1 Voici le livre de la génération des hommes. Le jour où Dieu créa Adam, il le créa à l'image de Dieu.
Here is a list of the descendants of Adam. When God created humans, he caused them to be like him in many ways.
2 Il les créa mâle et femelle, il les bénit. Et il donna à l'homme le nom d'Adam, le jour où il les créa.
He created one man and one woman. He blessed them, and on the day that he created them, he called them ‘human beings’.
3 Or, Adam vécut deux cent trente ans, il engendra, selon son espèce et à son image, et il nomma son fils Seth.
When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who [grew up to] be just like him. That was the son he named Seth.
4 Or, les jours que vécut Adam, après qu'il eut engendré Seth, formèrent sept cents ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 more years, and during those years he became the father of other sons and daughters.
5 Et tous les jours que vécut Adam formèrent neuf cent trente ans, et il mourut.
Adam lived 930 years altogether, and then he died.
6 Seth vécut deux cent cinq ans, et il engendra Enos.
When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.
7 Et Seth vécut, après qu'il eut engendré Enos, sept cent sept ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
After Enosh was born, Seth lived 807 more years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
8 Ainsi tous les jours de Seth formèrent neuf cent douze ans, et il mourut.
Seth lived 912 years altogether, and then he died.
9 Enos vécut cent quatre-vingt-dix ans, et il engendra Caïnan.
When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.
10 Et après qu'il eut engendré Caïnan, Enos vécut cent quinze ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
After Kenan was born, Enosh lived 815 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.

When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.

When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.

After Jared was born, Mahalalel lived 830 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
17 Tous les jours de Malalehel formèrent huit cent quatre-vingt-quinze ans, et il mourut.
Mahalalel lived 895 years altogether, and then he died.
18 Jared vécut cent soixante-deux ans, et il engendra Énoch.
When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.
19 Et Jared vécut, après qu'il eut engendré Énoch, huit cents ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
Jared lived 800 years after Enoch was born, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.
20 Tous les jours de Jared formèrent neuf cent soixante-deux ans, et il mourut.
Jared lived 962 years altogether, and then he died.
21 Énoch vécut cent soixante-cinq ans, et il engendra Mathusalem.
When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.
22 Or Énoch, après qu'il eut engendré Mathusalem, vécut agréable à Dieu durant deux cents ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for 300 years after Methuselah was born, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.
23 Et tous les jours d'Enoch formèrent trois cent soixante-cinq ans,
Enoch lived 365 years altogether in close fellowship with God.
24 Énoch vécut agréable à Dieu; ensuite personne ne le vit plus, parce que Dieu l'avait transféré.
Then one day he disappeared, because God took him away [to be with him in heaven].
25 Mathusalem vécut cent soixante-sept ans, et il engendra Lamech.
When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.
26 Et Mathusalem vécut, après qu'il eut engendré Lamech, huit cent deux ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
Methuselah lived 782 years after Lamech was born, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
27 Tous les jours que vécut Mathusalem formèrent neuf cent soixante-neuf ans, et il mourut.
Methuselah lived 969 years altogether, and then he died.
28 Lamech vécut cent quatre-vingt-huit ans, et il engendra un fils,
When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son,
29 Auquel il donna le nom de Noé (repos), disant: Celui-ci nous fera reposer de nos travaux, et des peines de nos mains, ainsi que de la malédiction que le Seigneur Dieu a infligée à la terre.
whom he named Noah, [which sounds like the Hebrew word that means ‘relief’], because he said, “He will bring us relief from all the hard work we have been doing to produce food from the ground that Yahweh cursed.”
30 Lamech vécut, après qu'il eut engendré Noé, cinq cent soixante-cinq ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
Lamech lived 595 years after Noah was born and became the father of other sons and daughters.
31 Tous les jours de Lamech formèrent sept cent cinquante-trois ans, et il mourut.
Lamech lived 777 years altogether, and then he died.
32 Noé avait cinq cents ans, et il engendra trois fils: Sem, Cham et Japhet.
When Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of a son whom he named Shem. Later he became the father of another son whom he named Ham, and later he became the father of another son whom he named Japheth.
