Genèse 33
1 Bientôt Jacob ayant levé les yeux, vit son frère Esaü arriver avec quatre cents hommes, et Jacob rangea séparément les enfants, autour de Lia, de Rachel et des deux servantes.
Forsothe Jacob reiside hise iyen, and seiy Esau comynge, and foure hundrid men with hym; and he departide the sones of Lia, and of Rachel, and of bothe seruauntessis.
2 Il mit en avant les deux servantes et leurs fils, puis par derrière Lia et ses enfants, et enfin Rachel avec Joseph.
And he puttide euer either handmaide, and the fre children of hem, in the bigynnyng; sotheli he puttide Lia, and her sones, in the secounde place; forsothe he puttide Rachel and Joseph the laste.
3 Lui-même s'avança devant eux tous, et se prosterna sept fois jusqu'à terre avant d'arriver à Esaü.
And Jacob yede bifore, and worschipide lowli to erthe seuensithis, til his brothir neiyede.
4 Celui-ci accourut à sa rencontre, l'embrassa, lui jeta ses bras autour du cou, et le baisa, et ils pleurèrent tous les deux.
And so Esau ran ayens his brothir, and collide hym, and Esau helde his necke, and kisside, and wepte.
5 Or, Esaü ayant levé les yeux, vit les femmes et les enfants, et il dit: Quoi! sont-ils à toi? Jacob répondit: Ce sont les enfants dont Dieu, dans sa miséricorde, a gratifié ton serviteur.
And whanne the iyen weren reisid, he seiy the wymmen, and the litle children of hem, and seide, What wolen these to hem silf? and wher thei pertenen to thee? Jacob answeride, Thei ben the litle children, whiche God hath youe to me, thi seruaunt.
6 Les servantes et leurs enfants s'approchèrent aussi, et ils se prosternèrent.
And the handmaydis and her sones neiyeden, and weren bowid.
7 Et Lia s'approcha avec ses enfants, et ils se prosternèrent; Rachel enfin s'approcha avec Joseph, et ils se prosternèrent.
Also Lya neiyede with hir fre children; and whanne thei hadden worschipid in lijk maner, Joseph and Rachel the laste worschipeden.
8 Or, Esaü dit: Quoi! les troupeaux que j'ai rencontrés sont-ils aussi à toi? Jacob répondit: Je les ai envoyés pour que ton serviteur trouve grâce devant toi, seigneur.
And Esau seide, What ben these cumpanyes, whiche Y mette? Jacob answerde, That Y schulde fynde grace bifore my lord.
9 Et son frère dit: J'ai de grandes possessions, frère, garde tes biens pour toi.
And he seide, My brother, Y haue ful many thingis, thi thingis be to thee.
10 Si j'ai trouvé grâce devant toi, reprit Jacob, accepte mes présents, car j'ai vu ta face comme on verrait la face de Dieu; tu me feras ce plaisir:
And Jacob seide, Y biseche, nyle thou so, but if Y foond grace in thin iyen, take thou a litil yifte of myn hondis; for Y seiy so thi face as I seiy the cheer of God;
11 Prends donc les présents que je t'ai apportés, parce que le Seigneur dans sa miséricorde m'en a gratifié, et que tout cela est à moi. Et il usa de contrainte, et son frère accepta.
be thou merciful to me, and resseyue the blessyng which Y brouyte to thee, and which blessyng God yyuynge alle thingis yaf to me. Vnnethis, while the brothir compellide,
12 Or, Esaü dit: Partons, et marchons droit devant nous.
he resseyuede, and seide, Go we to gidere, and Y schal be felowe of thi weie.
13 Jacob lui répondit: Mon seigneur sait que les enfants sont délicats, que des brebis et des vaches pleines m'accompagnent; si donc je les presse un seul jour, tout mon bétail mourra.
And Jacob seide, My lord, thou knowist that Y haue litle children tendre, and scheep, and kien with calue with me, and if Y schal make hem for to trauele more in goynge, alle the flockis schulen die in o dai;
14 Que mon seigneur précède son serviteur, et de mon côté je me hâterai en chemin, selon les forces de ce qui marche devant moi, et selon le pas des enfants, jusqu'à ce que j'aie rejoint mon seigneur en Séir.
my lord go bifore his seruaunt, and Y schal sue litil and litil hise steppis, as I shal se that my litle children mown, til Y come to my lord, in to Seir.
15 Et son frère reprit: Je laisserai avec toi une partie des gens qui m'accompagnent. Il répondit: Pourquoi cela? il me suffit d'avoir trouvé grâce devant toi, seigneur.
Esau answeride, Y preie thee, that of the puple which is with me, nameli felowis of thi weie dwelle. Jacob seide, It is no nede; Y haue nede to this o thing oneli, that Y fynde grace in thi siyt, my lord.
16 Et ce jour-là même Esaü reprit, pour retourner à Séir, le chemin par lequel il était venu.
And so Esau turnede ayen in that dai in the weie bi which he cam, in to Seir.
17 De son côté Jacob s'en alla dresser ses tentes; il éleva là pour lui des tentes, et pour ses troupeaux des abris; c'est pourquoi il nomma ce lieu les Tabernacles.
And Jacob cam in to Sochot, where whanne he hadde bildid an hows, and hadde set tentis, he clepide the name of that place Sochot, that is, tabernaclis.
18 De là, Jacob passa à Salem, ville des Sécimes qui est en la terre de Chanaan, où il était rentré en revenant de la Mésopotamie Syrienne, et il campa en face de la ville.
And Jacob passide in to Salem, a citee of Sichimis, whiche is in the lond of Canaan, aftir that he turnede ayen fro Mesopotanye of Sirie, and he dwellide besidis the citee.
19 Il acheta d'Emmor, père de Sichem, au prix de cent agneaux, la portion du champ où il avait dressé ses tentes.
And he bouyte for an hundrid lambren a part of the feeld, in which he settide tabernaclis, of the sones of Emor, fadir of Sichem.
20 Il y éleva un autel, et il invoqua le Dieu d'Israël.
And whanne he hadde reisid an auter there, he inwardly clepide on it the strongeste God of Israel.
