; celle qui les a portés les a couverts de honte; elle a dit: Je m'en irai après mes amants qui me donnent mon pain, et mon eau, et mes vêtements, et mon linge, et mon huile, et tout ce qui m'est nécessaire.

For their mother hath played the harlot, she that conceived them hath done shamefully; for she said: 'I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.'

6 C'est pourquoi Je ferme sa voie avec des épines, et Je bâtirai sur ses routes; elle ne retrouvera plus son sentier.

Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and I will make a wall against her, that she shall not find her paths.

7 Elle poursuivra ses amants, et ne les atteindra pas; elle les cherchera, et ne les trouvera pas; Et elle dira: Je vais partir, je vais retourner auprès de mon premier mari; car, pour moi, il faisait meilleur alors que maintenant.

And she shall run after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them, and she shall seek them, but shall not find them; then shall she say: 'I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.'

8 Et elle n'a point connu que Je lui avais donné du pain, du vin et de l'huile, et que Je l'avais comblée d'argent, et elle a fait à Baal des idoles d'argent et d'or.

For she did not know that it was I that gave her the corn, and the wine, and the oil, and multiplied unto her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.

9 À cause de cela, Je M'en retournerai, Je prendrai Mon blé lors de la moisson, et Mon vin lors de la vendange; et Je reprendrai Mes vêtements et Mon linge, pour ne plus couvrir sa nudité.

Therefore will I take back My corn in the time thereof, and My wine in the season thereof, and will snatch away My wool and My flax given to cover her nakedness.

10 Et désormais Je révélerai à ses amants son impureté, et nul ne la délivrera de Mes mains.

And now will I uncover her shame in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of My hand.

11 Et Je supprimerai toutes ses joies, toutes ses fêtes, toutes ses nouvelles lunes, ses sabbats et toutes ses solennités.

I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feasts, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her appointed seasons.

12 Et Je détruirai sa vigne et ses figuiers, parce qu'elle a dit: Ce sont les salaires que m'ont donné mes amants. Et Moi, J'en ferai un témoignage; les bêtes des champs viendront y paître, et les oiseaux du ciel, et les reptiles de la terre.

And I will lay waste her vines and her fig-trees, whereof she hath said: 'These are my hire that my lovers have given me'; and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

13 Je lui ferai expier les jours où elle a sacrifié à Baal, et où elle a mis ses pendants d'oreilles et ses colliers pour s'en aller après son amant. Et elle M'a oublié, dit le Seigneur.

And I will visit upon her the days of the Baalim, wherein she offered unto them, and decked herself with her ear-rings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgot Me, saith the LORD.

14 C'est pourquoi Je l'égarerai et Je l'enverrai dans le désert, et je parlerai à son cœur.

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly unto her.

15 Et de là Je lui rendrai ses possessions et la vallée d'Achor, pour lui ouvrir l'intelligence. Et là elle s'humiliera autant de jours qu'a duré sa jeunesse, et autant de jours qu'elle a mis à revenir de la terre d'Égypte.

And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall respond there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

16 Et ceci arrivera en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur; elle M'appellera Mon époux, et elle ne M'appellera plus Baal.

And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call Me Ishi, and shalt call Me no more Baali.

17 Et J'ôterai de sa bouche les noms de Baal, et l'on ne s'en souviendra plus.

For I will take away the names of the Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be mentioned by their name.

18 Et en ce jour-là J'établirai une alliance entre eux et les bêtes sauvages, et les oiseaux du ciel, et les reptiles de la terre; et Je briserai sur la terre l'arc, le glaive et les armes de guerre, et Je t'y installerai avec l'espérance.

And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground; and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the land, and will make them to lie down safely.

19 Et Je te prendrai pour épouse dans tous les siècles, et Je te prendrai pour épouse en Mon équité, en Mes jugements, en Ma pitié, en Ma miséricorde.

And I will betroth thee unto Me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto Me in righteousness, and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in compassion.

20 Et Je te prendrai pour épouse avec confiance, et tu reconnaîtras le Seigneur.

And I will betroth thee unto Me in faithfulness; and thou shalt know the LORD.

21 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur, que J'exaucerai le ciel, et le ciel exaucera la terre.

And it shall come to pass in that day, I will respond, saith the LORD, I will respond to the heavens, and they shall respond to the earth;

22 Et la terre exaucera le blé, et le vin, et l'huile, et toutes ces choses exauceront Jezraël.

And the earth shall respond to the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall respond to Jezreel.

23 Et Je la sèmerai pour moi sur la terre, et J'aimerai celle que Je n'aimais pas. Et Je dirai à Non-Mon-Peuple: Tu es Mon peuple; et il dira: Tu es le Seigneur mon Dieu.

And I will sow her unto Me in the land; and I will have compassion upon her that had not obtained compassion; and I will say to them that were not My people: 'Thou art My people'; and they shall say: 'Thou art my God.'
