Genèse 30
1 Cependant, Rachel, voyant qu'elle n'enfantait point pour Jacob, fut jalouse de sa sœur, et elle dit à Jacob: Donne-moi des enfants, sinon je mourrai.
When Rahel sawe that she bare Iacob no childern she enuied hir sister and sayde vnto Iacob: geue me childern or ells I am but deed.
2 Jacob, irrité contre Rachel, lui dit: Suis-je l'égal de Dieu, qui t'a privé de fruits de tes entrailles?
Than was Iacob wrooth with Rahel saynge: Am I in godes steade which kepeth fro the the frute of thi wobe?
3 Et Rachel dit à Jacob: Voici ma servante Balla approche-toi d'elle, elle enfantera sur mes genoux, et par elle, moi aussi, j'aurai des enfants.
The she sayde: here is my mayde Bilha: go in vnto her that she maye beare vpo my lappe that I maye be encreased by her.
4 Elle lui donna donc pour femme Balla, sa servante, et Jacob s'approcha d'elle.
And she gaue him Bilha hir hadmayde to wife. And Iacob wet in vnto her
5 Et Balla, la servante de Rachel, conçut, et elle enfanta à Jacob un fils.
And Bilha conceaued and bare Iacob a sonne.
6 Le Seigneur m'a jugée, dit alors Rachel, il a entendu ma voix, et il m'a donné un fils; c'est pourquoi elle donna à l'enfant le nom de Dan.
Than sayde Rahel. God hath geuen sentece on my syde and hath also herde my voyce and hath geuen me a sonne. Therfore called she him Dan.
7 Balla, la servante de Rachel, conçut encore, et elle enfanta à Jacob un second fils.
And Bilha Rahels mayde coceaued agayne and bare Iacob a nother sonne.
8 Et Rachel dit: Le Seigneur m'a secourue; j'ai lutté contre ma sœur et j'ai prévalu; en conséquence elle donna à l'enfant le nom de Nephthali.
And Rahel sayde. God is turned and I haue made achaunge with my sister and haue gote ye vpper hade. And she called his name Nepthali
9 Lia, voyant qu'elle avait cessé d'enfanter, prit Zelpha, sa servante, et la donna pour femme à Jacob, qui s'approcha d'elle.
Whe Lea sawe that she had left bearinge she toke Silpha hir mayde and gaue her Iacob to wiffe.
10 Et Zelpha, la servante de Lia, conçut; elle enfanta à Jacob un fils.
And Silpha Leas made bare Iacob a sonne.
11 Et Lia dit: À la bonne heure; et elle le nomma Gad.
Than sayde Lea: good lucke: and called his name Gad.
12 Zolpha, la servante de Lia, conçut encore, et elle enfanta à Jacob un second fils.
And Silpha Leas mayde bare Iacob another sonne.
13 Et Lia dit: Heureuse je suis, car les femmes m'estiment heureuse; et elle le nomma Aser.
Tha sayd Lea: happy am I for the doughters will call me blessed. And called his name Asser.
14 Or, un jour Ruben sortit pendant la moisson du froment, et il trouva dans le champ des fruits de mandragores, et il les apporta à Lia sa mère, et Rachel dit à sa sœur Lia: Donne-moi des mandragores de ton fils.
And Rube wet out in the wheat haruest and foude mandragoras in the feldes and brought the vnto his mother Lea. Than sayde Rahel to Lea geue me of thy sonnes madragoras.
15 Et Lia lui dit: N'est-ce pas assez pour toi de n'avoir pris mon époux; me prendras-tu encore les mandragores de mon fils? Ce n'est pas ce que j'entends, dit Rachel; que Jacob dorme cette nuit avec toi pour prix des mandragores de ton fils.
And Lea answered: is it not ynough yt thou hast take awaye my housbode but woldest take awaye my sonnes mandragoras also? Than sayde Rahel well let him slepe with the this nyghte for thy sonnes mandragoras.
16 Lors donc que Jacob revint du champ le soir, Lia sortit à sa rencontre, et lui dit: Tu t'approcheras aujourd'hui de moi, car je t'ai obtenu, pour les mandragores de ton fils; et il dormit cette nuit avec elle.
And whe Iacob came from the feldes at euen Lea went out to mete him and sayde: come into me for I haue bought the with my sonnes mandragoras. And he slepte with her that nyghte.
17 Dieu exauça Lia; elle conçut, et elle enfanta à Jacob un cinquième fils,
And God herde Lea yt she coceaued and bare vnto Iacob yt. v. sonne.
18 Et elle dit: Le Seigneur m'a récompensée d'avoir donné ma servante à mon époux; elle nomma donc l'enfant Issachar c'est-à-dire récompense.
Than sayde Lea. God hath geue me my rewarde because I gaue my mayde to my housbod and she called him Isachar.
19 Lia conçut encore, et elle enfanta à Jacob un sixième fils.
And Lea coceaued yet agayne and bare Iacob the sexte sonne.
20 Alors elle dit: Le Seigneur vient de me faire un don précieux: mon époux m'aimera, parce que je lui ai donné un sixième fils; et elle nomma celui-ci Zabulon.
Than sayde she: God hath endewed me with a good dowry. Now will my housbond dwell with me because I haue borne him. vi. sonnes: and called his name Zabulo.
21 Après cela, elle enfanta une fille qu'elle appela Dina.
After that she bare a doughter and called her Dina.
22 Cependant, Dieu se souvint de Rachel; il l'exauça, et lui ouvrit les entrailles.
And God remebred Rahel herde her and made her frutefull:
23 Elle conçut donc, et enfanta à Jacob un fils; et Rachel dit: Dieu a effacé mon opprobre.
so that she coceaued and bare a sonne and sayde God hath take awaye my rebuke.
24 Elle nomma l'enfant Joseph, et elle dit: Que Dieu m'accorde encore un fils.
And she called his name Ioseph saynge The lorde geue me yet a nother sonne.
25 Or, il arriva qu'après que Rachel eut enfanté Joseph, Jacob dit à Laban: Congédie-moi, que je retourne en mon lieu natal, en mon pays.
As soone as Rahel had borne Ioseph Iacob sayde to Laban: Sede me awaye yt I maye goo vnto myne awne place and cutre
26 Rends-moi mes femmes et mes enfants pour lesquels je t'ai servi; qu'enfin je parte, car tu sais la servitude à laquelle je me suis assujetti pour toi.
geue me my wives and my childern for whome I haue serued the and let me goo; for thou knowest what seruyce I haue done the.
27 Laban lui dit: Si j'ai trouvé grâce devant toi, puisque j'ai expérimenté que Dieu m'a béni depuis ton arrivée,
Than sayde Laban vnto hi: If I haue fownde fauoure in thy syghte (for I suppose yt the LORde hath blessed me for thy sake)
28 Fixe-moi ta récompense, et tu l'auras.
appoynte what thy rewarde shalbe and I will geue it ye.
29 Tu sais, répondit Jacob, combien je l'ai servi, et ce qu'est devenu ton bétail avec moi.
But he sayde vnto hym thou knowest what seruyce I haue done ye and in what takynge thy catell haue bene vnder me:
30 Car avant moi tu en avais peu, et il s'est multiplié grandement; le Seigneur Dieu t'a béni sous mes pas. Maintenant donc, quand me ferai-je aussi une maison?
for it was but litle that thou haddest before I came and now it is encreased in to a multitude and the LORDE hath blessed the for my sake. But now when shall I make provysion for myne awne house also?
31 Et Laban lui dit: Que te donnerai-je? Jacob répondit: Tu ne me donneras rien, si tu consens à ce que je vais te dire, je paîtrai encore tes troupeaux et je les garderai.
And he sayde: what shall I geue the? And Iacob answerd: thou shalt geue me nothinge at all yf thou wilt do this one thinge for me: And then will I turne agayne and fede thy shepe and kepe them.
32 Fais-les tous passer aujourd'hui devant nous; puis sépare désormais, parmi les agneaux, tout rejeton brun, et parmi les chèvres, tout rejeton mêlé de blanc ou tacheté; ce sera ma récompense.
I will go aboute all thy shepe this daye and separate fro the all the shepe that are spotted and of dyverse coloures and all blacke shepe amonge the lambes and the partie and spotted amonge the kyddes: And then such shalbe my rewarde.
33 Dès demain ma justice me servira, puisque telle est avec toi ma récompense. Que tout ce qui chez moi ne sera pas tacheté ou mêlé de blanc parmi les chèvres, ni brun parmi les agneaux, me soit imputé à larcin.
So shall my rightwesnes answere for me: when the tyme commeth that I shall receaue my rewarde of the: So that what soeuer is not speckeld and partie amonge the gootes and blacke amonge the lambes let that be theft with me.
34 Et Laban lui dit: Qu'il soit fait selon ta parole.
Than sayde Laban: loo I am contete that it be acordinge as thou hast sayde.
35 Dès ce jour-là, il sépara de ses troupeaux les boucs tachetés et mêlés de blanc, les chèvres tachetées et mêlées de blanc, les agneaux bruns mis à part des blancs, et il les confia à ses fils.
And he toke out that same daye the he gootes that were partie and of dyuerse coloures and all the she gootes that were spotted and partie coloured and all that had whyte in the and all the blacke amonge the lambes: ad put the in the kepinge of his sonnes
36 Et il mit trois journées de marche entre ses fils et Jacob. Or, Jacob paissait le reste des troupeaux de Laban.
and sett thre dayes ourney ibetwixte hiselfe and Iacob. And so Iacob kepte ye rest of Labas shepe.
37 Et Jacob prit une baguette verte de styrax, une autre de noyer et une de platane, et les ayant dépouillées jusqu'à l'écorce blanche, il laissa tout autour une bande d'écorce verte, en sorte que le blanc, mis à découvert, les fit paraître toutes bigarrées.
Iacob toke roddes of grene popular hasell and of chestnottrees and pilled whyte strakes in the and made the white apere in the staues:
38 Il mit les baguettes écorcées dans les cannaux des abreuvoirs, afin que quand les troupeaux viendraient boire de l'eau, les femelles conçussent devant elles;
And he put the staues which he had pilled eue before ye shepe in the gutters and watrynge troughes whe the shepe came to drynke: yt they shulde coceaue whe they came to drynke.
39 Et les femelles conçurent devant les baguettes, et elles mirent bas des petits mêlés de blanc, ou bigarrés, ou cendrés-tachetés.
And the shepe coceaued before the staues and brought forth straked spotted and partie.
40 Et Jacob sépara les agneaux: il plaça en avant des troupeaux tout mâle mêlé de blanc, tout agneau bigarré, et il prit pour lui les rejetons qui devaient lui revenir, sans les mêler avec les troupeaux de Laban.
The Iacob parted the labes and turned the faces of the shepe toward spotted thinges and toward all maner of blacke thinges thorow out the flockes of Laba. And he made him flockes of his owne by the selfe which he put not vnto the flockes of Laba.
41 Lorsque venait le temps où concevaient les mères, Jacob plaçait les baguettes devant les troupeaux dans les abreuvoirs, pour que les femelles conçussent en face des baguettes.
And allwaye in the first buckinge tyme of the shepe Iacob put the staues before the shepe in the gutters yt they myghte conceaue before the staues
42 Et quand les femelles avaient enfanté, il n'en plaçait plus. Il advint donc que les rejetons sans marque appartinrent à Laban; ceux qui étaient marqués appartinrent à Jacob.
But in the latter buckynge tyme he put them not there: so the last brode was Labas and the first Iacobs.
43 Et l'homme s'enrichit beaucoup, beaucoup; il eut quantité de bétail, et des bœufs, et des serviteurs et des servantes, et des chameaux et des ânes.
And the man became excedynge ryche and had many shepe maydeseruauntes menseruauntes camels and asses.
