Genèse 47
1 Joseph, les ayant quittés, fit un rapport au Pharaon, disant: Mon père, mes frères, et leurs troupeaux, leurs bœufs et tout ce qu'ils possèdent, sont arrivés de la terre de Chanaan; ils sont en la terre de Gessen.
Therfor Joseph entride, and telde to Farao, and seide, My fadir and brethren, the scheep and grete beestis of hem, and alle thingis whiche thei welden, camen fro the lond of Canaan; and lo! thei stonden in the lond of Gessen.
2 Il choisit, parmi ses frères, cinq hommes qu'il plaça devant le Pharaon.
And he ordeynede fyue, the laste men of hise britheren, bifore the kyng,
3 Et le Pharaon dit aux frères de Joseph: Quel est votre labeur? Ils répondirent: Tes serviteurs sont pasteurs de brebis; nous le sommes ainsi que nos pères.
whiche he axide, What werk han ye? Thei answeriden, We thi seruauntis ben kepers of scheep, bothe we and oure faderis;
4 Ils dirent ensuite au Pharaon: Nous sommes venus séjourner en passant sur cette terre, car tes serviteurs n'ont point de pâturages pour leur bétail, à cause de la famine qui sévit en la terre de Chanaan; maintenant donc qu'il nous soit permis de demeurer en la terre de Gessen.
we camen in to thi lond to be pilgrymys, for noo gras is to the flockis of thi seruauntis; hungur wexith greuouse in the lond of Canaan, and we axen that thou comaunde vs thi seruauntis to be in the lond of Gessen.
5 Et le Pharaon dit à Joseph: Qu'ils demeurent en la terre de Gessen, et, si tu connais parmi eux des hommes capables, fais-les chefs de mes troupeaux. C'est ainsi que vinrent en Égypte, auprès de Joseph, Jacob et ses fils, et que le roi Pharaon l'apprit. Le Pharaon dit aussi à Joseph: Ton père et tes frères sont venus auprès de toi;
And so the kyng seide to Joseph, Thi fadir and thi britheren camen to thee;
6 Voici devant toi la terre d'Égypte: établis ton père et tes frères en une terre de choix.
the lond of Egipt is in thi siyt, make thou hem to dwelle in the beste place, and yyue thou to hem the lond of Gessen; that if thou woost that witti men ben in hem, ordeyne thou hem maystris of my beestis.
7 Joseph amena Jacob, son père, devant le Pharaon, et Jacob bénit le Pharaon.
After these thingis Joseph brouyte in his fader to the king, and settide him bifor the king, which blesside the king;
8 Le Pharaon dit à Jacob: Quel est le nombre des années de ta vie?
and he was axid of the king, Hou many ben the daies of the yeeris of thi lijf?
9 Jacob répondit: Les jours des années de ma vie, depuis que je suis passager sur la terre, font cent trente ans. Ils ont été courts et mauvais, et n'ont point égalé en nombre les jours des années de la vie de mes pères, lors de leur passage.
And he answeride, The daies of pilgrymage of my lijf, ben feewe and yuele, of an hundrid and thretti yeer, and tho `camen not til to the daies of my fadris, in whiche thei weren pilgryms.
10 Et Jacob, ayant béni le Pharaon, sortit d'auprès de lui.
And whanne he hadde blessid the kyng, he yede out.
11 Joseph établit son père et ses frères; il leur donna des possessions en la terre d'Égypte, en la meilleure contrée, c'est-à-dire en la terre de Rhamessès, selon ce que le Pharaon avait prescrit.
Forsothe Joseph yaf to hise fadir and britheren possessioun in Egipt, in Ramasses, the beste soile of erthe, as Farao comaundide;
12 Et Joseph distribua du blé, tant par tête, à son père et à ses frères, et à toute la maison de son père.
and he fedde hem, and al the hows of his fadir, and yaf metis to alle.
13 Car il n'y avait point de blé sur la terre, et la famine sévissait cruellement. La terre d'Égypte et la terre de Chanaan dépérissaient à cause de la famine.
For breed failide in al the world, and hungur oppresside the lond, moost of Egipt and of Canaan;
14 Joseph accumula tout l'argent qui se trouvait en la terre d'Égypte et en la terre de Chanaan, pour prix du blé que l'on achetait et qu'il distribuait. Il porta tout cet argent en la demeure du Pharaon.
of whiche londis he gaderide al the money for the sillyng of wheete, and brouyte it in to the `tresorie of the kyng.
15 Enfin l'argent fut épuisé dans la terre d'Égypte et dans celle de Chanaan, et tous les Égyptiens vinrent à Joseph, disant: Donne-nous des vivres; faut -il que nous mourions devant toi, parce que nous n'avons plus d'argent?
And whanne prijs failide to the bieris, al Egipt cam to Joseph, and seide, Yyue thou `looues to vs; whi shulen we die bifore thee, while monei failith?
16 Joseph leur dit: Amenez-moi vos troupeaux, et je vous donnerai des vivres en échange de vos troupeaux, puisque vous n'avez plus d'argent.
To whiche he answeride, Brynge ye youre beestis, and Y schal yyue to you metis for tho, if ye han not prijs.
17 Ils amenèrent à Joseph leurs troupeaux, et Joseph leur donna des vivres en échange des chevaux, des brebis et des ânes; et, cette année-là, il les nourrit de blé échangé contre tout leur bétail.
And whanne thei hadden brouyt tho, he yaf to hem metis for horsis, and scheep, and oxun, and assis; and he susteynede hem in that yeer for the chaungyng of beestis.
18 Ils vinrent à lui, l'année finie, et ils lui dirent: Nous faudra-t-il donc périr devant notre seigneur, parce que notre argent, nos richesses, notre bétail ont passé entre les mains de notre seigneur, et qu'il ne nous reste plus rien devant lui que notre corps et notre terre?
And thei camen in the secunde yeer, and seiden to hym, We helen not fro oure lord, that the while monei failith, also beestis failiden togidere, nether it is hid fro thee, that with out bodies and lond we han no thing;
19 Afin donc que nous ne mourions pas et que la terre ne devienne point déserte, achète-nous nous-mêmes avec notre terre, en échange de vivres; et nous, avec notre terre, nous serons esclaves du Pharaon. Donne-nous de la semence afin que nous semions, et que nous vivions, et que nous ne mourions pas, et que la terre ne devienne point déserte.
whi therfor schulen we die, while thou seest? bothe we and oure lond schulen be thine, bie thou vs in to the kyngis seruage, and yyue thou seedis, lest the while the tiliere perischith, the lond be turned in to wildirnesse.
20 Et Joseph acheta pour le Pharaon toutes les terres des Égyptiens; car les Égyptiens vendaient leurs terres au Pharaon, à cause de la famine qui sévissait sur eux, et la terre appartint au roi.
Therfor Joseph bouyte al the lond of Egipt, while all men seelden her possessiouns, for the greetnesse of hungur;
21 Joseph lui asservit tout le peuple, qui devint esclave depuis l'une des extrémités de l'Égypte jusqu'à l'autre;
and he made it and alle puplis therof suget to Farao, fro the laste termes of Egipt til to the laste endis therof,
22 Hormis les terres des prêtres, que Joseph n'acheta pas, car le Pharaon leur donnait gratuitement des vivres; ils vécurent ainsi des vivres que leur avait donnés le Pharaon, et ils ne vendirent point leurs terres.
outakun the lond of preestis, that was youun of the kyng to hem, to whiche preestis also metis weren youun of the comun bernys, and therfor thei weren not compellid to sille her possessiouns.
23 Joseph dit ensuite à tous les Égyptiens: J'ai acquis aujourd'hui pour le Pharaon vous et vos terres; prenez de la semence, et ensemencez les champs.
Therfor Joseph seide to the puplis, Lo! as ye seen, Farao weldith bothe you and youre lond; take ye seedis, and `sowe ye feeldis,
24 Ainsi la terre produira; vous donnerez la cinquième part au Pharaon, et les quatre autres seront à vous, pour ensemencer les terres et pour vous nourrir, vous et vos maisons.
that ye moun haue fruytis; ye schulen yyue the fifthe part to the kyng; Y suffre to you the foure residue partis in to seed and in to meetis, to you, and to youre fre children.
25 Et ils dirent: Tu nous as sauvés; nous avons trouvé grâce devant notre seigneur, et nous serons les esclaves du Pharaon.
Whiche answeriden, Oure helthe is in thin hond; oneli oure God biholde vs, and we schulen ioifuli serue the kyng.
26 Joseph leur imposa ainsi la loi qui subsiste encore aujourd'hui en la terre d'Égypte, de donner la cinquième part au Pharaon; hormis les terres des prêtres, qui n'appartiennent pas au Pharaon.
For that tyme til in to present dai, in al the lond of Egipt, the fyuethe part is paied to the kyngis, and it is maad as in to a lawe, with out the lond of preestis, that was fre fro this condicioun.
27 Israël demeura donc en la terre de Gessen d'Égypte, et ses fils y possédaient, et ils croissaient, et ils multipliaient extrêmement.
Therfor Israel dwellide in Egipt, that is, in the lond of Jessen, and weldide it; and he was encreessid and multiplied ful mych.
28 Jacob vécut encore dix-sept ans en la terre d'Égypte; et les jours de la vie de Jacob formèrent cent quarante-sept ans.
And he lyuede therynne sixtene yeer; and alle the daies of his lijf weren maad of an hundrid and seuene and fourti yeer.
29 Or, les jours d'Israël approchaient de leur fin; il appela son fils Joseph, et il lui dit: Si j'ai trouvé grâce devant toi, mets la main sous ma cuisse, et tu me feras en vérité la miséricorde de ne point m'ensevelir en Égypte,
And whanne he seiy the dai of deeth nyye, he clepide his sone Joseph, and seide to hym, If Y haue founde grace in thi siyt; putte thin hond vndur myn hipe, and thou schal do merci and treuthe to me, that thou birie not me in Egipt;
30 Mais de me faire reposer auprès de mes pères. Tu me transporteras d'Égypte pour m'ensevelir dans leur sépulcre; et Joseph dit: Je ferai selon ta parole.
but `Y schal slepe with my fadris, and take thou awey me fro this lond, and birie in the sepulcre of my grettere. To whom Joseph answeride, Y schal do that that thou comaundist.
31 Et Jacob dit: Jure-le-moi; et Joseph le lui jura. Israël s'inclina en adorant sur l'extrémité de son bâton.
And Israel seide, Therfor swere thou to me; and whanne Joseph swoor, Israel turnede to the heed of the bed, and worschipide God.
