1 Et voici les noms des chefs de familles, qui sont venus avec moi sous le règne d'Arthasastha, roi de Babylone
These are now the chiefe fathers of them, and the genealogie of them that came vp with mee from Babel, in the reigne of King Artahshashte.
2 Des fils de Phinéès, Gerson; des fils d'Ithamar, Daniel; des fils de David, Attus.
Of the sonnes of Phinehas, Gershom: of the sonnes of Ithamar, Daniel: of the sonnes of Dauid, Hattush:
3 Des fils de Sachanie et des fils de Phoros, Zacharie, et avec lui ses compagnons, cent cinquante hommes.
Of the sonnes of Shechaniah, of the sonnes of Pharosh, Zechariah, and with him the count of the males, an hundreth and fiftie.
4 Des fils de Phaath-Moab, Eliana, fils de Saraïa, et avec lui deux cents hommes.
Of the sonnes of Pahath Moab, Elihoenai, the sonne of Zerahiah, and with him two hundreth males.
5 Et des fils de Zathoé, Sechénias, fils d'Aziel, et avec lui trois cents hommes.
Of the sonnes of Shechaniah, the sonne of Iahaziel, and with him three hundreth males.
6 Et des fils d'Adin, Obed, fils de Jonathas, et avec lui cinquante hommes.
And of the sonnes of Adin, Ebed the sonne of Ionathan, and with him fiftie males.
7 Et des fils d'Elam, Isaïe, fils d'Athélie, et avec lui soixante-dix hommes.
And of the sonnes of Elam, Ieshaiah the sonne of Athaliah, and with him seuentie males.
8 Et des fils de Saphatie, Zabadie, fils de Michel, et avec lui quatre-vingts mâles.
And of the sonnes of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the sonne of Michael, and with him fourescore males.
9 Et des fils de Joab, Abadie, fils de Jehiel, et avec lui deux cent dix-huit hommes.
Of the sonnes of Ioab, Obadiah the sonne of Iehiel, and with him two hundreth and eighteene males.
10 Et des fils de Baani, Selimuth, fils de Joséphie, et avec lui cent soixante hommes.
And of the sonnes of Shelomith the sonne of Iosiphiah, and with him an hundreth and threescore males.
11 Et des fils de Babi, Zacharie, fils de Babi, et avec lui vingt-huit mâles.
And of the sonnes of Bebai, Zechariah the sonne of Bebai, and with him eight and twentie males.
12 Et des fils d'Asgad, Johanan, fils d'Accatan, et avec lui cent dix mâles.
And of the sonnes of Azgad, Iohanan the sonne of Hakkatan, and with him an hundreth and ten males.
13 Et des fils d'Adonicam, les derniers, et voici leurs noms: Eliphalat, Jehel et Samaia, et avec eux soixante mâles.
And of the sonnes of Adonikam, that were the last, whose names are these: Eliphelet, Iehiel and Shemaiah, and with them three score males.
14 Et des fils de Baguai, Uthaï et Zabud, et avec eux soixante-dix mâles.
And of the sonnes of Biguai, Vthai, and Zabbud, and with them seuentie males.
15 Je les réunis vers le fleuve qui se rend à Evi, et nous y restâmes campés trois jours; et je m'informai du peuple et des prêtres, et je ne trouvai là pas un fils de Lévi.
And I gathered them to the Riuer that goeth toward Ahaua, and there abode we three dayes: then I viewed the people, and the Priests, and found there none of the sonnes of Leui.
16 Ensuite, je donnai mes ordres à Eléazar, à Ariel, à Sémeïas et à Alonam, à Jarib, à Elnatham, à Nathan, à Zacharie, à Mesollam, à Joarim et à Elthanan, hommes doués de sagesse.
Therefore sent I to Eliezer, to Ariel, to Shemeiah, and to Elnathan, and to Iarib, and to Elnathan, and to Nathan, and to Zechariah, and to Meshullam the chiefe, and to Ioiarib and to Elnathan, men of vnderstanding,
17 Et je les envoyai aux chefs, avec l'argent recueilli dans la contrée, et je leur mis sur les lèvres les paroles qu'ils avaient à dire à leurs frères les Athinéens, en leur remettant l'argent recueilli dans la contrée, afin qu'ils nous amenassent des chantres pour le temple de notre Dieu.
And I gaue them commandement, to Iddo the chiefest at the place of Casiphia, and I told them the words that they should speake to Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims at the place of Casiphia, that they should cause the ministers of the house of our God to come vnto vs.
18 Et comme la main de Dieu nous était favorable, ils nous amenèrent un homme: Sachon, des fils de Mooli, fils de Lévi, fils d'Israël, et d'abord arrivèrent ses fils et ses frères, en tout dix-huit;
So by the good hande of our God which was vpon vs, they brought vs a man of vnderstanding of the sonnes of Mahali the sonne of Leui the sonne of Israel, and Sherebiah with his sonnes and his brethren, euen eighteene.
19 Ils nous amenèrent aussi Asebie et Isaïe, des fils de Mérari, et ses frères et ses fils, vingt personnes.
Also Hashabiah, and with him Ieshaiah of the sonnes of Merari, with his brethren, and their sonnes twentie.
20 Et des Nathinéens que David et les chefs avaient donnés pour serviteurs aux lévites, deux cent vingt, tous désignés par leurs noms.
And of the Nethinims, whom Dauid had set, and the Princes for the seruice of the Leuites, two hundreth and twentie of the Nethinims, which all were named by name.
21 Et là, sur le fleuve Ahua je proclamai un jeûne, pour nous humilier devant notre Dieu, et chercher par lui le droit chemin, pour nous et nos enfants, et tout notre bétail.
And there at the Riuer, by Ahaua, I proclaimed a fast, that we might humble our selues before our God, and seeke of him a right way for vs, and for our children, and for all our substance.
22 En effet, j'aurais eu honte de demander au roi des troupes et de la cavalerie, pour nous protéger en route contre tout ennemi, car nous avions dit au roi: La main de notre Dieu est sur tous ceux qui le cherchent pour le bien; mais sa puissance et sa colère sont sur tous ceux qui l'abandonnent.
For I was ashamed to require of the King an armie and horsemen, to helpe vs against the enemie in the way, because we had spoken to the King, saying, The hande of our God is vpon all them that seeke him in goodnesse, but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.
23 Et nous jeûnâmes, nous fîmes à ce sujet notre prière au Seigneur, et il nous exauça.
So we fasted, aud besought our God for this: and he was intreated of vs.
24 Et je donnai mes ordres à douze des chefs des prêtres: à Sardias, Asabie, et dix de leurs frères.
Then I separated twelue of the chiefe of the Priests, Sherebiah, and Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,
25 Et je pesai pour eux l'argent, l'or et les vases des prémices consacrées dans le temple de notre Dieu, que le roi, ses conseillers, ses princes, et tous ceux d'Israël, qu'on avait trouvés, avaient offerts,
And weighed them the siluer and the gold, and the vessels, euen the offring of ye house of our God, which the King and his counselers, and his Princes, and all Israel that were present had offred.
26 Je pesai ainsi entre leurs mains six cent cinquante talents d'argent, cent vases d'argent et cent talents d'or;
And I weighed vnto their hand sixe hundreth and fiftie talents of siluer, and in siluer vessel, an hundreth talents, and in golde, an hundreth talents:
27 Et vingt tasses d'or du poids d'environ mille drachmes, et des vases de grand prix, en bel airain brillant, aussi précieux que s'ils eussent été d'or.
And twentie basins of golde, of a thousand drammes, and two vessels of shining brasse very good, and precious as golde.
28 Puis, je leur dis: Vous êtes saints aux yeux du Seigneur; les vases sont saints, l'argent et l'or ont été volontairement donnés pour le Seigneur Dieu de nos pères.
And I said vnto them, Ye are consecrate vnto the Lord, and the vessels are consecrate, and the gold and the siluer are freely offred vnto the Lord God of your fathers.
29 Veillez sur eux et gardez-les jusqu'à ce que vous les pesiez devant les princes des prêtres, devant les lévites et devant les chefs de familles de Jérusalem, dans le tabernacle du temple du Seigneur.
Watch ye, and keepe them vntill ye weigh them before the chiefe Priestes and the Leuites, and the chiefe fathers of Israel in Ierusalem in the chambers of the house of the Lord.
30 Cet or et cet argent pesés de cette manière, les prêtres et les lévites les reçurent pour les porter à Jérusalem, dans le temple du Seigneur notre Dieu.
So the Priests and the Leuites receiued the weight of the siluer and of the golde, and of the vessels to bring them to Ierusalem, vnto the house of our God.
31 Alors, je levai mon camp du fleuve Ahua, le douzième jour du premier mois, pour aller à Jérusalem. Et la main du Seigneur notre Dieu était sur nous, et il nous préserva en route de tout ennemi, de toute attaque ou de toute hostilité.
Then we departed from the Riuer of Ahauah on the twelft day of the first moneth, to go vnto Ierusalem, and the hand of our God was vpon vs, and deliuered vs from the hand of the enemie, and of such as layde waite by the way.
32 Nous arrivâmes à Jérusalem, et nous y demeurâmes trois jours.
And we came to Ierusalem, and abode there three dayes.
33 Le quatrième jour, nous pesâmes l'argent, l'or et les vases, dans le temple du Seigneur, entre les mains de Merimoth, fils d'Urie, le prêtre, en présence d'Eléazar, fils de Phinéès; il y avait avec eux les lévites Josabad, fils de Josué, et Noadia, fils de Banaïa.
And on ye fourth day was the siluer weighed, and the golde and the vessell in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the sonne of Vriah the Priest, and with him was Eleazar the sonne of Phinehas, and with them was Iozabad the sonne of Ieshua, and Noadiah the sonne of Binnui the Leuites,
34 On en fit le compte, on en prit le poids, et le poids total fut écrit. En ce temps-là,
By number and by weight of euery one, and all the weight was written at the same time.
35 Les fils de l'exil revenus de la captivité offrirent en holocauste, au Dieu d'Israël, douze bœufs pour tout Israël, quatre-vingt-onze béliers, soixante-dix-sept agneaux, et douze boucs pour le péché; tout cela fut offert en holocauste au Seigneur.
Also the children of the captiuitie, which were come out of captiuitie, offred burnt offrings vnto the God of Israel, twelue bullockes for all Israel, ninetie and sixe rammes, seuentie and seuen lambes, and twelue hee goates for sinne: all was a burnt offring of the Lord.
36 Et les édits du roi furent donnés à ses intendants et à ses gouverneurs, d'en deçà du fleuve, qui glorifièrent le peuple et le temple de Dieu.
And they deliuered the Kings commission vnto the Kings officers, and to the captaines beyond the Riuer: and they promoted the people, and the house of God.
