Ézéchiel 20
1 Et en la septième année, le quinzième jour du premier mois, quelques-uns des anciens de la maison d'Israël vinrent interroger le Seigneur, et ils s'assirent devant ma face.
And in the seuenth yeere, in the fift moneth, the tenth day of the moneth, came certaine of the elders of Israel to enquire of the Lord, and sate before me.
2 Et la parole du Seigneur me vint, disant:
Then came the worde of the Lord vnto me, saying,
3 Fils de l'homme, réponds aux anciens de la maison d'Israël, et dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur: Êtes-vous venus m'interroger? Par ma vie, dit le Seigneur, je ne vous répondrai pas.
Sonne of man, speake vnto the Elders of Israel, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Are ye come to enquire of me? as I liue, sayth the Lord God, when I am asked, I wil not answer you.
4 Les punirai-je sévèrement, fils de l'homme? Fais leur connaître les iniquités de leurs pères.
Wilt thou iudge them, sonne of man? wilt thou iudge them? cause them to vnderstand the abominations of their fathers,
5 Et dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur: Depuis le jour où je choisis la maison d'Israël, où je me manifestai à la race des fils de Jacob, où ils me connurent en Égypte, je les protégeai de ma main, disant: Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.
And say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, In the day when I chose Israel, and lift vp mine hand vnto the seede of the house of Iaakob, and made my selfe knowen vnto them in the land of Egypt, when I lift vp mine hand vnto them, and sayd, I am the Lord your God,
6 Ce jour-là même je les protégeai de ma main pour les conduire, de la terre d'Égypte, en la terre que je leur avais préparée, terre où coulent le lait et le miel, où les rayons des abeilles abondent plus qu'en aucune terre.
In the day that I lift vp mine hand vnto them to bring them forth of the land of Egypt, into a land that I had prouided for them, flowing with milke and hony which is pleasant among all lands,
7 Et je leur dis: Que chacun de vous rejette loin de ses yeux les abominations; gardez-vous de vous souiller par les idoles de l'Égypte: je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu.
Then sayd I vnto them, Let euery man cast away the abominations of his eyes, and defile not your selues with the idols of Egypt: for I am the Lord your God.
8 Et ils s'éloignèrent de moi, et ils ne voulurent point m'obéir, et ils ne rejetèrent pas loin de leurs yeux les abominations, et ils n'abandonnèrent pas les idoles de l'Égypte. Et je résolus de faire tomber sur eux ma fureur, et, au milieu même de l'Égypte, d'assouvir contre eux ma colère.
But they rebelled against me, and would not heare me: for none cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idoles of Egypt: then I thought to powre out mine indignation vpon them, and to accomplish my wrath against them in the mids of the land of Egypt.
9 Mais je fis en sorte que mon nom ne fût pas entièrement profané à la vue des gentils au milieu desquels ils sont, et parmi lesquels je me suis manifesté à eux, pour les retirer de la terre d'Égypte.
But I had respect to my Name, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whome they were, and in whose sight I made my selfe knowen vnto them in bringing them forth of the land of Egypt.
10 Et je les fis sortir de la terre d'Egypte et je les conduisis dans le désert.
Nowe I caried them out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wildernes.
11 Et je leur donnai mes commandements, et je leur fis connaître mes ordonnances, qui sont telles que l'homme, en les observant, vivra en elles.
And I gaue them my statutes, and declared my iudgements vnto them, which if a man doe, he shall liue in them.
12 Et je leur prescrivis mes sabbats, pour être un signe entre eux et moi; pour qu'ils sussent que je suis le Seigneur qui les sanctifie.
Moreouer I gaue them also my Sabbaths to be a signe betweene me and them, that they might knowe that I am the Lord, that sanctifie them.
13 Et je dis à la maison d'Israël dans le désert: Vous cheminerez en mes commandements; et ils n'y cheminèrent pas, et ils répudièrent mes ordonnances qui sont telles que parmi eux l'homme, en les observant, vivra en elles; et ils profanèrent à l'excès mes sabbats; et je résolus de faire tomber sur eux ma fureur dans le désert et de les exterminer.
But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wildernes: they walked not in my statutes, and they cast away my iudgements, which if a man doe, he shall liue in them, and my Sabbaths haue they greatly polluted: then I thought to powre out mine indignation vpon them in the wildernes to consume them,
14 Mais je fis en sorte que mon nom ne fût pas entièrement profané devant les gentils aux yeux desquels je les avais fait sortir de l'Égypte.
But I had respect to my Name, that it shoulde not bee polluted before the heathen in whose sight I brought them out.
15 Et je retirai d'eux tout à fait ma main dans le désert, pour que nul d'eux n'entrât dans la terre que je leur avais donnée, terre où coulent le lait et le miel, et où les rayons des abeilles abondent plus qu'en aucune autre terre;
Yet neuerthelesse, I lift vp mine hande vnto them in the wildernes that I would not bring them into the lande, which I had giuen them, flowing with milke and hony, which was pleasant aboue all landes,
16 En punition de ce qu'ils avaient répudié mes ordonnances, de ce qu'ils n'avaient pas cheminé en mes commandements, qu'ils avaient profané mes sabbats, et avaient couru après les imaginations de leurs cœurs.
Because they cast away my iudgments, and walked not in my statutes, but haue polluted my Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idoles.
17 Mais mon œil s'apitoya sur eux quand je les fis périr, et je ne les détruisis pas tous entièrement dans le désert.
Neuerthelesse, mine eye spared them, that I would not destroye them, neither would I consume them in the wildernes.
18 Et je dis à leurs enfants dans le désert: Ne marchez point sur les traces de vos pères; gardez mes ordonnances; ne vous mêlez point à ceux qui adorent les idoles, et ne vous souillez point par elles.
But I said vnto their children in the wildernes, Walke ye not in the ordinances of your fathers, neither obserue their maners, nor defile your selues with their idoles.
19 Je suis le Seigneur votre Dieu: cheminez en mes commandements; gardez mes ordonnances et mettez-les en pratique.
I am the Lord your God: walke in my statutes, and keepe my iudgements and doe them,
20 Sanctifiez mes sabbats; qu'ils soient un signe entre vous et moi, pour que vous sachiez que je suis votre Dieu.
And sanctifie my Sabbaths, and they shall bee a signe betweene mee and you, that ye may knowe that I am the Lord your God.
21 Et leurs enfants m'irritèrent, et ils ne cheminèrent point en mes commandements, et ils ne regardèrent ni n'observèrent mes ordonnances, qui sont telles que parmi eux l'homme, en les observant, vivra en elles; et ils profanèrent mes sabbats, et je résolus de faire tomber sur eux ma fureur dans le désert et d'assouvir contre eux ma colère.
Notwithstanding the children rebelled against mee: they walked not in my statutes, nor kept my iudgements to doe them, which if a man doe, hee shall liue in them, but they polluted my Sabbaths: then I thought to powre out mine indignation vpon them, and to accomplish my wrath against them in the wildernes.
22 Mais je fis en sorte que mon nom ne fût pas entièrement profané devant les gentils, et je menai mon peuple hors de la vue de ses ennemis.
Neuerthelesse I withdrew mine hand and had respect to my Name that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them foorth.
23 Je levai la main, dans le désert, contre les enfants de mon peuple, pour les disperser parmi les nations et les disséminer dans les royaumes,
Yet I lift vp mine hande vnto them in the wildernes, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countreys,
24 En punition de ce qu'ils n'avaient point observé mes ordonnances, de ce qu'ils avaient répudié mes commandements, profané mes sabbats, suivi des yeux les imaginations de leurs pères.
Because they had not executed my iudgements, but had cast away my statutes and had polluted my Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers idoles.
25 Alors je leur donnai des commandements qui n'étaient point bons, et des ordonnances en lesquelles ils ne pourraient vivre.
Wherefore I gaue them also statutes that were not good, and iudgements, wherein they should not liue.
26 Et je les souillerai en leurs propres croyances, lorsque je passerai sur leurs nouveau-nés pour les détruire.
And I polluted them in their owne giftes in that they caused to passe by the fire all that first openeth ye wombe, that I might destroy them, to the ende, that they might know that I am ye Lord.
27 À cause de cela, fils de l'homme, réponds à la maison d'Israël, et dis-lui: Ainsi parle le Seigneur: Vos pères ont provoqué ma colère par leurs péchés contre moi.
Therefore, sonne of man, speake vnto the house of Israel, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Yet in this your fathers haue blasphemed me, though they had before grieuously transgressed against me.
28 Je les ai fait entrer dans la terre sur laquelle j'avais levé la main, pour la leur donner; et ils en ont vu toutes les hautes collines, tous les arbres touffus, et ils y ont sacrifié à leurs dieux, et ils y ont offert des odeurs suaves, et ils y ont répandu des libations.
For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted vp mine hand to giue it to them, then they saw euery hie hill, and all the thicke trees, and they offred there their sacrifices, and there they presented their offering of prouocation: there also they made their sweete sauour, and powred out there their drinke offerings.
29 Et je leur ai dit: Qu'est-ce donc Abama, pour que vous y alliez? et ce nom d'Abama s'est conservé jusqu'à ce jour.
Then I saide vnto them, What is the hie place whereunto ye goe? And the name thereof was called Bamah vnto this day.
30 À cause de cela, dis à la maison d'Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur: Si vous vous souillez des iniquités de vos pères, si vous vous prostituez à leurs abominations;
Wherefore, say vnto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God, Are ye not polluted after the maner of your fathers? and commit ye not whoredome after their abominations?
31 Si vous vous souillez dans les prémices de vos dons, dans vos offrandes et dans toutes vos pensées, comme vous l'avez fait jusqu'à ce jour, je vous en réponds, maison d'Israël, par ma vie, dit le Seigneur, je ne vous parlerai plus, et je ne viendrai plus dans votre esprit.
For when you offer your giftes, and make your sonnes to passe through the fire, you pollute your selues with all your idoles vnto this day: shall I answere you when I am asked, O house of Israel? As I liue, saith the Lord God, I wil not answere you when I am asked.
32 Et il n'arrivera point comme vous désirez quand vous dites: Nous serons comme les nations et comme les tribus de la terre, qui adorent des dieux de pierre et de bois.
Neither shall that be done that commeth into your minde: for ye say, We wil be as the heathen, and as the families of the countreys, and serue wood, and stone.
33 À cause de cela, par ma vie, dit le Seigneur, je règnerai sur vous avec un bras levé, une main puissante et une fureur déchaînée.
As I liue, saith the Lord God, I will surely rule you with a mightie hand, and with a stretched out arme, and in my wrath powred out,
34 Je vous retirerai du milieu des peuples; je vous recueillerai des royaumes où vous avez été dispersés, avec un bras levé, une main puissante et une fureur déchaînée.
And will bring you from the people, and will gather you out of the countreys, wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arme, and in my wrath powred out,
35 Et je vous conduirai dans le désert des gentils, et là, face à face, je plaiderai avec vous.
And I will bring you into the wildernes of the people, and there wil I pleade with you face to face.
36 De même que j'ai plaidé avec vos pères dans le désert de l'Égypte, ainsi je vous jugerai, dit le Seigneur,
Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wildernes of the lande of Egypt, so will I pleade with you, saith the Lord God.
37 Et je vous ferai passer sous ma verge, et je vous poursuivrai, si nombreux que vous soyez.
And I wil cause you to passe vnder the rod, and wil bring you into the bond of the couenant.
38 Et je choisirai parmi vous les impies et les rebelles; car je les ferai sortir des royaumes où ils sont comme passagers, et ils n'entreront pas en la terre d'Israël. Et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Maître.
And I wil chuse out from among you the rebels, and them that transgresse against mee: I will bring them out of the land where they dwel, and they shall not enter into the lande of Israel, and you shall knowe that I am the Lord.
39 Et vous, maison d'Israël, voilà ce que dit le Seigneur Maître: Que chacun de vous déracine ses habitudes d'idolâtrie; et après cela si vous m'écoutez, si vous ne profanez plus mon saint nom, par vos offrandes et vos imaginations,
As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God, Goe you, and serue euery one his idole, seeing that ye will not obey me, and pollute mine holy Name no more with your giftes and with your idoles.
40 Un jour, sur ma montagne sainte, sur ma haute montagne, dit le Seigneur Maître, viendra me servir enfin toute la maison d'Israël. C'est là que je vous accueillerai et que je regarderai vos prémices, et les prémices de vos dons, en toutes vos cérémonies saintes.
For in mine holy mountaine, euen in the hie mountaine of Israel, saith the Lord God, there shall all the house of Israel, and all in the lande, serue me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offrings and the first fruites of your oblations, with all your holy things.
41 Je vous accueillerai avec vos offrandes de suave odeur, quand je vous aurai retirés du milieu des peuples, et que je vous aurai recueillis des royaumes où vous aurez été dispersés; et je serai sanctifié parmi vous aux yeux des gentils.
I will accept your sweete sauour, when I bring you from the people, and gather you out of the countreys, wherein ye haue bene scattered, that I may be sanctified in you before ye heathen.
42 Et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, lorsque je vous aurai ramenés en la terre d'Israël, dans la terre sur laquelle j'ai levé la main pour en faire don à vos pères
And ye shall knowe, that I am the Lord, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the land, for the which I lifted vp mine hande to giue it to your fathers.
43 Et là vous vous rappellerez vos voies, et les habitudes d'idolâtrie dont vous vous êtes souillés, et vous vous frapperez au visage au souvenir de toutes vos iniquités.
And there shall ye remember your wayes, and all your workes, wherein ye haue bene defiled, and ye shall iudge your selues worthy to be cut off, for all your euils, that ye haue committed.
44 Et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, parce que je vous aurai ainsi traités, afin que mon nom ne soit pas profané en vos mauvaises voies et selon vos pensées corrompues, dit le Seigneur.
And ye shall knowe, that I am the Lord, when I haue respect vnto you for my Names sake, and not after your wicked wayes, nor according to your corrupt workes, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord God.
45 Et la parole du Seigneur me vint, disant:
Moreouer, the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
46 Fils de l'homme, tourne ton visage contre Théman, et regarde vers Darom, et prophétise contre la grande forêt du Nageb,
Sonne of man, set thy face toward the way of Teman, and drop thy word toward the South, and prophecie towarde the forest of the fielde of the South,
47 Et dis à la forêt du Nageb: Écoute la parole du Seigneur; ainsi parle le Seigneur Maître: Voilà que je vais allumer le feu en toi; et il brûlera en toi tout bois vert et tout bois sec, et la flamme une fois allumée ne s'éteindra pas, et elle brillera tout visage, de l'orient à l'aquilon.
And say to the forest of the South, Heare the worde of the Lord: thus saith the Lord God, Beholde, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall deuoure all the greene wood in thee, and all the drie wood: the continuall flame shall not bee quenched, and euery face from the South to the North shall be burnt therein.
48 Et toute chair saura que moi, le Seigneur, j'ai allumé ce feu, et qu'il ne s'éteindra pas.
And all flesh shall see, that I the Lord haue kindled it, and it shall not bee quenched.
49 Et je dis: Qu'il n'en soit pas ainsi, Seigneur, Seigneur! car ils me disent: Pourquoi ne nous parle-t-il jamais qu'en paraboles?
Then saide I, Ah Lord God, they say of me, Doeth not he speake parables?
