Exode 10
1 Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant: Entre vers le Pharaon, car j'ai endurci son cœur et celui des hommes de sa maison, afin qu'à l'avenir ces signes arrivent sur eux,
Againe the Lord saide vnto Moses, Goe to Pharaoh: for I haue hardened his heart, and the heart of his seruants, that I might worke these my miracles in the middes of his realme,
2 Et que vous racontiez à vos enfants, et aux enfants de vos enfants, comment les Égyptiens m'auront servi de jouet, et les signes que j'aurai faits chez eux; ainsi vous connaîtrez que je suis le Seigneur.
And that thou maist declare in the eares of thy sonne, and of thy sonnes sonne, what things I haue done in Egypt, and my miracles, which I haue done among them: that ye may knowe that I am the Lord.
3 Moïse, avec son frère, entra donc chez le Pharaon, et il lui dit: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu des Hébreux: Jusqu'à quand refuseras-tu de me révérer? Renvoie mon peuple, afin qu'il m'offre un sacrifice.
Then came Moses and Aaron vnto Pharaoh, and they said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Ebrewes, Howe long wilt thou refuse to humble thy selfe before me? Let my people goe, that they may serue me.
4 Si tu refuses de renvoyer mon peuple, demain, à pareille heure, je ferai venir sur ce territoire une multitude de sauterelles,
But if thou refuse to let my people go, beholde, to morowe will I bring grashoppers into thy coastes.
5 Qui couvrira la face de la terre; tu ne pourras voir la terre; et tout ce qui sort de terre, tout ce qu'a épargné la grêle, tout arbre qui germe pour vous sur ce territoire sera dévoré.
And they shall couer the face of the earth, that a man can not see the earth: and they shall eate the residue which remaineth vnto you, and hath escaped from the haile: and they shall eate all your trees that bud in the fielde.
6 Tes demeures en seront remplies, ainsi que les maisons de tes serviteurs et toute habitation en la terre d'Égypte. Jamais vos pères ni vos ancêtres n'ont vu pareilles choses, depuis le jour où ils sont venus en cette contrée jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Et Moïse, s'étant détourné, quitta le Pharaon.
And they shall fil thine houses, and all thy seruants houses, and the houses of all the Egyptians, as neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers fathers haue seene, since the time they were vpon the earth vnto this day. So he returned, and went out from Pharaoh.
7 Alors, les serviteurs du Pharaon dirent au roi: Jusqu'à quand subsistera ce scandale? Renvoie ces hommes, afin qu'ils sacrifient à leur Dieu; préfères-tu apprendre que l'Égypte a péri?
Then Pharaohs seruants saide vnto him, How long shall he be an offence vnto vs? let the men go, that they may serue the Lord their God: wilt thou first knowe that Egypt is destroyed?
8 Ils firent ainsi revenir auprès du Pharaon Moïse et son frère, et le roi leur dit: Allez et sacrifiez à votre Dieu; mais quels sont ceux qui doivent partir?
So Moses and Aaron were brought againe vnto Pharaoh, and he saide vnto them, Goe, serue the Lord your God, but who are they that shall goe?
9 Et Moïse dit: Nous partirons avec nos jeunes hommes et nos vieillards, avec nos fils et nos filles, avec nos brebis et nos bœufs, car c'est la fête du Seigneur.
And Moses answered, We will go with our yong and with our olde, with our sonnes and with our daughters, with our sheepe and with our cattell will we goe: for we must celebrate a feast vnto the Lord.
10 Et il répondit: Que le Seigneur soit avec vous, comme je vous renvoie; laisserai-je donc échapper vos possessions aussi; vous voyez que la malice réside en vous.
And he said vnto them, Let the Lord so be with you, as I will let you goe and your children: beholde, for euill is before your face.
11 Non pas ainsi; mais que les hommes portent ce qu'ils sacrifient au Seigneur, puisque c'est ce que vous demandez. Et on les chassa de la présence du Pharaon.
It shall not be so: nowe goe ye that are men, and serue the Lord: for that was your desire. Then they were thrust out from Pharaohs presence.
12 Le Seigneur dit alors à Moïse: Étends la main sur la terre d'Égypte, que des sauterelles montent sur la terre; qu'elles dévorent toutes les herbes de la contrée, et tous les fruits des arbres qu'a épargnés la grêle.
After, the Lord said vnto Moses, Stretch out thine hande vpon the lande of Egypt for the grashoppers, that they may come vpon the lande of Egypt, and eate all the herbes of the land, euen all that the haile hath left.
13 Moïse leva sa baguette vers le ciel, et le Seigneur envoya sur la terre un vent du midi, tout le jour et toute la nuit suivante; dès que l'aurore parut, le vent du midi amena les sauterelles.
Then Moses stretched foorth his rod vpon the lande of Egypt: and the Lord brought an East winde vpon the land all that day, and al that night: and in the morning the East wind brought the grashoppers.
14 Il les répandit sur toute la terre d'Égypte, il les fit tomber en innombrables multitudes sur tout le territoire de l'Égypte. Jamais auparavant il n'était venu pareille nuée de sauterelles, et, après celle-là, jamais il n'en sera de semblable.
So the grashoppers went vp vpon all the land of Egypt, and remained in all quarters of Egypt: so grieuous Grashoppers, like to these were neuer before, neither after them shalbe such.
15 Elle couvrit toute la face de la terre, et la terre en fut dévastée; elle dévora toutes les herbes de la terre, et tous les fruits des arbres que la grêle avait épargnés. Il ne resta rien de vert, ni sur les arbres, ni aux champs, dans toute la terre d'Égypte.
For they couered all the face of the earth, so that the lande was darke: and they did eate all the herbes of the lande, and all the fruites of the trees, which the haile had left, so that there was no greene thing left vpon the trees, nor among the herbes of the fielde throughout all the lande of Egypt.
16 Aussitôt, le Pharaon appela Moïse et son frère, et il leur dit: J'ai péché contre le Seigneur votre Dieu et contre vous.
Therefore Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste, and sayde, I haue sinned against the Lord your God, and against you.
17 Remettez-moi encore cette fois mon péché, et priez le Seigneur votre Dieu, pour qu'il me délivre de ce fléau.
And nowe forgiue mee my sinne onely this once, and pray vnto the Lord your God, that hee may take away from me this death onely.
18 Moïse quitta le Pharaon, et pria le Seigneur.
Moses then went out from Pharaoh, and prayed vnto the Lord.
19 Et le Seigneur envoya du nord un vent violent qui enleva les sauterelles et les jeta dans la mer Rouge. Il ne resta pas une seule sauterelle en toute l'Égypte.
And the Lord turned a mightie strong West winde, and tooke away the grashoppers, and violently cast them into the red Sea, so that there remained not one grashopper in all the coast of Egypt.
20 Mais le Seigneur endurcit le cœur du Pharaon, et celui-ci ne congédia pas les fils d'Israël.
But the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart, and hee did not let the children of Israel goe.
21 Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Étends la main vers le ciel, et que des ténèbres enveloppent la terre d'Égypte, des ténèbres palpables.
Againe ye Lord said vnto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heauen, that there may be vpon the lande of Egypt darkenesse, euen darkenesse that may be felt.
22 Moïse étendit donc la main vers le ciel, et il vint des ténèbres, un sombre tourbillon, qui enveloppa l’Égypte durant trois jours.
Then Moses stretched forth his hande towarde heauen, and there was a blacke darkenesse in all the land of Egypt three daies.
23 Pendant trois jours nul ne vit son frère: ces trois jours durant, nul ne se leva de sa couche; quant aux fils d'Israël, la lumière était en tous les lieux où ils se trouvaient.
No man saw an other, neither rose vp from ye place where he was for three dayes: but all the children of Israel had light where they dwelt.
24 Le Pharaon appela encore Aaron et Moïse, disant: Allez, sacrifiez au Seigneur votre Dieu; quant à vos brebis et vos bœufs, vous les laisserez; mais que vos bagages s'en aillent avec vous.
The Pharaoh called for Moses and said, Go, serue the Lord: onely your sheepe and your cattel shall abide, and your children shall go with you.
25 Et Moïse dit au Pharaon: Tu nous accorderas encore des holocaustes et des victimes que nous offrirons au Seigneur notre Dieu.
And Moses sayd, Thou must giue vs also sacrifices, and burnt offrings that wee may doe sacrifice vnto the Lord our God.
26 Nos troupeaux doivent partir avec nous et nous n'en laisserons pas une corne, car c'est parmi eux que nous prendrons les victimes pour le Seigneur notre Dieu. Nous ne pouvons savoir ce que nous sacrifierons au Seigneur notre Dieu, avant d'être arrivés là.
Therefore our cattell also shall go with vs: there shall not an hoofe bee left, for thereof must we take to serue the Lord our God: neither doe wee knowe howe we shall serue the Lord, vntill we come thither.
27 Mais le Seigneur endurcit le cœur du Pharaon; et il ne voulut point les laisser partir.
(But the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart, and he would not let them goe)
28 Et le Pharaon dit: Éloigne-toi de ma présence, garde-toi de voir encore mon visage, car le jour où je te verrai, tu mourras.
And Pharaoh sayde vnto him, Get thee from mee: looke thou see my face no more: for whensoeuer thou commest in my sight, thou shalt dye.
29 Et Moïse reprit: Tu l'as dit, je ne paraîtrai plus devant ta face.
Then Moses said, Thou hast said well: from henceforth will I see thy face no more.
