Ézéchiel 3
1 Et l'esprit me dit: Fils de l'homme, mange ce rouleau et pars, et parle aux fils d'Israël.
He said to me, “You human, eat this scroll that is in front of you. Then go and speak to the Israeli people [MTY].”
2 Et il m'ouvrit la bouche, et il me fit manger le rouleau.
So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat it.
3 Et il me dit: Fils de l'homme, ta bouche mangera, et tes entrailles seront rassasiées de ce rouleau qui t'est donné. Et je le mangeai, et il fut à ma bouche comme du miel le plus doux.
Then he said to me, “You human, eat the scroll that I have given to you. Fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and in my mouth it tasted as sweet as honey.
4 Et l'esprit me dit: Fils de l'homme, pars et va trouver la maison d'Israël, et répète-leur mes paroles.
Then he said to me, “You human, go to the Israeli people [MTY] and tell them my message.
5 Car c'est à la maison d'Israël que je t'envoie, et non à un peuple qui parle une langue inconnue,
The people to whom I am sending you are not people whose language is very [to learn], a language which you do not understand. I am sending you to your Israeli people [MTY].
6 Ni à maintes nations parlant d'autres langues, des langues étrangères, difficiles, inintelligibles pour toi; et quand même je t'aurais envoyé à de tels peuples, ils t'écouteraient encore.
I am sending you to people whose language you understand very well. If I were sending you to people whose language was difficult for you to understand, they [be surprised and] pay attention to what [say to them].
7 Mais la maison d'Israël ne voudra pas t'écouter; car ils ne veulent pas m'écouter moi-même, parce que toute la maison d'Israël est opiniâtre et a le cœur endurci.
But the Israeli people do not want to listen to you because they do not want to listen to me. [They do not want to listen because] they are all very stubborn [DOU].
8 Et voilà que j'ai fait ta face puissante devant leurs faces, et j'affermirai en toi un pouvoir plus fort que leur pouvoir,
But I will enable you [SYN] to be as stubborn and tough as they are.
9 Et qui sera toujours plus ferme qu'un rocher. Ne les crains pas, ne tremble pas devant leur visage; car c'est une maison qui m'irrite.
I will cause you to be as firm/unbreakable as [SIM] the hardest stone, like flint. So, [even though] they are very rebellious people, do not be afraid of them; do not allow them to cause you to be afraid.”
10 Et l'esprit me dit: Fils de l'homme, toutes les paroles que je t'ai dites, reçois-les dans ton cœur, entends-les de tes oreilles.
He also said to me, “You human, listen very carefully to what I say, and keep thinking about it [IDM].
11 Et pars, va parmi les captifs près des fils de mon peuple; parle-leur et dis: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur; pour voir si par hasard ils t'écouteront, si par hasard ils rentreront en eux-mêmes.
Go to your fellow Israelis who [here after being] (exiled/forced to leave their country), and speak to them. Say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says,’ [and then tell them my message], whether they want to hear it or whether they do not want to hear it.”
12 Et l'esprit me saisit, et j'entendis derrière moi une voix, comme le bruit d'un grand tremblement de terre, disant: Bénie soit la gloire du Seigneur du lieu où il réside.
[in the vision] the [of God] lifted me up, and I heard behind [someone speaking very loudly], like a loud rumbling sound. [I heard someone say, ] “Praise our glorious Yahweh in the place where he [in heaven]!”
13 Et je recueillis le bruit des ailes des quatre animaux ailés, battant l'une contre l'autre, et la voix semblable à un tremblement de terre.
[I heard] the sound of the wings of the four living creatures brushing against each other, [I also heard] the sound of the wheels that were beside them. It was a loud rumbling sound.
14 Et l'esprit me souleva, et il me ravit, et je m'en allai soulevé par l'impulsion de mon propre esprit, et la main puissante du Seigneur était sur moi.
The Spirit took me away. Within me I was very bitter and angry [DOU], but I felt Yahweh holding me very powerfully.
15 Et je traversai l'air, et j'arrivai parmi les captifs, et je parcourus les demeures de ceux qui étaient sur le fleuve Chobar. Et je restai là sept jours, allant et venant au milieu d'eux.
I came to the exiles who lived at Tel [town] near the Kebar River/ [south of Babylon]. Then, where they were living, I sat for seven days. I was [about everything that I had seen].
16 Et après sept jours la parole du Seigneur me vint, disant:
After those seven days had ended, Yahweh gave me this message:
17 Fils de l'homme, je t'ai mis en sentinelle parmi la maison d'Israël, et tu entendras la parole de ma bouche, et tu les menaceras en mon nom.
“You human, I am appointing [to be like] a watchman [MET] for the Israeli people [MTY]. [So] listen to these messages that I will give you, and tell them those messages to warn them.
18 Quand tu diras de ma part à l'impie: Tu mourras de mort; si tu ne lui enjoins pas de faire effort sur lui-même pour se détourner de ses voies afin qu'il vive, cet impie mourra dans son iniquité, et je réclamerai son sang de ta main.
When I say about some wicked people, ‘They will surely [because of their sins],’ if you do not warn them or tell them that they must turn from their wicked behavior if they want to (save their lives/remain alive), those wicked people will die because of the sins that they have committed, but I will consider that you are responsible for their deaths [MTY].
19 Mais si tu as averti l'impie, et qu'il ne se soit détourné ni de son impiété ni de sa voie, cet impie mourra dans son iniquité, et toi tu auras sauvé ton âme.
But if you warn the wicked people and they do not turn from all their wicked behavior [DOU], they will die because of their sins, but you will have saved [from my punishing you].
20 Et quand le juste se détournera de la justice et fera une faute, je lui mettrai le châtiment devant la face; et il mourra parce que tu ne l'auras point averti; et il mourra dans ses péchés; car je ne garderai plus la mémoire de ses actes de justice, et je réclamerai son sang de ta main.
Similarly, when righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and do evil deeds, I will cause bad things to happen [IDM] to them. [But you must warn them. If you do not warn them], and if they do not stop their sinful behavior, they will die because of their sins; I will not think about the righteous things that they [previously], but I will consider that you are responsible for their deaths [MTY].
21 Mais si tu as enjoint au juste de ne pas pécher, et s'il ne pèche plus, le juste vivra, parce que tu l'auras averti, et toi tu auras sauvé ton âme.
But if you warn righteous people not to sin, and they do not sin, they will surely remain alive because they [your] warning, and you will have saved [from my punishing you].”
22 Et la main du Seigneur vint sur moi, et il me dit: Lève-toi, et sors dans la plaine, et là il te sera parlé.
[I felt] Yahweh take control [MTY] of me, and he said to me, “Get up and go [from the city down] to the plain/valley, and there I will speak to you.”
23 Et je me levai et je sortis dans la plaine, et voilà que la gloire du Seigneur s'y tenait, pareille à la vision et à la gloire du Seigneur que j'avais vue sur le fleuve Chobar. Et je tombai la face contre terre.
So I got up and went down to the valley. And I saw the glory of Yahweh there, like the glory that I had seen along the Kebar River/Canal. And I prostrated myself on the ground.
24 Et un esprit vint en moi, et il me remit sur mes pieds, et il parla et me dit: Rentre, et enferme-toi au milieu de ta maison.
Then the [of God] entered me and enabled me to stand up. He said to me, “Go into your house and stay inside it.
25 Et toi, fils de l'homme, voilà que des chaînes sont préparées pour toi, et ils te chargeront de ces chaînes, et tu n'en sortiras point.
People will tie you with ropes, with the result that you will be unable to go out among the people.
26 Et je te nouerai la langue, et tu seras muet, et tu ne seras plus pour eux un reproche vivant; car c'est une maison qui m'irrite.
[Even though] they are very rebellious people, I will cause your tongue to stick to the roof of your mouth, with the result that you will be unable to talk and to rebuke them.
27 Mais quand je t'aurai parlé, je t'ouvrirai la bouche et tu leur diras: Voilà ce que dit le Seigneur: Que celui qui vaut écouter écoute; que celui qui veut désobéir désobéisse; car c'est une maison qui m'irrite.
[then] when I speak to [again], I will enable you to talk [MTY], and you will say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says,’ [and you will tell them my message]. Those who are willing to [to what you say] will listen, [many] will refuse to listen, because they are rebellious people [MTY].”
