Amos 1
1 Paroles d'Amos qui lui vinrent en la bergerie de Thécué et dont il eut la vision concernant Jérusalem, durant les jours d'Ozias, roi de Juda, et durant les jours de Jéroboam, fils de Joas, roi d'Israël, deux ans avant le tremblement de terre.
The words of 'Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he foresaw concerning Israel in the days of 'Uzziyah the king of Judah, and in the days of Jerobo'am the son of Joash the king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 Et il dit: Le Seigneur a parlé du haut de Sion, Il a fait entendre Sa voix de Jérusalem, et les pâturages des bergers ont été désolés, et la cime du Carmel a été desséchée.
And he said, The Lord will cry aloud out of Zion, and from Jerusalem will he send forth his voice; and then shall mourn the pastures of the shepherds, and then shall dry up the top of Carmel.
3 Et le Seigneur a dit: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés de Damas que Je la prendrai en aversion; c'est parce qu'avec des scies de fer ils ont scié les femmes enceintes en Galaad.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have threshed [the inhabitants of] Gil'ad with threshing instruments of iron;
4 Et Je lancerai la flamme sur la maison d'Azaël, et elle dévorera les fondations des fils d'Ader.
And I will send a fire into the house of Chazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.
5 Et Je briserai les verrous de Damas, et J'exterminerai ceux qui habitent la plaine d'On, et Je taillerai en pièces la tribu des hommes d'Haran, et l'élite du peuple de Syrie sera emmenée en captivité, dit le Seigneur.
And I will break the bars of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitants from the valley of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of 'Eden: and the people of Syria shall be exiled unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés de Gaza que Je les prendrai en aversion, c'est parce qu'ils ont fait prisonniers les captifs pour les enclore en Idumée.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Gazzah, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they carried away exiles in full numbers, to deliver them up to Edom;
7 Et Je lancerai la flamme sur les murs de Gaza, et elle dévorera les fondations.
And I will send a fire against the wall of Gazzah, which shall devour her palaces;
8 Et J'exterminerai les habitants d'Azot; et la tribu d'Ascalon sera détruite, et J'étendrai la main sur Accaron, et le reste des Philistins périra, dit le Seigneur.
And I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn my hand against 'Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord Eternal.
9 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés de Tyr que Je les prendrai en aversion, c'est parce qu'ils ont enclos en Idumée les captifs de Salomon, et qu'ils ne se sont point souvenus de l'alliance de leurs frères.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they delivered up the exiles in full numbers to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant;
10 Et Je lancerai la flamme sur les remparts de Tyr, et elle en dévorera les fondations.
And I will send a fire against the walls of Tyre, which shall devour her palaces.
11 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés de l'Idumée que Je les prendrai en aversion, c'est parce qu'ils ont poursuivi leurs frères à coups de glaive, et profané leur mère sur la terre, et pris en témoignage son effroi, et qu'ils ont gardé leur emportement dans la victoire.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because he pursued with the sword his brother, and disregarded his mercy, and his anger tore in pieces continually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12 Et Je lancerai la flamme sur Thaman; et elle dévorera les fondations de leurs remparts.
And I will send out a fire against Theman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Ce n'est point à cause des triples et quadruples impiétés d'Ammon que Je le prendrai en aversion, c'est parce qu'ils ont déchiré les femmes enceintes des Galaadites, pour étendre les limites de leur territoire.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of the children of 'Ammon, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have ripped up the pregnant women of Gil'ad, in order to enlarge their own territory;
14 Et J'allumerai la flamme sur les murs de Rabbath, et elle en dévorera les fondations, au milieu des cris, en un jour de combat; et au jour de sa destruction cette ville tremblera.
And I will kindle a fire within the walls of Rabbah, which shall devour her palaces, with shouting on the day of battle, with a storm on the day of the tempest;
15 Et ses rois seront emmenés en captivité, et avec eux ses prêtres et ses princes, dit le Seigneur.
And their king shall go into exile, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
